Yes, I'm in!

I'd been wondering why the MN peloton has taken so long to come out of winter training. I even considered starting a thread which is most unlike me but didn't want to nudge anyone's wheels.

I've been watching quite a bit of cycling recently. Really enjoying the Basque Tour this week, and the Tour of Flanders was great - good to see two world champions picking up the wins, especially our Lizzie.

I'm ridiculously excited about Paris-Roubaix, it's my favourite of the classics. Only three sleeps to go!

Hi DA! For me at least, I've been really busy doing RL things, which is no excuse. Been on catch up with lots of things. Thought of MrSlant last weekend when Spartacus did a major catch up at Flanders after a mechanical. He was awesome.

But it's a new season....and the MN peloton have had it too easy over winter. Time to graft and get in line. Bike

Sombre stuff re 3 deaths in the last weeks whilst competing, our 2 in Europe and the guy in the States who hit a barrier with his head. Sobering stuff.

Spartacus really was awesome, wasn't he? I was cheering him on but he'd just left it a bit too late. Was pleased for Sagan though, coming first for once instead of second or third.

I hadn't heard about the guy in the States. Sad news indeed.

Must remember to bump this in the morning to give the rest of the peloton time to catch up.

I really liked Spartacus when he hit the mechanical and had to wait for the car. Threw his bike, then stood aloof but engaged, with cameras and locals watching him. Class.

The US guy was racing in Oregon - a local race, not big, but from reports a really nice fella and so young. Really really sad.

yes Sagan - I recall the brief debate we had about him a couple of years ago. Annoying and rude (pinching the woman;s bottom) but recognising his bike handling skills. And his adaptability to circumstances in a race.
And at last , not coming second!

We do course know that riding that far over big lumps and with secteurs of cobbles and being in the saddle for about 7 hours is a real demand?

I am hoping and assuming that we are all ready for this?

There is a chance of rain on Sunday, and as it's been wet this week the mud on one of the early sections of cobbles is being described as "heroic".

Oh, I do like a bit of mud on Paris-Roubaix day.

hi there SLOSE!

I fear we've a bit lax on winter training in Team MN this year. It could be carnage on Sunday.

How exciting! My crazy DP did the Paris-Roubaix challenge today (172km in 7 and a half hours...). I'm a total cycling noob but am trying to pick it up (as a spectator!)

chapeau to your DP! That is awesome!

So by posting here, you are now a registered rider in Team MN. And will be needed tomorrow. Get an early night. Smile

Sorry real life has interfered somewhat. Loving the wall to wall coverage of P-R though rather glad it's not 6 hours of Carlton Kirby bless him.

I'm in. We signed up to Eurosport in the end ... pinned to the sofa for six hours now.

Sagan is very hairy this season? With some kind of Calvalier facial hair thing going on.

Interesting developing race, n'est-ce pas?

Distinct splits and need to work together to make up distances. Cav being a 'general rider' and doing really well. Ian Stannard looking really well placed (he lives round the corner from me!). Sagan v Cancellara ( and where is Spartacus' biggest fan? And Boonen is still in the house.

Spartacus down, Sagan rides over his bike, catches some air, lands and holds on and carries on riding. Wizard.
