So if an item is on for a start price of £20 with no buy it now price but you get an offer for a price you're happy with, how do you go about selling at this price through ebay?

Of the buyer wants to pay £40 and enters this as maximum bid, unless someone bids them up to this they will only get an invoice for the £20 iyswim.

I wouldn't be happy to just send an invoice through paypal outside of ebay.

How is it done?

you either add a buy it now to the auction on once the buyer bids the amount you end the auction to the highest bidder.

Ah so you can add a buy it now to an existing listing?

Because I couldn't see how the other way can work as if you end and sell to highest bidder, it would only be for the current highest bid and not their maximum which is the agreed price iyswim

yes you can - you need to cancel bids first though.
