On toast mostly. I have toast for lunch, feed the DC's properly and then have toast again when they are in bed.

We're not on benefits but we have a very tight budget (I think). We have £35 a week for groceries including nappies, wipes and household stuff like cleaning products. I shop in Aldi, meal plan very carefully and use a cash envelope system so once it's gone it's gone. We also don't use credit cards.

Meal plan.

Budget to the penny.

I have a weekly budget that includes the shopping, petrol and electric. Then the monthly bills like rent, car insurance, DD1s school fees etc.

So I know exactly what we need to pay. I start my "financial month" from the tax credit payment and I write out in a notebook the rough idea of how the spending will go for the month (ie paid in, paid out, balance, on each different date.)

Honestly, if you saw my notebook you would just be confused but it makes sense to me. grin

Its not easy, but we hope it wont be for too much longer!
