New to opera - Don Giovanni?

I'd like to go and watch an opera for the first time. As I live in the sticks, it will be a live broadcast to cinema rather than the "real thing". I've seen that Don Giovanni is being broadcast live from the NY Met this month, would that be a good one to watch or not? I'm familiar with the music and the story, but I haven't sat through almost 4hrs of it before!

If not Don Giovanni, what else would you suggest?
