3 out of 5 (possibly 4 out of 5) people in my family have autism. Now because we work well as a family and are really good at getting on with life some professionals have asked us if they can do a case study on us now I have been warned off other professionals not to do this but to actually write a book and get our story out there in our own words and how we want it not how others see it. So I began writing now with having aspergers it can appear very disjointed and all other the place at times ( just like my brain) I wanted to know own of anyone's willing too look at what I have done so far and tell me if I am likely to get someone to publish the story how it is. I couldn't do it if someone wanted me to rewrite it as that wouldn't be the truth of how we are and how we work if you understand what I mean.

I think if you're not up for some kind of rewriting you probably shouldn't do it. Rewriting doesn't have to mean losing the truth of it, it can just mean making it clearer and more readable, and no publisher is going to take on a book they're not allowed to edit, even if it's pretty well written to start with.

I agree with Countess.
Editors will only publish what they think they can sell. Let's assume that a book about your family would sell-but it has to be so that someone picks up the book, reads the first page and thinks "oh I want to know what's coming next" not "goodness I got a headache just from the first paragraph" Wink
But also I'm not sure why you seem to think case study or write a book? Do you mean someone wanted to write a book on you themselves? You can just refuse.

I'd have thought perhaps you're more looking at doing a blog if you want to keep it in your own words. That way you have total control.

No I wanted to show people a true reality of livingikea us and also wanted to try show people that certain perceptions just aren't true. It's really hard to explain my thoughts.

How is it structured, OP? Is it written like a memoir (i.e. with a storyline and characters) or is it more factual?

Blogs can work very well collaboratively, if there are several of you who would be contributing to the writing.
Another option that gives you complete control is self-publishing, which these days is straightforward and free. But you still have to approach it professionally and be prepared to put work into marketing.

It basicly is written describing people in detail. It's written in a style of point of view and explain different situations and we react feel ect. If anyone is willing to look at what I have done I am willing to let them.
I was thinking about a blog but there's that many different ways to do this I got confused.
It's not that I am totally against having to rewrite some of it I just wouldn't want it editing to the point that it's no longer what I ment it to be if that makes any sense.
