eBay

Ebay removed my listing!

I listed some of DS's underwear in a bundle, mostly used (but very clean!) and one or two were new. I've had an email from ebay saying they have removed my listing because you can not sell used underwear and have warned me not to relist it as I could lose my account. Now, I've never had this problem before, I've sold bundles of ds's underwear before with no problems and looking on ebay lots of other people are still selling it too. When I listed other bundles before I put them under boys clothing then mixed bundles, condition used. This time I put them under boys clothing then underwear, put new with defects as condition but said they were used in the listing (lots of other sellers do this) Was this my error? If I relist them under mixed bundles will ebay know I am trying to trick them?

They probably will and to be honest I wouldn't risk it. I'm so disenchanted with eBay these days I've started using local Facebook buy and well sites.

yes they will know and you could lose your account

I can't say I would be very comfortable selling my child's used underwear and I would never buy used underwear either.

I personally wouldn't buy used underwear but some people do Hmm it is cheap enough to buy new! Thanks for your replies

I can understand why they have removed the listing tbh. There may be other listings on as some just slip through the net. I totally agree with January, take them to your local pre school. I now ours were crying out for it.

I have just taken them to DS's nursery! They were really grateful, some of the kids are coming up to potty training so at least they will get some use. They have hardly been worn so seems a shame to throw them.

Are you that desperate for money you would list used kids underwear? The only people that buy underwear that belonged to kids is peados.

The rules are there for a reason you cannot list used underwear, GET IT.

Harsh Fabby. I am sure that paedophiles are not the only ones who buy used children's underwear. What a bizarre idea.
FWIW, I don't use ebay but doubt that I'd try to sell DDs old stuff.

I think Fabby is correct, it is very sad but true. I had an ebay guide to selling and it says this is the reason. Best to sell in mixed bundles and right freshly laundered in the listing.

I've done bootsales before and taken some of my DD's old pants - I have to say, the underwear was the first things to go Hmm Mums with younger DD's were going crazy for them..!

I would never buy used underwear for myself so would not expect my children to wear it. It seems a bit yuk to me.

Crikey, every day is a school day for the naive.
Apologies Fabby.
Fookin hell.

is there some confusion over 'used' and 'secondhand' here?
of course you can sell clean secondhand underwear on Ebay.

I've never sold kids underwear on Ebay but have sold some nice underwear sets of mine - unfortunately I've gained weight and grew out of them. Of all the things I've ever sold on Ebay this was the stuff that sold really well. wouldn't personally buy used pants for my boys, but did use some that had been passed to me with a load of other clothes by a friend.

Fabby - not a nice or helpful post - why the unpleasant attitude? Most of us are not paedophiles so we don't think like them and anyway I'll bet none of them are truly interested in kids underwear that stinks of fabric conditioner.

People sell reusuable nappies so why would it be odd to sell underwear? (especially if it's nice stuff like Petit Bateau).

Fabby there are tons of people that sell used clean underwear on ebay so there are obviously lots of others that haven't read the rules either. I have sold DS's pants before in bundles to genuine people who want them for their kids.
I myself wouldn't buy second hand underwear but some people do.

For reference, Ebay don't let you sell used nappy wraps either as they are part of a nappy and count as 'underwear' in their universe.

Whereas if you look through the forums, it transpires that used bras are fine and 'not underwear', because Ebay are too prudish to refer to underpants...

If you're only including them to make up the value of a bundle, I'd just put "Included for free - let me know when paying if you don't want them: x pairs Thomas pants, etc"

Thingie I think most people assume 'secondhand' = 'used', as if it was unused you'd be selling it as 'new'!

notcitrus good idea to add them to bundles and say do you want them or not. When I've sold them before they have been part of mixed clothes bundles but this time they were on their own.

Hmm Fabby, a few fellow Mnetters have bought my Ds's underwear on here. I am pretty sure they are not paedophiles. I have bought myself secondhand bras too.

My Ds never has accidents in his pants, they are fitted style boxers from Next and very very popular. Anything I sell is pretty much immaculate.

I think the point that is being missed here is that underwear classified as 'used' is considered to be dirty, unwashed underwear. This is the reason for the paedophile reference.
If you list as secondhand and freshly laundered, everyone is clear.

I know it is a vile thought but they have to be vigilant.

Op the reason yours got removed is bad luck, the others are on there because they have missed them or they have been listed differently. Some listings get through the net, others don't. Search for used tights or used knickers and see what people are selling, your listing is being refused because of this type of listing, not what crap Fabby is spouting. I had a copy of the karma sutra DVD removed, there isn't anything perverted about that either.

Not sure why anyone would WANT second hand pants tbh - they cost about £1 at primark.

I have bought 2nd hand pants & knix for DC, they worked out lots cheaper than traveling to Primark :).
