When to turn cot into bed?

Hi all,

I was just wondering, does anyone have any advice about when to change my 3 yr old dd's cot into a bed? She is very tall, so we're starting to become concerned about safety but think maybe it's ok for a while more? The problem is she loves her cot and doesn't want it changed into a bed at all. It is a cot/bed so it's basically the same structure. She seems to feel that her cot is cosy as it is and worries about her line up of toys falling out.

Any advice welcome, it would also be useful to know about what age did your dc go from cot to bed?

You mean she hasn't tried to climb out of it yet?! Blimey! If it's too short for her then I'd get a standard single bed, with a bed rail for her toys

I changed DD's cotbed into a bed when she was 18 months, because she could climb out of it.

thanks, no she hasn't ever tried to climb out of it, I've told her not to, I've said to her a few times now we'll have to turn it into a bed and it's 'nooiee! nooiee! nooiee!'

aww, perhaps to make the transition easier, you could involve her in choosing things like a new duvet set, a lamp for a bedside table, or even just a cushion/toy for her new bed?

Then she will feel more in control of moving into her "big girls bed" rather than it being a drastic instant change?

thanks cordonbleugh will try that, already have lamp etc, maybe a new cushion/toy, she's just not that keen on changes, she likes things as they are, thanks though [smiley face]
