Item not as described and returns

If an item is not as described (eg leg length is 3" longer than advertised) is the seller obliged to pay the original and return postage costs?

What do others normally do? I have refunded both original and return postage as I don't want unhappy buyers leaving me negative and ruining my 100% score

If I have made a mistake I offer to pay the return postage as well. It only seems fair, and it only happens very occasionally.

Thanks, I asked her to refund just one set, but she refused. She was resolute she had measured properly. Two lots of postage costs with nothing to show for it is the risk with Ebay so will re-sell.
Very silly really, as now I will just leave negative feedback!

you are entitled to a full refund of what you paid - just not the return post

but if you open a not as described with ebay, tick box marked other and write next to it refund then ebay will normally give you a no fault refund without the need for a return

I think I tried that before and ended up being told to return the item and paid return postage, maybe I ticked the wrong box!

Sorry, meant to say she agreed a return but no postage.

try it again and tick the 'other' box and type next to it refund - not like you have anything to lose is it

Aggghh - the seller wants me to provide photographic evidence. I can't see how I can photograph a picture of the dress full length with a tape measure where you can see the actual measurements! She says she has been scammed before. This isn't a scam, normally I just resell but this was a dress where I specifically asked for the length and she got it wrong and think it only fair she pay one set of postage.
I think I've had it with Ebay, if I get it wrong I bend over backwards, but never seem to get the same service back!
