Hi there,

I was listening to a radio programme about someone writing an opera at an artist's colony, and I thought you might be interested in checking it out:

Cheers!

Noit's about someone else, but that's not surprising. Lots of composers go to artists' colonies, especially Yaddo and MacDowell, to work on their music. The older male ones get friendly with the young female poets by asking to set their poems to musicbut it's always just a line to get to know them better. I liked hearing this guy's perspective on MacDowell, where I haven't been yet, though I have been to Yaddo. Thanks again for thinking of me.

It was the artist colony thing that made me think of you. I have a few friends who have been to MacDowell.

Hope your move back went well!

Just saw this again, Maomao. It's too funny that you have friends who have been to Macdowell. Most people, even in the US, have never even heard of Yaddo and Macdowell, or even the concept of an artist colony. They think it's some kind of summer camp when you try to explain. But of all things, there's a "sympathizer" on mumsnet. Are you involved in the arts yourself?
