How long do you wait before open a non paying buyer case?

I know generally they have seven days, do you give it a full 7?

Tbh I'm getting really fed up with bidders who are taking up to 7 days to pay but I gritted my teeth and kept my invoices polite.

I now have someone else who won an item on Saturday. I sent an invoice Sunday night with a note just to say that I would be doing a postage run in the morning and I could send his item too if payment received otherwise it would be within a working day of payment. Heard nothing back.

They are new to eBay only 2 feed backs, how long would you wait before you send another message? I always pay straight away but is it the norm now for people to wait?

You can open a case after four days I think

You can now open a case after 2 days Grin - Ebay changed the rules at the beginning of the month.

I still give them 4 days unless they have a feedback of less than 5, or have "negative" comments made in their feedback re paying.

I'm having more problems with the well established Ebayers (feedback over 1000) than the newbies at the moment though.

4 days - they then have another 4 to pay so 8 overall. no point waiting any longer than that. No point whatsoever in sending them messages really, just open the case tomorrow.

Don't know how I did it but I got a prompt from ebay once and now any non payers after 4 days are automatically dealt with by ebay (ie they start sending out the chasing emails etc after the 4th day).

I can definitely open them after 2 days and close 2 days later, maybe it's just business sellers - the unpaid item assistant can also be set to 2 days.

Thanks everyone, maybe they are a mumsnet tear because they paid about ten minutes after I posted the thread Blush

I have had a look at the Help pages and MrsZoidberg is correct - anyone can now open a case after 2 days and close 2 days later. I have no idea when that change was announced! I had a slow payer this past week and was surprised that Ebay sent out a Purchase Reminder after 2 days, not the usual 4.

according to this it changed this month for business sellers, but I had one this week where I had to wait 4 days to open the case.

Interesting... this page seems to indicate anyone can open a case after 2 days now.

I don't use the unpaid item assistant to open cases automatically, but in the past eBay sent a reminder to the buyer on the 4th day. Last week it was done on the 2nd day instead, which seem to indicate there has been some change for non-Business sellers.

that is interesting - maybe it has just changed for private sellers and I missed that change?

I don't like unpaid item assistant, it wouldn't open a case for 32 days for me once and ebay couldn't halt it so I had to wait ages for fees back and to relist.

I had a quick look yesterday through the last few months worth of announcements and didn't find it!

their announcements do seem hit and miss now don't they?

It was emailed to me, but when I look on the system I can only find Business Seller news.
