How long should I wait?

Hello,

I've come for a bit of a sanity check and advice. DH and I have been TTC for 2 years now and have just started on the road of getting tested at the GP for any issue. I have a 29 day cycle, have done for ages once I'd settled after I'd come off the pill...except I'm late! 3 days now. I've had period like pains for days and I was horrible last week in true PMT style plus with Christmas and stuff I don't think we hit our mark last month. My question is, how long before I do a test?? DH says we should wait and I'm just a bit late but I'm going mad. Should I just do it and get it out the way? I feel a bit silly, it's only 3 days...do I just need a slap?

Oh please Poas. Dying to know. 2 years trying and you've not tested even though you are late! What are you waiting for?

schmalice Tue 21-Jan-14 13:38:08

Honestly...think I'm a bit afraid!

Hunnyangel80 Tue 21-Jan-14 13:38:50

Test good luck x

shelterbelter Tue 21-Jan-14 13:40:32

I'm sure you are. The anticipation must be immense.

When do you plan on taking a test? It's the only way you are going to find out for sure. Think how you'll feel if it's positive. And if it's negative doesn't mean you are not unless AF arrives.

Best of luck.

I'm testing on Friday 5th cycle!

You're right, of course. Will get a test on my way home from work. DH not back from work till 11pm so will wait until the morning. Although saying that I may not be able to resist! Thanks both, think H is just being cautious and not wanting to get our hopes up!

I have my fingers crossed for you!!

Please update us when you have poas grin I'm afraid it's the only way you are going to find out. Buy 2 one for tonight and one for the morning if you really can't wait!

Catwoman4981 Tue 21-Jan-14 14:54:12

Aww I have everything crossed for you Hun! Keep us updated smile

Bless DH he has just said as long as I wait for him to get home. His reasoning was that he just hates seeing how sad it makes me. We really did miss my fertile window last month so I just don't see how.

Think BFP thoughts for me and I shall update later!

Catwoman4981 Tue 21-Jan-14 16:23:36

Good luck Hun! Everything crossed for you smile

Try again first thing in the morning. It's so disheartening when you want it so much.

Hunnyangel80 Tue 21-Jan-14 22:32:33

Try 1st thing in morning sometimes it works better x

schmalice Tue 21-Jan-14 22:57:25

Think I'll leave it a couple of days . if there's still no sign then I'll go again. Who knew your world can be so controlled by blue lines and weeing!

Catwoman4981 Wed 22-Jan-14 04:36:11

Aww bless ya Hun. I agree with the others better to test in a morning really. So wait a couple of days and try first thing x

cookielove Wed 22-Jan-14 07:11:59

Try a pink test like answer or free or super drug the dye comes out clearer. I did a test two days before af was due, clear pink 2nd line (answer) then on day period due with a blue (sainsbury) and you could barely make out a line. Week later super strong line on the 2nd (answer) test.

Good luck, I hope this is your bap!

cookielove Wed 22-Jan-14 07:12:18

cookielove Thu 23-Jan-14 10:08:56

cookielove Thu 23-Jan-14 10:09:39

Oh dear play phone is having issues, have you done another test?

schmalice Thu 23-Jan-14 16:45:29

picked up more tests today so will test tomorrow first thing, which will be 6 days late. Surely they'll be something to see, if I am pregnant?? This is the first hint of a pregnancy since we started ttc so I'm already out of my depth!

Hazelbrowneyes Thu 23-Jan-14 16:47:31

Good luck!

mrsb87 Thu 23-Jan-14 17:08:46

schmalice Fri 24-Jan-14 07:27:14

Still a bfn. I'm now just confused!

shelterbelter Fri 24-Jan-14 07:37:06

How strange. Is this a week late now?

schmalice Fri 24-Jan-14 07:47:58

6 days today. I've been 29 days for about a year, once I'd settles down after coming off the pill. Even when I was still a bit all over the place my longest cycle was 33 days so I'm even beating that record!

schmalice Fri 24-Jan-14 07:53:49

Not wanting to be over dramatic but at what point do I go to the GP as this is out of character. I'm away on holiday next week so guess if I still haven't come on by then it will be over 2 weeks. I hate nature, she makes sensible women go loony grin

cookielove Fri 24-Jan-14 08:00:44

Oh no how frustrating!

schmalice Fri 24-Jan-14 13:42:36

Af rocked up this afternoon...

cookielove Fri 24-Jan-14 14:06:09

Oh god what a bitch pain! Sorry to hear that
