Yes. You send it to an address given to you via eBay and they do the rest. Its all safe (according to them-once received by ebay handler your job is done)Hmm

i will charge the seller the appropriate amount then do ebay charge me part of it postage which means i don't pay more postage.

e.g charge £5 to seller. send to ebay at PO £2. Ebay take £2.50 from me then pay 45p in ebay fees.

presumably ebay have economy of scale to post abroad

I had my first one this morning. In the order details ebay state their depot address (Derbyshire) and I can click on Additional buyer information to see the buyer's real address in Ireland. (I can also see how much the buyer was charged by ebay for the their depot-Ireland leg, it's around £9.) I send to Derbyshire using my normal delivery service (that I pay for) and ebay take it from there.

I'll see how it goes but I can well imagine I'll opt out. For example, what happens if the buyer decides to return the item to me and ebay decides I have to pay?

Since ebay will always put my interest last of all if there's ever a problem I'm not keen on allowing them more control over the selling process.

so do they pick up the tab for the £9 postage or presumably the buyer. my buyer is in Maylasia so not included anyway.

The £9 is stated as being Amount paid by buyer to third-party postage provider. Perhaps a buyer sees this amount, added by ebay, on my listing.

My preference is to stick to sales within the EU to avoid transactions in which import taxes are levied on buyers. I've read on the ebay forums that the GSP can really screw this up sometimes and I don't fancy dealing with irate buyers in far away lands.

I opted out straight away, cant be doing with it for the stuff I sell occasionally on there.

Details of how to opt out are in an email from ebay last month I think.
