Do the seasons get a capital letter?
e.g.
In Winter it is cold.
Or
In winter it is cold.

I think that they used to, but it was a convention that has gone out of fashion.
However, my DS had the seasons in his spelling list from school only yesterday, and the seasons were capitalised there.

Hmmm. Superfluous IMHO.

Also is it
The Earth is warmed by the Sun.
Or
The earth is warmed by the sun.
???
Thanks in advance.

The Earth (planet) is warmed by the Sun.

The earth (ground) is warmed by the sun.

I use capitals for the seasons. I'm aware it's going out of fashion, but then, so am I.

I sat in a meeting at work with some English teachers. They say that the seasons don't have a capital (Ofsted outstanding school)

Orange that's what I thought but personally I think they should get a capital letter.
