I did 20,000 new words in the end, bringing my total to 40,000. My aim is 50,000 by christmas and to finish by the end of Feb (think book will be about 80,000 based on plan).

So I will still be hanging around writing if any of you care to join me?

I have re-thought some of what I've currently written based on my assessment that I got for my first novel, so have decided on a burst of editing of my current draft as well before I continue, while the ideas are still fresh.

Yay! Got to 50K today, but really need to write another 10K still.

Quite a lot still to happen in the plot. I've just written a creepy scene with the Duke of Norfolk in it (this Duke of Norfolk, not the current one who I'm sure is perfectly lovely).
It's going to be over 80k in the end I think, but there is plenty of rubbish to cut.

I can't believe how thrilled I am, given that 1. I never meant to do NaNo in the first place, and 2. I'm not even at the end of the novel.

I love the way NaNo gives you permission to celebrate. I would never have dreamed of celebrating a first draft before, in case it was rubbish, but actually it's worth patting oneself on the back no matter what it's like.

62k in the end (the last chapters went faster than I thought).

I am bereft. I've been working at this madly for 3 months (2 months of research, one of writing).

Now for more research and all those 'how to edit' books while I put the draft in a drawer.
