Wemen and cats

Came home about 12 months to what I thought were 2 kittens
I had a closer look and she had hid another one in another basket
Having a cat didn't bother me but 3 was taking the pi*s
So I instantly had a bit of a go as to why she had bought 3
1 being quite an expensive cat , she yet to tell me how much she paid
Any way , just before the cats came into our lives she purchased a new sofa ( with her own money )
She doesn't work so I paid for it somehow ( she has a separate account ) as well as a joint account with me
Anyway the cats have a very bad habit of scaching the said new sofa and has torn the arm rest to pieces and every time is see them do it I either shout or throw a pillow at them or near them
This is driving me up the wall and she seems not to care as what damage the cats do on the furniture
Any advise as how to take care of the situation
Thanks

She obviously loves the cats. And tbh, if you shout at them etc, the problem may well resolve itself - you might find she won't want you around any more Biscuit

I assume you don't have DC - they make a mess too Shock

What did she say when you say her down for a reasonable, rational chat about it before coming online to slag off your 'wemen' and her cats? Hmm

Take care of the situation?

  1. buy some scratching posts fo the cats
  2. get rid of the cats
  3. get rid of the woman (go on, do her a favour)

You sound a bit controlling about the money that was spent on a sofa - I hope she does herself a favour and lived happily with the cats and let's you go and find yourself someone more malleable - after all there are plenty of 'wemen' out there and you sound like a total catch.

Did you mean:

We men and cats.
Women and cats.

Or my personal fave:

Semen and cats?

I stopped my cats from clawing my leather sofa but buying a cardboard scratching board. Now one of my cats one scratching the board, the other mostly scratches the board but will scratch the sofa when I've pissed her off for some reason.

The cardboard thing was a fiver.

Semen and cats :o

"She doesn't work" - but if you have children she's not exactly filing her nails all day, is she? What you mean is that she's not in paid employment - but I'd imagine she's saving you a shitload of money in childcare/cooking/housework/admin/whathaveyou. So stop begrudging her a sofa.

But if you don't like cats and now have 3 of them it's fair enough that you're cross - have you tried talking calmly to her? Meanwhile put pepper on the sofa - they don't like pepper. Ground white.

Sorry posted too soon
Her cats. Her sofa (paid for by herself).
I would be ltb (you) because a) the cats sound far more attractive and b) you can't spell.

Cats need to be played with, they need cat stuff they know they own and high up places they can look down on their dominion. Clawing the fuck out of everything just says frustration to me.

You don't sound as if you like your lady very much and have a bit of contempt for her.

I think you should tell your wife to LTB.

If you yell at a stressed cat scratching you make them more stressed so they will need to scratch more.

The issue is why your dw makes unilateral decisions instead of discussing it with you.

I'm not wild about the things my cats damaged including the duresta sofa but if dh shouts at him I side with the cat.
