Today has been a £20 top up spend at Aldi for the weekend BBQ and then £20 on a round of drinks at the pub after work (well it's the jubilee weekend!).

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow as have swimming lesson and party for ds1 and then cleaning house for our party on Sunday!!!

Bad start to the month as had to pay £65 to get the washing machine repaired. Was intending it should otherwise be an NSD but then popped into co-op and spent £17 but that did include a big bottle of shampoo and conditioner which were reduced to £1 each from over £4 and a large joint of reduced pork for the freezer - the rest was probably not so necessary though. I'm truly rubbish at this aren't I?

Paid out £20.50 today for allotment fees, and £10 in co-op on baby formula and a bar of dairy milk

Tomorrow I have to buy some spades. Homebase have some good ones on offer, and its an extra 15% off tomorrow, and I get nectar points too, so not all bad. One spade will now be a Bday pressy for DH Also need to get a thermos flask from somewhere.

June going badly already as we're away for the long weekend so there are lots of cafe lunches and restaurant teas BUT this is offset by me switching our home insurance last week and saving a whopping £900!! Feel really annoyed with myself that I didn't do it sooner...but better late then never.

No interest in my car yet. Have only tried local classifieds so far and am hoping that interest will pick up this weekend with lots of people off work with time to spare. If no interest after the long weekend, I'll try AutoTrader, just don't really want to pay for an advert if I can avoid it!

please can i join? i really really need to cut back on spending! my allowance for june is - £50 for half term treats, £75 per week food shopping for family of 5, and thats it other wise i will be severely skint in summer hols! food is stocked in fridge for the bank hol weekend, we arent planning on doing anything, maybe a picnic if sunny. Im working 2 days next week and dcs will be with grandparents so they will be no spend days! I will take the dcs swimming one day and maybe cinema and lunch on another. If the weather is nice i could cut this out and do beach and picnic but i think we are in for a wet week!

I spent £16.05 in my local Co-op, on food for the weekend, and I am hoping for a NSD tomorrow.

We've had a spendy kind of day, ish. Lunch out was £30, but I couldn't get the thing I went out for, so I just spent about a quid changing unacceptable knickers I'd bought for DD1 for a pair of jeans. Then £4 on some acceptable undies from the supermarket. Since when did 10 yr olds get so fussy? Add to that £3 on tolls and that's it. OH spent a vast amount changing cars yesterday, that's never going to change. I haven't done a total for May, I don't really want o think about how much we spend in a month

Hello everyone! Wet weather = more spending for us I am afraid! We were going to go for a bike ride and picnic today but now we are contemplating the local aquarium. Grrrr.

Economytrader - fingers crossed for you, selling your car. I sold mine on Autotrader very quickly but one of my neighbours helped me (he is in the car trade). I think it was worth the advert money. Will be nice if you manage without it though.

Hi Everyone, and thanks louie for starting the new thread.

Well, a couple of very spendy days here. It was DS's birthday yesterday so a small fortune spent on a new bike. He also had friends over and a BBQ so a fair bit spent on food too. Still, everyone had a good time so that's what matters.

I made his cake (he chose the Maple and Pecan cake from the Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days book ... a beautiful book for anyone who likes to bake) and it turned out well.

For anyone who Ebays - there is a four day free listing 'weekend. It started yesterday (Saturday 2nd June) and goes on 'til Tuesday...100 free listings starting at £1.00 or above.

Yay, managed my first NSD for ages. But, off to Bath tomorrow until Friday, so it will be pricy. I have set our budget at £300, so wish me luck.

Wow jojo12, £900 is a massive saving, that is very expensive house insurance you must have had.

Hope you have some luck with the car sale this weekend economy, I think you're right about the bank holiday weekend being a good time to sell, when people have time to have a look around!!

Well incredibly I think I managed NSDs on both Saturday and Sunday!! We were busy on Saturday with the DCs swimming lessons, then a party, then preparing for our jubilee BBQ. Yesterday was our party day, and although it was raining, we managed to feed and entertain our friends for the day without leaving the house to get more supplies!!

Today will be different, I have a £100 tesco shop arriving any time soon and we are packing for our holiday, so will no doubt be popping out to buy lots of things that we have forgotten!

Oh dear oh dear I'm so rubbish at this. Its only 4th June and I'm losing track already. I'll try to write it down

1 June - £65 washing machine repairs, £17 Co-op

2nd June £18 in burger king for lunch - that's crap isn't it but were rushing for a train and didn't think it through? £39 on binoculars (very long story but we broke someone elses so had to replace) £4 tube travel

3rd June - £4 tube travel

4th June - so far NSD but need to buy a with sympathy card

That's £147 plus the card in 4 days and I haven't done a proper shop yet this month If I carry on like this I won't last til the middle of the month let alone pay day. I need to do some serious meal planning

Still no response to the car ad. Have lowered the price to see if that will help shift it. Just seen it costs £36 to advertise on AutoTrader, didn't think it would be that much! I think I'm going to get at least £500 less than what I paid for it 18 months ago, but I guess that's to be expected.

It's been a fairly quiet weekend other than a huge food shop to cover the arrival of family this week. We were low on booze so stocked up which is always expensive
Friday: £150 on food and booze
Plus £3 for a coffee and snack
Saturday: £10 on taxi to a christening
Sunday: £7.50 on lunch
Monday: £2.50 on coffee
I'm hoping for NSD today. I'm also hoping for sleep after being up with DD all night!

I had a NSD day yesterday just by not taking any cash out with me therefore poor DH had to fund DS's demands for rides and snacks! I don't think that is quite the spirit of a NSD but never mind. Had a really lovely day out and about and tea at a friend's house in the evening sunshine. Proud to report that we took a flask of tea and a coolbag with wine and fruit snacks during the day to save money - this will be old hat to some of you but is still a relatively new habit for us. We have dropped and smashed two flasks over the last year though so may have lost any money saved!

Rogue - I don't want to give ebay 10% of the sale of the car! I sold my old banger on their ages ago, but I only got a couple of hundred, so didn't mind. This one I should get at least £2,500 for! Giving it until Friday, then going to fork out for AutoTrader.

Right this is the month whe I'm going to write everything, and I mean everything I spend down. I am determined to get to the end of the month without spending the last few days living off any Nectar points I have and mainly eating jacket potatos!

Since pay day on Thursday...

£5.35 in Sainsburys for bread, cheese and apples
£3.25 in Boots for 2 new toothbrushes and things of toothpaste for the DC (long overdue
£1 in Tesco for a pack of 7 mini cheddars packets for the DC
£4 in John Lewis for some wooden play food for a birthday present

Today will be expensive as I discovered both the DC this morning have nits :( first time for both of them. Looked up the price of treatment/ comb online.... good God! Oh well, it has to be done.

economy, I understand. Ebay has become so expensive over the years. I only list when there is a free listing weekend as, if you have any quantity of stuff to list and want to start above 99p, you find you've spent £20.00 before you've sold anything!!! And, it seems to be inhabited mostly by businesses now and not the individual sellers. Prices are not too different from the High Street.

Had a few NSD's here, mainly because we haven't been out. However, as it was DS's birthday the last spendy day was just that...very spendy. . Have to organise an on-line shop today as completely out of the essentials. Also have a trip to the Garrick Theatre tomorrow (DS and a friend) to see Horrible Histories Barmy Britain show - tickets already paid for but there will be refreshments (if I can't smuggle them in in my bag) and I will be buying them lunch out afterwards ... DS is pushing for Sushi (his favourite) ... I am suggesting pizza (cheaper ).

Have spent most of yesterday afternoon listing stuff on Ebay as it is free over this extended weekend. Already sold 4 items and have big hopes for the rest. Will be listing some more stuff today - dvd's and the like. Have listed DS's old bike (which is in perfect condition) so really hope that goes too. It would bring in some much needed £'s. Will be listing my old bike today...it's a fair few years old but was only ridden twice (DH is a bit paranoid about me being knocked off it so doesn't want me to ride it!!!) Seems pointless in keeping it in the garage so that's going too.

Will be going through the freezer as well today as I am not sure what I have in there at the moment - makes for buying too much and buying the same thing - so we'll be eating some 'cobbled together' meals this coming week.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Jubilee weekend? I'm not a massive royal follower but it's been nice to see all the bunting, union flags and happy faces. It's quite nice to see all the pomp now and again. I've made some scones and a lovely caramel/chocolate cheesecake for a Jubilee tea today .

Super, are there any home-made remedies that work for nits? I know that sometimes the old, home-made remedies are the best and work ... however, not sure this is the case here? Might be worth a google????
