Hi there - could any lawyers out there tell me how long it takes for the courts to issue a divorce petition and for the divorce to get to decree nisi? I also understand that at decree nisi stage we can present a consent order to the court to be ratified by the judge. Is that correct? Many thanks

Will be issued in less than a week, unless the petitioner applies for fee exemption in which case such applications are often rejected multiple times before issuing.

3 months to decree nisi unless the respondent is obstructive.

You assume right about the financial order.

Thanks - that's really helpful. Is the three months a rule - so it cannot go any slower or is it an average estimate ? Ie can it go quicker ?

It's an average. It depends on how fast each party is in taking the next step.
