Back into being frugal. From today. Bank balance £203 (I paid £200 off my credit card). Joint account £993. Money in purse £59. Plus change. Dad repaid me for mums present from him.

Major celebrations tonight as Ireland beat Italy to go through to the next round . DH has informed me that we're going to the pub to watch the next match. Luckily it's pay day tomorrow - I'll have to factor in the cost of a few drinks.

I'm meeting a retired colleague for lunch tomorrow so looking forward to it. The restaurant has a special deal of €12.95 for lunch, dessert and a glass of wine. They do the most fab toblerone cheesecake.

From the previous thread - ooooh socks! I love funky socks. My mum just gave me a load of socks so I'm resisting buying any, but these are the sets that I'm coveting: art and anime :o (although DD might actually kill me for the Starry Night socks, it's her favourite).

And Purple re: your question about whether home ed stuff carries on in the holidays. It varies massively. :) Some families go by term dates, others don't really define holidays as such. We're more the latter - holidays are known to the DCs because of local friends being off school anyway, so we certainly do less as they're playing out a lot more. But we'll still go on interesting trips, we'll probably keep going to one friend who has a Montessori classroom in her garden :o to do general learning stuff and Spanish, because to them it's just fun. Anyway, with my maths thing I've just said it's really up to individuals whether they want to keep going throughout summer or take a break. Things are generally a lot more fluid and flexible among home ed families, you might get some who want to continue and some who might do ad hoc sessions, some who prefer a clean break etc. :)

We have been out and voted this morning and had a lovely time. Dh carried ds to the voting station on his back and ds helped us draw our crosses. Very exciting.

Our weather is properly odd today. The air is warm and thick and humid, and the pollen count is high too. We need a really huge thunderstorm. I wonder if we will get one?

need, growing up the bread lived in a bag. Then I inherited the world's most hideous 70s brown bred bin and I wasn't allowed to buy a new one. So went and bought a £40 one that's going to last me for the next 40 years, hopefully. At£40 is should cut the bread on it's own, as it is, it comes with a wooden chopping board that doubles up as a lid.
When did my life become exciting due to a bread bin?!!!

£49 in aldi this morning, not the most frugal of shops as I got alot of summer fruit and veg. Love it at this time of year but it's not cheap.

fluffy, I've done the 'big switch' back in feb, £72 for electrics and gas with BG through MSE. But my bill is going to be so different, we're going from EPC E to a B, from a 20 yo boiler to a brand new A+ one etc.
So at least in theory, it should go down :)

Fluffy I'm terrible at changing suppliers for anything it's on my list for the first part of summer holidays when DD is at grandparents and I have some time. First on the list is broadband/tv. We have always had virgin, and in fact only have a cable, not aerial in the sitting room, but we're thinking we don't need the tv package as we only watch freebies channels anyway and have Netflix.

Around £10 in Aldi this morning - a bit of lunch for me and a couple of things for the weekend ( going camping) but will need to get some other things tmrw (including GF sausages)

Toothache update: it was popcorn. Colleague thought I was wierd brushing teeth in work bathroom.

We did a euro sweepstake at work (for he football not the voting). I got France. Happy with that. 🇫🇷
