Is my refunded money safe?

I recently bought a jack wills blazer for £90 on eBay which was listed 'as new', 'only worn once' and 'excellent condition'. When I received it, it had white stains up one arm, all over one of the cuff lining (jacket designed to wear cuffs folded back) and down one lapel. I refuse to believe that the seller didn't know this!! I emailed them so say I wasn't happy and gave two options..... Part refund so the cost of the jacket would be £55 (inline with the condition) and they pay for dry cleaning assuming that it was something that would come out (it looked like bird poo or baby milk) or option two which was to give me a full refund and I'd send it back.
The seller was quite arsey but agreed to partial refund as they didn't have time to relist the item and said they were 'disappointed' not as disappointed as me who paid £90 for a navy wool jacket coveted in stains!

(I took photos of the stains but the seller wasn't interested in seeing them!!)

I took the jacket to the dry cleaners.... Turns out that the marks going up the arm was GLUE and all the other stains were WHITE PAINT!!

Obviously wasn't going to come out!!

I messaged the seller telling them that I was sending it back a d wanted full refund is it broke eBay terms and conditions etc

They refunded me the money (reduced the cost of postage and overall refund cost as they said my calculations didn't add up! I have a degree in maths!!! But was only out by £3.50 but its the principle!)

I have checked on PayPal and I have received this money..... However, it looks as if the seller has the ability to reverse this and take back the refund?? Is that true? If so for how long?

I want to leave neg/neutral feedback but am too scared as the seller could take back the money???

I've had a quick trawl of Google search and I can't find anything about reversing a refund.

45 days is the time frame for filing a dispute I think, so if they can do anything it would probably have to be in that timeframe.

They PayPal help team are helpful - might be worth asking them too!

yes it is safe, but they can't keep £3.50 of your money that is wrong, you are entitled to full refund, and really they should refund your return postage costs too.

And yes do leave neg and low stars if you want them to count.

please be aware, paypal 'credit' is not real money. I would also avoid linking it to your bank account.

Jagdkuh - what do you mean it isn't real money? Sorry but I think you are wrong. A refund is real money and cannot be taken back by paypal or the seller. They can ask for it back but cannot enforce a cancellation of a refund.

Thanks guys, I had a look this morning and the money has now gone across (I can remember what it said before) I have now left a neutral feedback stating that condition definitely wasn't as described but that I had a (almost) full refund! I couldn't bring myself to leave a negative as the seller had less than 10 feedbacks so would have destroyed her selling power but I hopefully did enough to warn others and to make the seller realise that buyers aren't stupid!!

Paypal credit is very much real money and is perfectly safe to link to your bank account - in fact, that's how you withdraw it!
