Seller is threatening me because I left negative feedback

Title says it all really!

I bought an item that she claimed was as new. When I opened it, it was obviously well used and dirty. I tried to resolve but couldn't, so I left negative feedback.

She has resorted to several verbally abusive messages and, when I repeated that the item was definately nothing like new, she now says she has my phone number, she knows where I live and she will "catch up with me" soon.

What do you think? Report to Ebay, report to police, or just ignore the silly bint?

Report to ebay, and forward all emails.

Report to ebay in the first instance. Let her know you have done so and that you will report to the police if there is any further contact.

MassiveKnob Tue 01-Feb-11 13:20:01

well, i would report her to ebay.

What happened when you first told her you thought the item was not new?

NancyDrewHasaClue Tue 01-Feb-11 13:22:05

Exactly what scurry said.

Does she actually have your address and phone number?

Thanks for your advice! I've forwarded the messages to Ebay and I've been advised to let the police know. I don't think she'll follow through her threat: she's at the other end of the country, but I do need to take it seriously because I have young children on the premises that aren't my own.

I'm afraid she does have my phone number and address, yes sad

My original message just told her what was wrong and that I needed to return the item. I asked her what to do because she'd said No returns on the sale. She replied by saying the kids could still use it, they wouldn't access the dirty area (yes they would) and since she wouldn't refund postage and insisted on recorded delivery, it would have cost more to return than the item itself!

She was unhelpful to start with and downright abusive when I said I'd leave negative. The item was not new: it was "like new" which, in my book, means lightly used. I don't mind a few marks, but this was filthy and obviously well used and she must have known that when she sent it.

She's told me to stick to Brand New in future and said she'd have been more co-operative if I hadn't slagged off her item to start with. I don't agree: I told her factually what was wrong and what I wanted to do about it.

I've had nearly 2000 transactions on Ebay and only ever had to leave negative feedback 3 times - the last two have been in the last month! Starting to get paranoid!

I'm afraid to say that Ebay often attracts a certain class of scumbag. I'd report to the police personally.

FabbyChic Wed 02-Feb-11 10:26:28

Of course she has her address she sent the item.

She can pull her contact details from eBay getting her phone number.

Ignore this twat, tell her you look forward to seeing her, fight fire with fire.

Yes, report to police. Don't contact her again but keep a record of all the correspondence you've had and eBay's advice.

open a not as described case with eBay to get a refund - if you tick the box other and type in refund you may receive a no fault refund and not need to return

keep copies of all correspondence and have a chat to the police on the non emergency number - I know it is upsetting but you must tell the police, why should they get away with bullying you like this? It is a disgrace.

John1682 - I don't understand your 1st post on MN. You've linked to someone who has no negative feedback.

John1682 Fri 10-Feb-12 00:58:16

I also learned from this case that eBay can revise the feedback. Buyer will never see the negative feedback about the seller.

John1682 Sat 11-Feb-12 05:31:35

Below was the negative feedback of screen shot I gave to the seller

But it was revised by eBay. Buyer will never see the negative feedback about the seller. That's why the seller dares threatening me.

John1682 I think you need to start your own thread if you have something to say. Also it is not true that buyers do not see negative feedback about the seller - the whole point of feedback is that it is there to protect both parties.
