eBay

How much does second class signed for cover you?

I've been selling quite a lot on eBay recently and I've been sending high priced items second class signed for. Just wondered how much that does actually cover you if the buyer says it didn't arrive?

Touch wood no such thing just yet but want to be prepared!

I think it's up to £50

But say if a buyer said it didn't arrive, can their signature prove that it did or is this only with tracked/recorded?

Recorded IS signed-for...

It is up to £50, unless cash or jewellery.

If you have signature then that proves delivery. I find lots of posties don't bother getting a signature though. I use Hermes instead. And don't pay extra for the signature as you automatically have online proof of delivery.

My postman never asks for a signature from me on recorded items and he should do really,I always post Hermes with free tracking and value up to £50.00 but I can honestly say I have never lost an item with them although some sellers will slate them I think they offer a great service.
Autumn always keep your receipts from Post Office or Hermes and keep them for up to a year you never know when you have to use them to prove postage & tracking.

You need online proof for eBay and paypal to agree in your favour so even a signature from Royal Mail means nothing these days. Stick with online.

a signature from Royal Mail is visible online - that is the whole point? Hmm

I'm just telling you what eBay and paypal have said when I've called before about it.

I think you are confusing signed for with certificate of postage? RM signed for is trackable online, that is why people pay for the service.

Happy to stand corrected
