Selling all your old stuff to pay for Christmas?

If you fancy it, pop in and say hello.

I am starting today and have done some listings - am aiming for £300 after fees to pay for the DC's Christmas pressies.

Ooh what a great idea for a thread! What are you selling?
Don't think £300 would be realistic for me but I would love to try to raise a bit towards Christmas.
I give away a lot of stuff that I could probably get a few pounds for, just because it seems easier than eBaying it but I really need to start trying to sell it instead! Christmas is going to be really tight for us this year! Every penny counts!

Great idea! I've got some baby equipment that needs to go Smile

I would, except currently trying to list stuff and MrNC has forgotten what he reset the password to recently and I need to get into his computer to redo it!

I'm also aiming to declutter and hoping to have 10 bags ready for the charity shop next week.

Well I have watchers on all my items, and a bid on one.

DH has already started this. He has a pile of niche items random man crap that's done surprisingly well considering its August. I'm going to start after we get home from holiday on 8th September. I have some nice baby stuff to offload, either gumtree or ebay.

Bumping this thread as I'm now going to start selling all my random tat in order to fund Christmas.

Any more of us out there?

I'm already on a selling spree. So far (over about a month) I have made about £80 and bought myself a Puffa jacket with it. I won't get anywhere near £300 but I wouldn't mind setting myself an overall target of about £200, in other words, making another £120 or so.

I made a start a week ago. I haven't ebayed for quite a while and only have feedback of 10 (having forgotten all the login details for my old account which had about a 100 positives). I listed 10 items and ebay has capped me at that for the month. I will have to wait for these to go before I can list more. On the plus side 7 out of 10 have got bids and there are quite a few watchers. Providing I don't get any tedious buyers, I will stick with it and build up a paypal balance for Christmas.

It's 200 free listings over the next 3 days so ideal time to get listing for your Xmas challenge.

Can I join?

Have got £135 in my ac at the mo :) would be more but I keep spending it!!

Got 5 more items up this eve. Finding it good to take pics when I can then list when have baby asleep on me! Makes me productive when I'd normally be lazing ;)

Can I join you all please?

I was just coming onto the board to start a similar thread Grin

My target is £1,500 and I doubt I will reach it by Christmas but I do have a couple of items which should help boost the funds!! I also have a problem when it comes to my pp balance...as soon as it hits my pp account, I seem to spend it Blush.

I currently have 11 items listed but some are on their third round of a month's fixed price listing so might have to another defeat with one or two items. I'm in the middle of a major declutter so now is the time to get it all on eBay and out of the house :)))

Can I join too ?

Have been having a huge clearout/declutter since June and have made just over £1000 to date (after fees postage etc). I have been using 3 ebay accounts (2 belonging to other people who no longer use them and said I could use them over the summer) to maximise the amount of free listings.

I've now set myself the target of £250 between October and Christmas but this will be much harder as all the nursery/furniture/big items have gone and I'm left with small stuff/clothes etc. I'm down to just using my own ebay account as the borrowed accounts will be used by their original owners also trying to raise some money in the run up to Christmas.

So £250 after fees between 1st October and Christmas Eve, that's my target, have achieved £55 to date but that included a couple of higher value items. I am now limited to just 20 free listings a month and any additional free listings ebay offer over the coming months. (I restrict myself to free listings only)

I'll join this thread in the hope it will spur me on to sell what I have lying about. I would love to make £200 which would help a lot towards Christmas!

I did this in 2012, thanks to the help of MN eBayers. Did really well in the November/December period.

Didn't sell at all in 2013 when I was a bit stuffed through illness - so what's changed that I need to know about?!

Line - I think that was the last Christmas challenge I did. Have been selling on and off but haven't noticed any major changes. I am listing all of my items on a fixed price only and it's working very well for me. I get the price I want and don't have a huge pile of things waiting to be packed and sent. I am averaging a sale a day at the moment which is great for me because I can see the piles of stuff slowly leaving this house Grin

LineRunner · 11/10/2014 16:55

Hi Hiccup, thanks for that. It does seem like a good plan that you have. If I sold one reasonably good thing a day I'd be happy.

I've sold quite a lot in the last few weeks - mainly bundles of kids clothes and some of my boots. I now have to list used Hunter willies, kids winter coats, some of my old clothes and some toys I have squirrelled away that I never gave the kids.

I am using the funds to pay down my cc. I could do with raising another £300.

Primal - good luck with the Hunter willies Grin and kids stuff. I have a terrible habit of buying things for ds to keep for birthdays and Christmas then not giving them...either because I forget or because he won't be interested in them by the time birthdays/Christmas come around. Have stopped myself from doing it now.

I now have 27 items listed and about to go upstairs and sort out a few more things to put on later.

I had a message on the app earlier to say 100 free listings 11th-14th October but now it says 20 Confused

Yay!! First of today's items sold Grin

Still haven't ventured upstairs but instead, seem to be constantly checking things on my watch list Blush and might have just purchased two of the BiN items to celebrate my one sale BlushBlush!!!

I'm wanting to join the gang and make about £500 for xmas, things been going nicely at the moment with me selling a few of my old leather work bags, vintage but good well looked after leather they are going very well,I use the free listings and find that when I get a 4 day free listing invite I do the best stuff for 3 days then if not sold put them back on for 10days or fixed price so the system works well for me.Good luck to everyone hope we all achieve our targets. x
