Divorce/separation

Court costs if it comes to that... Who pays?

Have petitioned for divorce. Decree Nisi issued and judge has ordered STBEH to pay all divorce costs. Would that mean he would have to pay court costs if we can't sort things out amicably? TIA

Not an expert here, but as I understand it: Probably not. There would be a separate ruling on costs based on whether the "can't sort things out amicably" is judged to be one of you being unreasonable/vindictive/obstructive and the other bending over backwards to be accommodating. If you are both being as reasonable as you possibly can be but there simply isn't a middle ground, you would each pay your own costs probably. The order for STBX to pay divorce costs is unlikely to be a ruling for future separate disagreements/court cases.

No. It means the costs of the main suit, ie the divorce itself. The costs of the financial settlement are separate, and usually you each pay your own.
