This topic is for discussing cots and beds. We've spent weeks researching and testing newborn beds in real homes with real families.

Cots and beds

Following on from the Moses basket poll...interim solutions??

When your LO outgrew the Moses basket, what did you do to keep them in the same room?

DS is just over 3months and won't be in his much longer & I don't want to put him in his own room yet (for safety rather than clingy mummy syndrome!).

Looking for some interim solutions!

We didn't have a moses basket but used a crib (another here), any good? DC were each in it nightly until 6 or 8 months and then for the occasional bad night up to about a year.

Move cot in to your room.

Move your furniture out of your room in to nursery to give you space.

Push cot up to side of bed.

We used a travel cot for about 3 weeks but it became evident we needed the big cot as I didn't want dd in her room at all.

She eventually went in her room around 11 months. Making room for the cot in our bedroom was a god send and was one of the best decisions we made (she got used to the cot and her space prior to moving her to her own room) Grin

We used the pram downstairs and a crib, which we borrowed, in our room.

We have a petit bassinet travel cot as dd2 has an orthopaedic brace and would damage a wooden cot. It's much bigger than a moses basket and smaller than a cot. Suits us, albeit for different reasons to what you want.

We had the cot in our room - or we were in their room. I can't quite remember. Never had a moses basket. We had DTs in the same cot.

We are planning on getting an upperbaby vista and sleeping baby in it downstairs and putting cot in our bedroom.

We had Moses basket which we dragged around house for other 2, was fine for petit DD but lasted elephant like DS for about 2 weeks.

we used a crib and then had the cot in our room along the bottom of the bed.

Oh we've got an uppababy vista - I might use the carrycot from that for a little while then. I forgot it's ok for overnight sleeping. Maybe after that I'll try & scrounge a crib from someone. Unfortunately having the cot in our room is a no-go even with furniture removed as our room is just too small (otherwise I would definitely do this).

We have a travel cot too but it's a bit hard & low down...? However we might just end up having to use it!
