Thought I'd start a thread for those of us hoping for the best Christmas present ever! Anyone else TTC and hoping for a BFP around Christmas time? smile

allchatnicknamesgone Tue 26-Nov-13 12:00:59

Hi - you should join the dec bus - all wanting the same thing there!

amy246 Tue 26-Nov-13 12:29:27

I thought I'd buck the trend and go rogue!

MrsW0931 Tue 26-Nov-13 12:44:48

Hi Amy - coil due out tomorrow (eek) and am hoping although i know the chances are slim for a BFP for my DH's xmas present!
He has been begging me day in day out to have my coil out so i am planning on either telling him on xmas day its out or presenting him with the BFP!

How long have you been ttc? - is it baby no.1?

amy246 Tue 26-Nov-13 12:48:32

That's so exciting! Good luck for tomorrow! Yes it'll be our first, what about you? And our second cycle of trying- practice makes perfect! Lol.

allchatnicknamesgone Tue 26-Nov-13 12:50:43

Cool. If you are looking for tips / answers and general hand holding you tend to get it on the buses pretty quickly as high concentration of women on there too! Good luck

lucyfluff Tue 26-Nov-13 12:52:13

Yes please!!!!!! that would be a perfect xmas pressie grin grin

MrsW0931 Tue 26-Nov-13 13:28:18

Its my third blush however its my first with my husband as my 2 children were from a previous relationship so its his first baby hence why hes the one begging for me to get my coil out! ha.

Iv already bought tests and ovulation strips on amazon in preperation how sad am i... lol

amy246 Tue 26-Nov-13 14:32:05

That's not sad at all! It's exciting! I've got my preg test bought ready for Christmas! And I've even practised using one- I knew it would be negative but I really wanted to try one out! grin

MrsW0931 Tue 26-Nov-13 16:58:47

lol ok i dont feel so crazy now that i did one the other night too...just to test it out ovbs! blush Never used the strips before so wanted to have a practice!

My DS and DD were completely unexpected so ive never experienced the whole TTC thing so its pretty exciting getting to do this bit this time around grin

lucyfluff Tue 26-Nov-13 18:57:02

Haha I have become a poas addict ttc this time!!! Dont worry about all the craziness it becomes normal after a while wink

MrsW0931 Tue 26-Nov-13 19:21:56

Lol yeA i may aswell just surrender to the craziness now!
How long have u been ttc lucy?

R u taking any suppliments like folic acid? How r u planning on getting thru the christmas period with possibly having to cover up the no alcohol thing to fam and friends?

StellaLuna82 Tue 26-Nov-13 20:07:16

Hi ladies, can I join? I am TTC for #1, second cycle. I find the buses very confusing! If I get a BFP, it will be just before Christmas, we spend it with a lot of family and friends and alcohol is usually very free flowing, so little unsure how I'd cover that up!! smile

lucyfluff Tue 26-Nov-13 20:57:52

Ive been trying since Aug MrsW...fell within six weeks but had a early miscarraige sad this is my 2nd cycle following it - had to wait for proper period! Hoping for a xmas bfp!!!

How about you?

ps girls the buses are fun come and join us!!! grin

lucyfluff Tue 26-Nov-13 20:59:27

Im taking folic acid too and will carry on with drinking wine with friends etc until I get we do then Im sure they will guesssmile

Justpenny Tue 26-Nov-13 21:27:53

Hiya! Can I join too! Have been off the cerazette pill now for a couple of weeks, just about finished AF so my DP is doing the deed tonight whether he likes it or not!!! Fingers crossed for everyone!!! xxxx

newforest Tue 26-Nov-13 22:02:56

Me too!! We half-heartedly tried in September but leaving it until December to try again - due BFP around 31st. Would be great to start the new year with a positive.

amy246 Wed 27-Nov-13 07:08:58

I'm taking the Seven Seas trying to conceive vitamins. They're quite good value for money: less than £3. And I'm using a Monthly cycles app on my phone to track potential ovulation days. Must try not to symptom spot this month tho! It's obsessive!

FlipFlippingFlippers Wed 27-Nov-13 10:48:55

A good tip for hiding alcohol consumption is tell everyone you're skint so you're not doing rounds, go to the bar on your own and order tonic or soda water with wedge of lemon/lime and voila, instant "gin" and tonic! Same with parties, take your own small bottle (plain water) saying you didn't want to bring the whole litre bottle.

I'm hoping to give dh a bfp for his Xmas pressie too. Was thinking of wrapping the test up but thought that might be a bit unhygenic!

MrsW0931 Wed 27-Nov-13 11:15:03

do it Flipflipping he will be so suprised, thats what ill probably do- or buy some sort of funny guide for being a daddy or something similar that will make him double look and then look at me in shock! Cant wait for that look grin

Coil is due out in 3.25 hours argh...bricking it i really am. Im so foul at work today and just sitting in my corner of the office avoiding any chit chat!

I found when i was pregnant with my DD that i went out with the girls and just didnt even mention the fact i wasnt drinking, i had one drink with alcohol at the start of the night and then just bought coke with no vodka in and it wasnt until about half 10 my friend asked if i was gonna leave half my drink on the table as they were moving pubs, i said yes and so she said she would have it - after she tasted it she soon realised there was no vodka in it and questioned pregnancy straight away to i told her - luckily shes also my neice so i didnt mind her finding out really but next time i will make sure never to leave any in my glass! ha

FlipFlippingFlippers Wed 27-Nov-13 11:23:36

I'm lucky that drinking is no hassle for me because I don't drink anyway anymore. Not through choice but I developed an allergy after my pfb. I'm so excited and really hope it happens this cycle in time for Xmas. I prob will put it in a card or something if it does.

Good luck with your coil, be excited it's the first step smile

Honkyponk Wed 27-Nov-13 11:41:41

Try not to worry about having your coil out its nothing like when its put in. They just have a look with the speculum what not and whip it out. It doesn't hurt promise! X

MrsW0931 Wed 27-Nov-13 12:05:01

I cant stop it, got butterflies in my stomach now that wont budge. Im just paranoid that the strings have gone out of reach as i can only just feel the end of them now where as before i could feel a lot more so the string has obviously gone up a little..

MrsW0931 Wed 27-Nov-13 12:07:41

to be fair i hardly ever go out now but over christmas its going to be hard trying to avoid it when im usually the shots ring leader! New years eve were going out and my works meal in a few weeks which i suppose will be fine as i wont actually be pregnant then. Ur lucky if u dont drink anymore as thats one thing less to have to miss!

Thats would be a good idea if you do get ur BFP, maybe buy him a christmas card from 'the bump' or to Daddy, and wait to see his face when he opens it. grin

FlipFlippingFlippers Wed 27-Nov-13 12:38:58

I might make him a card cos I'm a soppy sod like that. Even if it doesn't happen in time for Xmas! It'll be easier for them to take out even if you think it's moved so try not to worry. Let us know how it goes smile

MrsW0931 Wed 27-Nov-13 12:54:54

aww thats sweet.

god less than 2 hours and i cant eat my lunch because of the million butterflies in my stomach ..

When do u get to test fipflipping?

FlipFlippingFlippers Wed 27-Nov-13 15:09:21

Oh got ages yet. Only just had AF last week and I have a long cycle. I'll prob be testing near Xmas week. How didyour appointment go?

MrsW0931 Wed 27-Nov-13 16:05:47

its out! and i survived! it was over so quickly couldnt believe it.

Lets hope the OH doesn ask to feel the strings over the next few weeks as i have the coil in my bag to wrap up for his xmas present! I know, im gross but after he said the best present this year would be my coil wrapped up i just couldnt resist!

amy246 Wed 27-Nov-13 18:38:43

That's so funny!grin

WaitingForPeterWimsey Wed 27-Nov-13 20:22:52

smile Mrsw

I'm really hoping for an Xmas bfp - trying for 4 months for number 2 and would be testing around Xmas Eve's hoping and good luck to all of us!!

FlipFlippingFlippers Wed 27-Nov-13 23:52:43

I think I might test Xmas eve if AF hasn't arrived. Tho getting a BFN might be a bit more emotional.

WaitingForPeterWimsey Thu 28-Nov-13 13:10:03

Just fantasising about announcing it to everyone on Xmas day grin

FlipFlippingFlippers Thu 28-Nov-13 14:52:04

Would you announce it so early? I'd be bursting to but would prob wait the 12 weeks.

MrsW0931 Thu 28-Nov-13 15:12:34

yea snap FlipFlipping, im hoping the excitement wouldnt weaken us to tell as both our mums are coming over for xmas dinner but i really dont want to say anything until the scan. It probably wont happen anyway so i wont have to worry!

MrsW0931 Thu 28-Nov-13 15:14:49

i think i will either do a test on the night of xmas eve or christmas morning but i wont mention it to DH incase its negative as he will be gutted and itl ruin his day. Currently he has no idea my coil was taken out yesterday so that alone will make him happy on xmas day. He wont expect a pregnancy so soon anyway so if he doesnt know it wont upset him!

WaitingForPeterWimsey Thu 28-Nov-13 15:43:12

I would tell everyone yes, because I've had a mmc confirmed at the 12 week scan in a previous pg. so like everyone to know so I can get the support through the first weeks iyswim. Also I find it hard to keep a secret! Wouldn't tell DS until after 12 week scan, though!

mammabear4 Thu 28-Nov-13 16:01:56

I would love to give DP a BFP as a present for Xmas!!! Did a test yesterday when I got home from work and they'd come through the post - couldn't resist - even though not due AF until 1st dec and 4pm isn't the best time to POAS! Got BFN and was disappointed but holding out for next week, FX!!! If not this cycle I won't be expecting a BFP until just after Xmas!

toots123 Fri 29-Nov-13 08:26:11

Still no af for me yet. Getting frustrated as I just want her to turn up (just for this month haha)

As soon as I get a bfp I will tell my mum and dad. My mum isdying to be a granny and I tell her eveverything! Its hard enough not telling her we are ttc haha

MrsW0931 Fri 29-Nov-13 12:01:27

lol toots i know what you mean, i had my coil out on wednesday and was going to give him the coil for his xmas present as hed been begging me to get it out but i lasted all of 24 hours before i gave it to him last night, at least now i can actually talk to comeone about it as i wasgoing insane!

amy246 Fri 29-Nov-13 12:11:27

I don't know about you, but I am worried that I'll be even more disappointed with a BFN if I test on Xmas day as planned. What if it ruins the whole day!

MrsW0931 Fri 29-Nov-13 12:52:30

hmm maybe you should test xmas eve. at least then you can sleep on it and wake up fresh xmas day knowing either a)ur pregnant or b) you can have a drink on christmas day!

amy246 Fri 29-Nov-13 22:36:30

Yes, I think that's probably what I'll have to do. TTC is stressful enough without putting myself under pressure as well!

mumtoacub Sat 30-Nov-13 14:17:03

Can I join? due bfp 16th on cycle 7 ttc#2. I want to hold off and do test on Xmas day if no AF to have the best Xmas ever!! Will definitely be announcing on Xmas day if that's the case I've waited long enough. Trying not to get to excited about the prospect been disappointed before

FlipFlippingFlippers Sat 30-Nov-13 16:56:37

Is it just me that convinces myself out loud that I'll get a bfn whilst secretly thinking otherwise and letting myself feel even worse? I can't imagine doing that Xmas morning I'd end up spoiling the whole day for myself. I'm gonna find it really hard to not say anything if I get a bfp at Xmas cos my mum knows we are ttc but my grandma is a nightmare and would tell everyone even if we asked her not to like she did after my mc

MrsW0931 Sat 30-Nov-13 20:52:37

I know what u mean flipflipping, i wouldnt do a test xmas day cos. it will ruin or put a downer on the day if its negative. Do it xmas eve if u have to and just gear urself up for a negative even tho i totally know thats easier said than done!

On the plus side for me my AF came today hoorray! grin Which means i can now get to grips with my cycle and we could have a bfp at xmas... Is it sad i already did a due date calculation for if i conceived in this cycle?! blush

mumtoacub Sat 30-Nov-13 21:23:02

Hey yeah you might be right it could ruin the day, in my head it would be a amazing scenario though a bfp on Xmas morning. Real life ain't like the movies ( sadly)

WaitingForPeterWimsey Sat 30-Nov-13 22:05:59

MrsW, you are not the only one!! I did a due date calculator too blush

amy246 Mon 02-Dec-13 19:43:41

I use a due date calculator every cycle! Lol!

WaitingForPeterWimsey Mon 02-Dec-13 21:17:58

Cd 7 here and as I have quite long and a bit irregular cycles I guess Christmas Day will be around 13 dpo, but could be only 9dpo!

We are going to concentrate on maximising our chances by not letting anything get in the way of swi this month. No illnesses, work deadlines, 'important phone calls' allowed grin

MrsW0931 Tue 03-Dec-13 10:17:24

I feel a whole lot better now thanks guys ha. THougth i was slightly going crazy with the due date calendar thing but obviously its part of the job!

So im now confused, my AF arrived - well i thought it did, but it lasted just half a day if that, the next morning nothing. and nothing since. Was that my AF? i googled implantation bleed but that usually occurs like 9 days after ovulation and my coil had only been taken out 4 days prior to the bleed so surely it cant be that. Why did it only last half a day, im so confused!

amy246 Tue 03-Dec-13 13:29:16

It's hard to say really, could just be your body reacting to not having the coil anymore. However my friend got pregnant almost immediately after coil was taken out so you never know! Just try really hard not to symptom spot, it can honestly drive you crazy. Every little thing becomes a pregnancy symptom. Im doing my best not to think about it but it's not working! I can't help it

MrsW0931 Tue 03-Dec-13 13:53:44

i know, every time i feel a little sick im thinking morning sickness?! everytime i get ligament pain im thinking pregnancy?! - every night i do an ovulation test and every time its negative :-( Im already gone crazy i think. This better happen fast else i may actually be sent to a mental health unit pretty soon....

FlipFlippingFlippers Tue 03-Dec-13 18:37:49

Speaking of symptom spotting, I've completely lost my appetite which is unheard of other than when I've been pregnant. Also the smell of rosemary knocked me sick today when I usually love it. Could just be the start of stomach bug tho I suppose.

Jphil2209 Tue 03-Dec-13 22:20:06

Hi all been ttc for a few months now after coming of cerazette. Wow that messes your body up. Anyway hoping this is my month. Was convinced I was pregnant a few days ago as period was a few days late, nausea and feeling light headed. Isn't it funny how your body tricks you.

amy246 Wed 04-Dec-13 10:27:21

I came off cerazette too after eight years. Don't seem to be having too many problems since coming off. I'm just trying to get used to my cycles etc. it's so weird having periods again after so long! Grossed me out a bit! Lol.

Jphil2209 Wed 04-Dec-13 13:04:20

Yes not having a period was such a bonus. My mood swings seem to be back after coming off it aswell.

MrsW0931 Wed 04-Dec-13 17:00:21

i know, i found the coil amazing - 2 and a half yrs of no periods and never having to rememebr to take a god damn pill which my 2 children prove i am very bad at! blush

So the last 2 days iv had this sick/butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach and i have no idea why. My head is trying to convince me its morning sickness and to do a test but i cant be so it would be a waste of a test. grr.

My mood swings are unreal this week - i actually feel like i want the world to end lol and i have no idea why but i just cant be bothered to come to work and manage people i just want to spend all day googling conception and implantation and signs of pregnancy alllllll day long!
