Taking the sides off a cot bed.

(4 Posts)

Son is in a cot bed & has recently been trying to climb out. We're worried that if he does manage it he's going to hurt himself, so we're wondering if the time has come to take the sides off. But he still wriggles around a lot, is there anything like a bolster cushion we could get to stop him falling out or just pad the floor & hope for the best?

I put a pillow under the edge of the mattress at first, just stops them rolling that way

When dd started to climb out we did the same and removed the sides but we did put a bed guard on as she falls out without as she is a real wriggle bum! this helped.

I just put a duvet on the floor. Dd was fine, never fell out. Ds fell out a few times but got the hang of it after a few weeks. The bed is very low to the floor though so it didn't really matter.
