Trying to refund a buyer but it wont let me!

Sold an item in January, trying to refund buyer, am a new seller so money is still pending in my account but when I try to refund it tells me that I havent got enough funds to refund, when I go on ebay it says Payment was initiated on 26-Jan-12 and is being processed through PayPal

Please help

is it an uncleared echeque - if so buyer needs to cancel it.
