hi darlingbabs,we are booked to go on a carnival caribean cruise next feb with our 2 dd's 13 and 4. the last time we cruised was when dd2 was 13 months old,we cruised with royal caribean, they did have a kids club but under 2's had have a parent stay with them. if its time to yourself you are after most cruise companies offer babysitting and night nurseries(you normally have to make sure your child is asleep before you can leave them)one thing to bear in mind when cruising with a baby is that they cant use the pools onboard even if wearing a swim nappy and this is a rule they enforce, hope this helps
We've done Cunard with an 18 month old and are going again in the summer with our 2.5yo. Kids' club is available for 6months upwards but as vegasmum said, they have to have an adult with them at that age. Think it was up to 1 year on Cunard. So you'd basically have the baby with you all the time. No babysitting on Cunard ships but the kids' clubs are open till late (bean bags and DVDs. They all fall asleep, aww) but again this is only for older children.
