Tour of Britain 2015 - no time to run out of biscuits now, MN peloton!

Whilst we're still riding up and down northern Spanish mountains, the home tour is rolling out of the beautiful Beaumaris on Angelsey, to start this years ToB with Lord Wiggo and Cav amongst other stars.
They go north into Scotland via Cumbria, down through Northumberland, to the Midlands and across to E Anglia before hitting London next Sunday.

If you tap on this map once things will get ever so slightly clearer...and we have race teams coming up....

Can't get to see this (boo!) but will try to catch it in the TV.

Who has the coverage? I've lost my sky remote so can't hunt the channels other than at the box and that's a bit of a faff! Blush

TV coverage for UK is on ITV4 daily - 3 hours live from 1pm and then a highlights show usually at 8pm for an hour (except tonight when it's 10pm). Eurosport are still trudging round Spain...Bike

So to push us off, here is the route map for Stage 1 today, Angelsey to Wrexham, which essentially means the fun of riding Snowdonia....

I watched them set off earlier on ITV, as went on holiday to North Wales this summer and I wanted to see Beaumaris on the telly. If anyone ever visits there is an amazing ice cream shop. Doubt the peloton had a chance to stop for one, shame really.
First mountain points were at Pen-y-pass which is where we parked to climb Snowdon.

Now waiting for the highlights - with that and the Vuelta still going on I'm glad I don't have much to do other than watch cycling this evening.

ooh Snowdon, nice. Good views from the top on the day Endo?

Nah, couldn't see a thing. We were lucky it wasn't actually raining or snowing, I think a bit of cloud probably comes as standard.

I live in Wrexham, there was quite a lot going on today. We'd hoped to pop in but I was too poorly. Shame as I've read it was quite a finish!

It's coming past us next Friday, apparently (over near the roaches/ leek somewhere I think). One of our friends is demanding that we go along to watch

Ooh, a Tour of Britain Thread! Bike

I was watching the Vuelta, which I'd recorded on Eurosport, when someone decided to show a photo of a tweet giving the result of stage one of the TofB. Massive spoiler Angry. I'd been so looking forward to watching the highlights later. The commentators had to apologise as lots of viewers complained.

I didn't think you'd be getting the ToB over there DA - that ITV4 was the sole carrier so a bit limited on coverage. My techy limits being made plain.Smile
Still a good finish.Bike

Yup we do. Highlights tonight, and live coverage on Eurosport 2 tomorrow, in HD no less Shock. We don't have ITV in HD, so it's Eurosport all the way.

Highlights not on until 10! Am trying to avoid spoilering. ITV4 Vuelta coverage didn't mention it.
They did ask Nairo Quintana where he was hiding the motor and the batteries in his bike, which I thought was quite funny.
(the top 5 riders all had their bikes inspected by the UCI in case of motors).

I saw the IAM team at edinburgh Hilton yesterday. It was really exciting...loads of bikes crammed onto cars, and fit cycling types walking about!

I'm a bad 'road captain' I'm afraid - just caught up with events now. Lifeguard stuff sounds really really interesting! Good for you, though less of the bruises. Bike
