I posted this thread a while ago dealing with a friend's family dispute about circumcision. It was actually resolved the same year. An orthodox Jewish lawyer who is also a mediator on the husband's side of the family (confounding my prejudices about people who have strong religious views) got everyone to agree that the son would have a Brit Shalom (a non-cutting naming ceremony) in a Reform Jewish Synagogue. A very British compromise, I think...
