Young woman, what are you doing to me? JUST SHAGGING for my bfp, theres no need to say it, we are poas, THREAD NUMBER 16!!!!!

(1000 Posts)
cookielove Sun 07-Jul-13 09:46:42

Ladies, Fred title says it all; we are the ones who shag as much as our men can cope with in order to get upduffed without the stress of scientific whatnots!

Fred rules (copied from previous Fred)

1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
4. Thou shalt share and with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo;

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce in other posters).

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in!

Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

Contraband = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

The link to Part 14 is here

The link to the latest grads thread is here

Happy shagging shaggers!

Yes FiFi i was crying when Andy won and I'm not even British. But then almost anything makes me cry its heredetory blame my mother....

cookielove Sun 07-Jul-13 22:29:22

I turned onto it after he had won, i got a bit emtional to when he was hugging his family. I don't even follow tennis yet it all gets me sobbing confused

ChocChaffinch Sun 07-Jul-13 22:32:57

I always get choked up when people win stuff - it's the being proud thing. hmm
bless him, he forgot to kiss his mother, had to go back to her grin
do like djokovich too, such a gentleman.

Bearfacedchic Sun 07-Jul-13 23:35:59

Oh yes what a sportsman Djokovich is - if he lived a thousand years ago he'd be a knight fo sho.

Went out with DH this evening and had a lovely time in a bar where they had a bit of jazz not the poncy shit just nice stuff with an actual tune I've also been hammering the gym again. Yesterday I cycled 20km and ran 2.5km. Today I did cross trainer, rowing machine, ski machine and cycled 10km. And yet still my stomach persists in being annoying and staying wibbly. confused yet more exercise awaitsd tomorrow! I do like exercise but I wish that the results were the equivalent to how much effort I put in!

Hello to all the newbies! It's nice to have some more shaggers along for the ride pun definitely intended grin

Strokethefurrywall Mon 08-Jul-13 03:00:51

Hey viroids - I have been pretty incognito the last few weeks or so, kind of figured that the less I think about it the easier it is to get through the process!
That being said, I've been using crappy contraband this week (Answer ovulation sticks cos that's all I could get here) and i'm not even approaching my LH surge according to the stick so I figure they're either bollocks, or I ovulate later than expected. In fact, I reckon I'm ovulating today (day 16) so I just told DH that we should just keep on shagging until Wednesday. He nodded sagely in agreement, haha!

Wonderful to see Andy Murray win, I'm a Wimbledon girl so I feel very homesick when I see everyone sitting on Henman hill! It's times like this I get all patriotic and want to fly my union jack on this side of the pond!

Mehrida Mon 08-Jul-13 09:01:42

It should be illegal to be in an office on a day like today! Sulking.

Boobs are still doing a Babs but I'm getting crampy as well now so expecting ertd soon! Due on tomorrow, better get the pity pool ready viroids!

bear do you do any weight training? Or intervals? Cardio is amazing for fitness but its easy to plateau weight loss wise

AndieDisestablishment Mon 08-Jul-13 14:28:17

Comms If you think it's too hot in your office try a maternity ward (which are usually too warm anyway) I swear it's hotter than the fires of hell today! I'm sweating rather unattractively whilst caring for other people's babies and trying desperately not to become crazy broody baby thief.lol

AF is due Wednesday, had sore boobs yesterday and am massively tired so I suspect she's ready to arrive.

* Disclaimer: I wouldn't really steal a baby, that was just for comedic effect.

AQuarkTooFar Mon 08-Jul-13 15:33:22

Frog they are wee terriers! Dh says number 3 is here ok! Gutted, I so wanted to be there, it's her first litter.

commsgirl Mon 08-Jul-13 16:13:36

quark how cute!

andie definitely feel for you in this heat!

I can't remember the last time I was this tired, I'm dropping off at my desk. It's probably just the heat.

EssieSaysRelax Mon 08-Jul-13 16:19:27

nnaahh! puppies!! I went to see my friends 7 x 6 week old black lab pups on Saturday, they all climbed all over me, it was lovely! Enjoy all the puppy cuddles for the weeks to come.

My office is quite a pleasant temperature actually, which makes a change as usually its baking in winter and freezing in summer.

I bloody love this weather.

Welcome Zola!

frogchops Mon 08-Jul-13 17:13:44

Is that the lot now? Three pups....cute!

Bearfacedchic Mon 08-Jul-13 17:22:43

Oh God - I WANT A DOG!!! DH has said that if I never manage to pop out a baby, then I can have a dog. Common sense tells me this is not a good substitute as it would probably be in a pram with a sun hat in minutes, but what the hell! Joke - I'm not that weird! I've never had a pet either! <wails> Not even as a kid. Move over Essie - I need to get in the pity pool with you!

I did see the cutest little white puppy (not sure which breed but could have been a Lab) while at the car wash today. A couple in a Bentley drove up with it and I just stood gawping at it like a loser. I want a puppy! I want a Bentley! <wails and stamps foot> <has worn self out and shuffles off to play in the mud again>

Quark - that's amazing news. I feel sorry for your dog giving birth in this heat though - can't be easy. I hope you have lost of fun when you get home tonight though. smile

Comms - I have just started doing weights again today. I went to the gym this am and used the machines. I'm also going again this evening (it's not overkill, I promise, before anyone worries). I need to take DH to gym as he does a club there and needs to get there by a certain time so I have to pick him up. So, figured I may as well do some other stuff while I'm there. Honestly, I feel like Cardio Queen. I'm very cardio fit and I do lots of interval training (I have asthma so need to be), but I am HEAVY! So, I'm back at the weights and Insanity to try and get myself into some kind of shape before holidays. I did measure myself last night though and I've lost an inch off my bust, half an inch off my thighs and 3 inches off my boobs so I must be doing something right! I just know I'm going to go to the fertility appointment and they're going to weigh me and it's going to be horribly embarrassing. sad So I'm doing my best to get my weight down before then.

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 17:59:01

Hi all. in knackered! Saw Olly Murs in concert yesterday and he was amazing but we queued for 3hours to get out if the car park twice as long as Olly was on stage so didn't get home until 2am! let's say work has not been very productive today!

Thanks for the support about my brother. its nice to know u guys think I did the right thing. my mum was seeing my bro today so hoping to phone herclater and see

Bearfacedchic Mon 08-Jul-13 17:59:59

Oh yes and I was naughty and did a little test. BFN - no surprise there then! Still got about 5 days to Ertd though, so maybe the impossible could happen . . .

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 18:00:52

*phone her later and see how she got on.

Ertd has left the building but dh hasn't been well. hoping to get some cape action soon tho.

hi to all the newbies....and to readmitted babylann!

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 18:05:34

ooh bear we posted at the same time Lol. defo early so bfp could still be around the corner. u know what they say....expect the unexpected grin

Bearfacedchic Mon 08-Jul-13 18:41:23

I hope so Lil. Sorry for the X-post. Hope your mum has got on okay with your older bro.

AQuarkTooFar Mon 08-Jul-13 19:08:00

Frog and bear there was 6 in the end! Hoping she has finished because she is so tired she can't keep her eyes open! Poor soul!

Sitting listening to puppy squeaks! Cute!

Bearfacedchic Mon 08-Jul-13 19:24:28

Awww. smile

MrsCatFace Mon 08-Jul-13 19:57:59

Awwww man I want a puppy too. Minus the peeing on the carpet part. Got older boy dog. Still trying to convince DH to get a girl dog but he said we must have human puppy first.

Is this nearly all of the mad shaggers now?

commsgirl Mon 08-Jul-13 20:17:48

bear there's still time, fingers crossed! Sounds like you're doing everything right on the fitness front, you'll probably see some fast results with Insanity.

lil hope everything went okay with your mum/bro.

quark so jealous of you right now! I bet they're adorable. Six as well, you have a clever/brave dog there!

Everyone should have a dog - they're the best! My puppy has just stopped treating the house as a toilet so it's all fun now smile. He actually made me more broody not less though!

Still feel like ertd is going to hit any second but I've had no spotting which is weird for me. Trying to hold out until Thursday. Who else is still waiting this month?

DulcetMoans Mon 08-Jul-13 20:24:23

Wow, chatty ladies! The sunshine must have made everyone less productive at work. Haha.

I have new PJs on and fresh bedding tonight. Is it sad I am really looking forward to it?!

First cape of cycle 11 commenced yesterday, I think happy weather helps get the mood right. Although the heat does not go well with DP so it is an effort for him to not completely melt!

DulcetMoans Mon 08-Jul-13 20:25:46

Oh looks like it only partly downloaded messages on phone too! 6 puppies?! Amazing!

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 21:09:41

I think I may be the only one here who would never EVER want a dog....I still think puppies are cute, when they are in someone else's house or on TV, but just no no no no. not for me!

EssieSaysRelax Mon 08-Jul-13 22:11:16

I have a major phobia of dog poo and have been known to throw away a pair of trainers cos they got dog poo on. Had only known DH a few months then, he retrieved them from the bin and cleaned them, bless him, and he still married me! So therefore, whilst I LOVE dogs and puppies, I don't think I could ever have one, so you are not alone lil!

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 22:39:50

Thank goodness Essie, I don't like being a loner grin i would so have thrown the trousers away too!

lil1ady Mon 08-Jul-13 22:42:23

and thanks comms sounds like my brother will never change but at least keeping him out if prison means my mum is spared the nightmare of it. hopefully we can just forget it now and wait and see if he pays her/me back move onsmile

DulcetMoans Mon 08-Jul-13 22:54:04

I like dogs but wouldn't own one. I'm a cat person, got two and love them! DPs family dog got put down last week though, very sad.

Nessalina Mon 08-Jul-13 23:21:21

I reckon I OV'd on Saturday according to the contraband anyway! so me & my DH have done all we can now shag-wise. We didn't start as early as we should've done, life's rather gotten in the way this month, so I'll just be crossing my fingers & toes!

EssieSaysRelax Tue 09-Jul-13 09:48:30

Haha lil, glad it's not just me. Yukky yuk.

Yeah I'm a cat person really, I have one cat, he's my baby. DH had never had pets before when we met and was a bit wary of the cat, but they are best mates now.

I'm ultra excited because I'm going to see the Kings of Leon tonight. My Mum is also ultra excited because she is having my DH's ticket cos he's had to go away with work.

I don't think I've ovved yet, so hoping I can hold it in til DH gets back on Thurs!!

babylann Tue 09-Jul-13 12:17:29

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weather! Summer isn't really peak time for jsing in my opinion, far too hot and sticky.

AQuarkTooFar Tue 09-Jul-13 12:31:39

I totally get not being a dog person, they are not for everyone. At this point though while the puppies are still on their mums milk she eats all their poo! bleurgh! Imagine if we did that.............shock

Essie that is proper exciting about kings of leon!

Babylann I know what you mean, I cant let DH anywhere near me! He is like a heater! and with hayfever added in there is just no jsing happening right now!

ERTD due for me tomorrow. Not getting signs either way but I did have a stupidly long cycle last time that was over by 10 days so maybe i'm going to have another of those!

Any one poas soon?

EssieSaysRelax Tue 09-Jul-13 12:41:24

yeah we need some poas action around here....

Poor Mummy dog. I remember our cat doing that too when we had kittens once. Gross.

lil1ady Tue 09-Jul-13 13:47:11

I would happily have a cat but nowhere to put a cat flap in our house sad I'd settle for a bfp instead though, no cat flap required!

commsgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 14:27:18

I'm going to poas on Thursday if no ertd. if I can manage to hold out that long

essie so exciting about KOL. They are amazing live. Let us know how it is!

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 14:43:43

question ... if you 'sme' early after ovving = more likely a boy? is this true?

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 14:44:39

boy sperms = speedy, girl sperms = endurance?

or am I dreamin g all this hahaha

also Im sure there are dietary things = more chance of girls etc

PrincessKitKat Tue 09-Jul-13 14:47:07

Hello Ladies, please can I join? I lurked the whole of your last thread (oh how I laughed grin & was sad confused with you all) but now I have defo not 'done a kitten' I feel brave enough to enter...

EssieSaysRelax Tue 09-Jul-13 14:54:53

Hi Kitkat! Welcome to the mad house/cave! Don't think any of us cope all that well with the 2ww.

Choc I have no idea I'm afraid. Though I remember reading somewhere once you are more likely to have a boy if you eat lots of breakfast cereal because its fortified with boy making vits and mins or something. <noshes another bowl of rice crispies>

Bearfacedchic Tue 09-Jul-13 16:30:25

Hello Kit! Nice to know you were sharing with us all on the last Fred even though we didn't know it. Are there others out there? <Calls out into cyberspace> <only an echo returns> come on out! We don't bite. Promise!

There's been 2 BFPs on another Fred I'm on ATM which is amazing. The most recent was someone who's been Ttc for quite a while I think. I'm so pleased for them both and it's also given me a bit of hope. smile

So there is BFP action going on. It must just be spread around the different freds.--if I join as many as I can, maybe one will get me!--

Bearfacedchic Tue 09-Jul-13 16:57:53

Errr, I also meant to ask, <shuffles awkwardly>, can anyone of Cookie explain the Fred title to me? I really like it, but I don't know if it refers to a song or film or something? I'm not very 'with it' do I wouldn't know. blush

Bearfacedchic Tue 09-Jul-13 16:58:47

*Anyone or cookie
*so I wouldn't know

roodles84 Tue 09-Jul-13 17:36:50

Since you promised not to bite, I'll say hello. smile

DH and I have only started TTC since late June, so we're experiencing the first 2ww now.
The original plan was just lots of dtd and when ERTD is late, then POAS.
I'm now 11dpo and I've not had any symptoms (but then from what I've read around here, quite a few people don't get any symptoms). I'm trying to stay relaxed about it all since it's the first month and we were a bit late starting, so I'm going to try to wait to POAS until ERTD is at least 5 days late = a week tomorrow.

That's what I'm telling myself. I'll try.

AndieDisestablishment Tue 09-Jul-13 18:02:43

Choc Yes, there's a theory that boy sperm are fast but die quickly so having sex near time of ov makes a boy more likely and girl sperm live longer and swim slower. However that study was I only correct for 75% of cases so it still anybody's guess.
I don't think dietary things come into it unless what the man eats effects how many of each gender sperm he produces. The sex of baby all depends on whether an X or Y sperm gets that egg that month so anything you eat won't matter really.

Hi newbies. There's a fair old bunch of us on here now eh?

Bear I'm clueless about the fred title too.

Currently using my positive mental attitude to ward off the arrival of ERTD tomorrow. My dogs decided to use my microwave doggy that I use when my cramps start as a chew toy and he is no more so I'm hoping that's a good omen, as in I won't need him for 9 months anyway so it doesn't matter. >crosses fingers<

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 19:00:10

looking at SMEP and wondering if you did an 'inverse smep' where you dtd on the 'off' days instead! probably end up with triplets or something v bonkers.

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 19:01:49

it's a bit of a bugger that even SMEPPING to the max = only 1/4 chance so seeing as Ive ballsed up my SMEP anyway <lazily swims across the pity pool> at least it's cool in here
pass us a capirinha someone

Bearfacedchic Tue 09-Jul-13 19:02:48

Yay for coming out from behind the curtains Roodles! Nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy it here.

Wow- what a big list we have! smile

Andie- I have everything firmly crossed for you. It could be a coincidence about doggy but I want it to be true so it's now an omen grin

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 19:03:08

there are 22 of us on the list now grin

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 19:04:50

and 3 of us have names linked to chocolate

DulcetMoans Tue 09-Jul-13 19:12:16

Ewwww quark, I never knew that. Gross! You'll never look at her the same again! Lol.

Choc - my understanding is the same as andie below. Speed and longevity of sperm are related to the gender but i don't think diet impacts it. The decision lies in the sperm so can't see how anything the woman does would impact the gender.

Sounds like some testing going on soon then. Surely a BFP is on its way in here!

PrincessKitKat Tue 09-Jul-13 21:02:40

I hear tight pants = girls and doggy style = boys... Is this true?!

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:28:41

l.o.l. tight pants! in this heat! trend for gents skinny jeans could be affecting birth ratio grin tough bird girl x sperm

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:29:54

Instead of Ymca

It's POAS

It works in my head, I realise that may not be the case for everyone grin

ChocChaffinch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:52:14

genius! with a 'j' !

PrincessKitKat Tue 09-Jul-13 22:05:19

grin cookielove.
Works for me!

AndieDisestablishment Tue 09-Jul-13 22:20:36

Cookie Genius!!

KitKat According to the same (inconclusive) study deeper penetration makes a boy more likely as it allows the sperm with least longevity a shorter route to the egg so yeah, theoretically doggy style gives you more chance of conceiving a boy. But seeing as there's only a 25% chance of conceiving at all it's definitely more luck than judgement whichever sex you get.

Thanks Bear, keep feeding my crazy. smile

ZingWidge Tue 09-Jul-13 23:09:20

oh I'm so tempted to TTC just so I can join a thread like this..envy

good luck to you all, sending you good fertility vibes! wink

Bearfacedchic Tue 09-Jul-13 23:35:10

Thanks Zing! Are you sure you don't want to? wink Well, you're more than welcome to hang out and chat but beware our TTC grumbles and obsessions! grin

Cool Cookie! Sorry, I get it now. <slaps forehead> Jermaine Jenius (for any footie fans) (Auto-correct wanted 'footsie fans' grin)

Quark - genuinely interested as to why your dog is eating her babies' poo?! Is it to get all the nutrients back or something?

Kit- tight pants = low sperm count as the balls get too hot and can stop producing good quality and good quantities of sperm. Tight pants are a no no for Ttc although some people like Mick Jagger seem to have no bloody problem

Redshoes56 Wed 10-Jul-13 00:19:24

Just stopping by to say hi to viroids new and ... old doesn't sound nice ... not-so-new? grin I did two things this week. 1. Made an appointment with the lady doc to get my referral for the specialist - big step here. 2. Splurged on the expensive fertility monitor (I KNOW, the worst kind of contraband too, I'm a terrible JSer); I should get a BFP immediately upon spending that kind of money, right? Tempting fate.

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 00:20:22

Hi Red! I'm still awake. It's gone midnight here. Glad you found us. How's things stateside?

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 00:22:53

Ah cross posts! Well done on making the appointment. How long do you have to wait? And of course now you've done those two things you're bound by the law of sod to get upduffed. It's the Law. grin

coffeewineandchocolate Wed 10-Jul-13 05:29:21

hi all. just checking in! Good to see some new faces :-). ertd due tomorrow in the coffee house. had some weird symptoms so did a test at the weekend to check I could drink and it was bfn so not holding out hope.

Getting impatient now!

pizzaqueen Wed 10-Jul-13 07:19:21

andie we conceived my DS doggy style blush and he's a boy so maybe there's something in that theory hmm .

My hcg levels are still hanging around from my miscarriage (which started four weeks ago) but yesterday the doc was confident they'd come down soon, so I'm looking forward desperate to get back to JSing soon. It's been over 5 weeks, - longest in my life to abstain. DP and I have been bickering more than usual, not ssure if the lack of S-ing has anything to do with it.

DulcetMoans Wed 10-Jul-13 08:46:43

So I just walked past a lady on the stairs who was talking on the phone about a doctors appointment and how if she was ovulating she would get assisted help. A real life TTCer! Obviously I said nothing and just walked past but good to know there are others in real life too!

Zing if you aren't TTC you could join and POAS with us and be happy when you get a BFN. Could be an interesting role reversal.

You're doing well not to best testing all the time cookie. Did you do one today??

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 09:09:45

Morning viroids.

red well done on making your appointment. Law of sod says you will be upduffed imminently!

pizzaqueen Wed 10-Jul-13 09:11:17

me too Dulcet I can't wait to poas for and get a BFN so I can get back to JSing. Doc said to wait another 3 weeks before poas but not sure I can wait that long!

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 09:17:29

oh thanks virions ( is it?)

I'd love to cheer you on - didn't know that POAS was a spectator sport!grin grin grin

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 09:20:04

Morning viroids!
Kings of Leon were amazing, I am a bit hoarse and a bit tired today. They were soooo good though.

Maybe eating loads of breakfast cereals creates a better environment down there for the boy sperm to swim in? Just a theory?! Like eating lots of grapefruit at ov time is meant to make EWCM better isn't it? It definitely said if the woman eats lots of cereal then they are more likely to have a boy, and it was in OK! Magazine or something similar so it was definitely true. I didn't realise though that some sperms were girl sperm and some were boys. Fascinating.

Don't think I'm ovving yet cos I used contraband this morning but still no dark line, which is good, cos DH isn't back til tomorrow night.

Cookie love the musical fred title btw. Inspired.

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 09:23:53

Zing, we synchro pee sometimes too. grin

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 09:38:03

harking back to A level biology

women are XX
men are XY
so eggs are all 1/2 X anyway
the men add in the second X= a girl or the second Y= boy

on the Y chromosome is the ability to have hairy ears. thank fuck women don't have that ... [relief face]

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 10:00:36

viroids, of course, got it.

are you first time TTC or do you have kids?

essie grin

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 10:02:06

ok, I'll read thread....

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 10:27:28

I think I may have ovulated but I'm too scared to stop JSing in case I was wrong and then we miss our window!!

My husband is knackered but I just can't stop! grin

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 10:28:34

We're a whole variety zing but check out the roll call which will tell you. As for Poas being a spectator sport- yep. We even have pom poms that come out occasionally!

Glad you enjoyed KOL Essie. Cool.

Well I Poas again today (I have an IC habit, I know) and bfn. hmm Well, it would be rude to go to the referral appt upduffed now wouldn't it?

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 10:29:57

Good on you Writer- keep working the magic!

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 10:33:31

I'm only on cycle 1 and I'm scared at how much TTC has taken over my every thought.....

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 10:50:45

I think that does happen Writer, but as time goes on you do have to get on with your life and so it's always there but under the surface somewhere. Others might disagree though! Hopefully you won't have to wait that long though! grin

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 10:54:04

I'm hoping not.

When I was young I accidentally fell pregnant. It had been from a one off moment of unprotected stupidity with my boyfriend. And even though I took the morning after pill I still got pregnant.

I'm hoping that means I'm quite fertile grin

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 11:18:48

That does sound hopeful Writer in an ironic and weird way.

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 13:01:18

writer my dh is utterly knackered too shock
only on d9 of smep. no stamina. <shakes head>
which is why I was pondering what would occur if we inversed our smep to dtd on the off days to allow him 3 days off!
probably wouldn't work rendering the whole thing a waste of a month.

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 13:26:38

Just went to POAS but my bladder got stage fright...

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 14:09:57

OMG - it's in New Scientist, it must be true!!

eat cereal = have boys

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 14:21:57

I just got a BFP!!

Can we..

A. Pretend I didn't just share this news on this Fred before I told DP.

B. Tell me how I'm going to get through the next three hours at work??

AQuarkTooFar Wed 10-Jul-13 14:22:49

Yay comms yay!

Oooooo how you going to tell your dp?

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 14:30:53

Yay comms! Amazing news! Will DP be there when you get home from work? xx

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 14:31:59

I have no idea! He's working away till Friday so I'll just probably end up blurting it out as soon as he walks through the door. Or make some sort of sculpture out of the inevitable 1000 pee sticks I'll use between now and then!

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 14:45:00

Haha! You could arrange them all to say BFP! Can you tell him on the phone? I know I wouldn't be able to hold it in til Fri!

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 14:50:00

love the poas sculpture idea...

Congrats comms!!!!! exciting!!

what symptoms have you got?? list in detail please <fascinated>

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 14:56:58

I remember you said you were falling-asleep-at-your-desk-tired earlier this week??

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 15:00:19

choc honestly nothing to write home about. Really sore boobs, cramps and twinges but no different to when I'm expecting ertd really. I thought I was out! Looking back now I know I am, I have been a lot more tired than usual, especially around this time of day and have felt a bit light headed on occasion. I was just putting that down to the heat though. I've been really forcing myself not to symptom spot this month so there might be other things that I've missed. I'm exactly 4 weeks working from the day of my last period, and I think I'm about 12-14dpo.

Just keeping my fingers very firmly crossed for the next eight weeks now!

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 15:00:26

yep Essie and Babs boobs still?

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 15:01:29

lovely news grin smile

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 15:02:42

essie I've been pinning my eyes open every afternoon this week!

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 15:19:28

It's it amazing that even this early on it can make you that exhausted!! Tis fascinating.

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 15:20:19

3 cheers for essie!

have you told MrEssie yet?

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 15:28:45

haha! I wish! It's comms thats up the duff not me!

<hopes Zing is in fact a psychic>

AndieDisestablishment Wed 10-Jul-13 15:39:32

Congrats Comms You've christened the new fred, hope its a good sign for the rest of us. I like the pee stick sculpture idea. smile

It worked for you then [Pizza] My ex was a missionary kind of guy and I have one of each so no science went into that.lol

If the cereal theory is in New Scientist then I bow to it's superiority. What do I need to eat for a girl? grin

ERTD has not shown itself yet. I am NOT peeing on a stick for a week as my body is sneaky and likes to betray me.

AQuarkTooFar Wed 10-Jul-13 15:43:03

It really is fac

AQuarkTooFar Wed 10-Jul-13 15:45:43

It really is fascinating how it can affect you this early! Hope you don't get too many more Nasty prego side effects comms

I am due ertd today but no sign, will test Fri morn I think as I have a day off! You have got me excited about poas now comms!

AQuarkTooFar Wed 10-Jul-13 15:46:31

How many days late are you andie?

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 15:48:42

Congratulations Comms!!! X x x

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 15:49:47

Woo hoo Comms! Congrats! Have you just done a kitten? How exciting! At least the knowledge of it might keep you awake for the next few hours. grin

AndieDisestablishment Wed 10-Jul-13 16:06:03

I was due today Quark same as you. I normally wake up in a sticky mess but nothing. JSed for fun because I was so pleased. Sod's law she'll turn up tomorrow while I'm at work. Fx though, I await your peeing escapades with hope. smile

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 16:19:20

Oooo I love a busy fred.

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 16:21:13

3 cheers for comms then!

I feel like some idiot football fan who is not cheering for the player who scored!grin

I hope you lot will tolerate me anyway...

grin at essie, not psychic, but certainly sending positive energy to all of you to get your BFPs!

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 16:22:31

grin Zing at cheering for the wrong side!

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 16:27:23

I think BFP sounds like a political party.

Baby & Fertility Party?

Better be Fetus Party?

Believe & Fuck Party?

what do you think?

Bearfacedchic Wed 10-Jul-13 16:32:41

The latter, definitely. grin

EssieSaysRelax Wed 10-Jul-13 16:37:53

Yes, agree, definitely the latter!

Still hoping you are psychic and you don't even know it yet zing!

I've got a bit of EWCM. Ov is due any min according to my app. DH back tomorrow night. I am going to do tons of house work tonight and go food shopping so I don't have anything to do tomorrow night except shag him!

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 16:43:11

grin essie

I'll say this then: 3 cheers for tomorrow night's shagathon and here's to hoping that this ovulation will produce a good egg!wink

roodles84 Wed 10-Jul-13 17:17:06

Yay Comms, brilliant news!

As a newbie to this ttc game, I have a question for all you lovely ladies - what's your approach to booze while ttc? Have you completely stopped, stopped just during 2ww, or carrying on boozing until bfp?

For now, I have completely stopped, but I'm soon going to be in a situation where it will be very unusual for me to not be drinking...

cookielove Wed 10-Jul-13 19:05:43

Congratulations comms

roodles I don't drink any way (alcohol that is) but I know several ttc who carried on drinking till their bfp.

I think a few peeps on here also have still drunk alcohol.

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 19:07:54

Im pretty much stopped bar the odd 1/2 lager/ smll gls w/wine
don't think you should put your life on hold, balanced with being sensible to max fertility

cant you be the dessie driver wink

DulcetMoans Wed 10-Jul-13 19:13:37

I always know there's been a BFP when there are like 20 extra posts since I last looked. Congrats comms, we got one at last! Did you POAS at work?! How did you get through the afternoon?!

Liking the shag plan essie, cleaning will take your mind off it for the evening too... Yeah right! Does anything actually take your mind off it?!

Roodles - my advice is carry on as normal. I wouldn't get wrecked or anything but you can't put everything in hold. You'll drive yourselves crazy.

Finally, writer, whilst I hope your stay here is short and your BFP is quick I also had a one time mistake when I was 19 ending in getting pregnant and thought it would mean I got upduffed quite quick but 11 months in and nothing. One doesn't necessarily lead to the other...

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 19:22:16

I know, lol, just trying to be positive grin

Plus, it was 13 years ago so I'm guessing my fertility has taken a nose dive since then grin.

X x

ChocChaffinch Wed 10-Jul-13 20:12:00

<passes round positivity biscuits> biscuit biscuit biscuit

BiscuitButtonsPickles Wed 10-Jul-13 20:25:46

Hey viroids! I'm another serial lurker but not actively ttc so was too scared to come out of hiding smile the BFP forced me outta my cave so congrats comms x

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 20:27:14

Yummy biscuits!

There isn't much room though as I have just devoured an ASDA pizza grin

I'm hoping it digests quickly because the thought of DTD tonight in this bloated state isn't appealing!! Especially as it my hubby's birthday which he thinks enables him to choose our sex position tonight and I'm pretty sure he will pick the one that doesn't require him to do much work, lol grin

DulcetMoans Wed 10-Jul-13 20:32:43

Asda pizzas are the best! They are our Friday treat sometimes. Have to have separate ones though as DP choose rubbish toppings!

Writerwannabe83 Wed 10-Jul-13 20:35:49

We have only had it because of Hubby's birthday - he is usually a health food and fitness freak!!

I always think his pizzas are gross....he has steak and pepperoni. Eew!

I play it safe with plain chicken, spicy chicken, red onions and mushrooms. Yummy!!

lil1ady Wed 10-Jul-13 22:11:21

Congrats comms soooo excited for you. fx a good a sticky bean if u got a bfp with afternoon urine! how on earth did you manage to poas at work and not tell the world! I live the bfp sculpture and spelling bfp with bfps!

well cape officially out today. dh text me telling me to come home for a lunch time quickie! very unlike him, its usually me nagging that we'll never get a bfp if we don't dtd. we did have a little fall out last week when ertd arrived stupid hormones clouding my level head do I think he is starting to take on board that it ain't just gunna happen without effort! he was surprised today to learn this is cycle 7. I have to say though I feel like I can't be bothered with TTC atm. its boring me now. I just want a bfp! maybe that's a good thing, I was getting a little crazy about it. it will probably be back to obsession when I reach the twot though.

yay to red for getting the appointment sorted. and I'm interested to hear more about the swanky contraband law of the sod must be around you somewhere between those 2, no?

enjoy the shagathon tomorrow Essie. you can come and clean my house if you need more distraction grin

love the idea of zing poas for a bfn. might be nice to celebrate a bfn for someone given we see so many of the damn things!

isn't the sunshine lovely. makes me wish I had a human puppy to take to the beach and play though!

oh and wish me luck. have my appraisal at work 9am tomorrow smile

ZingWidge Wed 10-Jul-13 22:58:43

good luck lil

but I won't POAS, just had AF!

anyway I had MMR jab in May so not allowed to TTC till mid-Aug

and DH is very unconvinced about having more children and some days I agreeshock .
I'm in the phase of TTCo - trying to convince!wink ( both of us)

Redshoes56 Wed 10-Jul-13 23:00:03

Eeee! Congratulations, comms - what fabulous news. A pee stick sculpture is definitely in order. Can't wait to hear how he reacts!

Sorry I missed you last night bear, clearly I posted and ran. My appointment is in a week and a half, but that's just to chat with my doc and get the referral. I am hoping it won't be too long to get into the specialist once I have the referral.

And yes - let's go Sod and your law grin

lil good luck with the appraisal tomorrow swanky contraband is a machine that tells you when to pee on sticks and then analyzes them and keeps track of your cycle; it detects the LH surge like the regular OPK sticks, but also the estrogen surge before the LH surge, so you ultimately get notified of even more days you are potentially fertile. It hasn't told me to pee on anything yet, only 5 or 6 days since ERTD. I'll keep you posted...

Redshoes56 Wed 10-Jul-13 23:01:10

zing we were definitely TTCo ourselves in the beginning too, and we have no kids yet! Now we are in it to win it.

Love Believe & Fuck Party - that's hope and change I can get behind!

lil1ady Wed 10-Jul-13 23:34:41

lots of poas going on for you this month then red I have looked at smep for this cycle but if something doesn't happen soon I may need to buy something shiny and expensive to make me feel better. looking forward to seeing how u get on with it!

commsgirl Wed 10-Jul-13 23:39:40

Thank you everyone! I peed on two sticks at work - one so I could get a bfn, stop thinking about my Babs boobs and actually get some work done, and then another just to check smile. Second one was fainter but still definitely a line, no tilting involved! And then I took a digital one when I got home. Think I might lay off the sticks now.

Been thinking about how I'm going to tell DP but what's actually going to happen is I'm going up burst into tears and blurt it straight out so I'm not even going to attempt anything else!

lil love that your dh is building lunchtime shags into his day!

I think now bfp's are in the air someone will definitely be joining me. I've got my fingers crossed for all of you lovely viroids smile

Redshoes56 Thu 11-Jul-13 04:47:28

I just want to point out how hilarious it is to me that "afternoon urine" is an actual thing ... and that we talk about it. The laughs here keep me sane on this crazy TTC journey! Thank you [feeling all emotional]!

AndieDisestablishment Thu 11-Jul-13 06:39:39

Red Is that the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor? I was looking at those a few weeks ago The things we discuss on this fred would worry a sane person.

Essie Yay for shag plans!

Still no AF today. I feel a bit windy though so she could be on her way. Although I don't normally get sore boobs and they're killing me at the moment. hooyas self for symptom spotting

ZingWidge Thu 11-Jul-13 07:47:45

Andie that's exciting...I'm crossing fingers for you!

and your comment made me laugh.
yes, a Non-TTC person would be veryconfused

especially at the thought of another NonTTC person (me) smile smile smile smile smile posting on a Fred like this!
I have my doubts whether it's ok and even feel a bit like some online stalker, but I justify my behaviour by telling myself I'm here to support you all.
where else would that be tolerated and/or even welcome?grin

btw if any of you feel uncomfortable about me getting involved don't be afraid to say! (maybe by PM)

have a nice day y'all!smile

DulcetMoans Thu 11-Jul-13 08:48:16

Sounds like there us about to be lots of POAS happening. I must be out of sync with you all. I will pull up a chair and watch the BFPs roll in instead!

ChocChaffinch Thu 11-Jul-13 09:11:47

zing you're v welcome grin it's nice to have different perspectives, fo' sho'. d10 here in the chaffinch household. july is a looooong month.

DulcetMoans Thu 11-Jul-13 09:31:00

Oooo just had a little count on the app and in CD10 too choc. Snap!

EssieSaysRelax Thu 11-Jul-13 09:39:29

CD17 here and according to my app its ov day but I don't think its is, think its going to be another late one. DH due back this evening, but he really peed me off last night. Phoned me while walking to the curry house with his colleagues and I could tell he'd had a couple of beers and was just checking in. Would have rathered he hadn't called tbh. I know he'd had a high pressure day in the office (they are doing some pitch for a massive account they are trying to win) and they were winding down but he is always a bit awkward and restrained talking to me when he's 'at' work, I guess we all are. I know I'm being over sensitive. We are not the sort of couple who need to check in with each other constantly anyway. If I say anything he'll just feel like he can't do right so I'll leave it but... GRRR!

(thanks viroids for letting me get that off my chest!) grin
xx

ChocChaffinch Thu 11-Jul-13 10:28:36

dulcet think me you and someone else / 2 others all on same day... we're synchronising our cycles like the cave women of yore. or like deer.

Popping in to say congrats to comms on BFP! I got mine on the 4week exactly mark (now 14+6), it's ace - but you have to wait AAAAGEES to tell people grin. Although the Babs boobs do not get smaller. Become a Bravvissimo clubcard member immediately...

Good luck to everyone else, am crossing toes for more BFPs, this seems like a good lucky Fred to me (in my hormonally induced superstitious state...)

Bearfacedchic Thu 11-Jul-13 16:36:48

Ah if only. . . Ertd showed her ugly mug today. sad but like I said, I'm not surprised.

zing - I think it's great that you're here and want to hang out with us. It's definitely like living on a soap here sometimes. <digs out Frog's old drama queen crown and places it on head lopsidedly> ta da! You won't know *Frog I don't think, but she pops by sometimes. She got her BFP a while back.

Essie- I know what you mean about the awkward conversations at work with DH, but it sounds like he was trying to do the right thing. Some blokes would just not call at all and roll in drunk at 2am, then keep you awake vomming. I know that's me being extreme and only you can really know why you were irritated, but from what you said, at least he tried. Hope I'm not out of line saying that. Here have a biscuit and some brew and destress with us. X

kally195 Thu 11-Jul-13 17:09:46

Congrats to Comms for the BFP.

Sorry I introduced myself then sort of disappeared - been buried under piles of old crap we've had to sort through. 8 weeks till we move now. Woo.

ERTD has come a calling. No surprise there, but could do without the ridiculous bloat. Now where's that bucket of red wine.......

cookielove Thu 11-Jul-13 18:17:08

Hello all, smile

Urgh I feel sick I think its the heat. Although there is a bug going round work so it Eeek it could be that.

Cd15 for me!!

lil1ady Thu 11-Jul-13 18:36:58

dulcet and choc cd9 here so I'm a day behind you. weirdly I have had pant snot today which is v early for me. its too early I only got the cape back out yesterday feeling the need to stray and pee on something

zing we need all the cheering on we can get so its lovely to have you here rooting for us!

Sorry ertd got you again bear what's the latest on the appointment for you now?

Nice to hear from you Humpty hope you are only suffering with babs boobs and not too much vomming.

Essie I hope you feel better being able to come and let it out on here, it defo helps me to have you guys here. I think he probably was trying to do the right thing by calling but I totally know what you mean. I hate speaking to dh on the phone when he's with others. he's so different.

Nessalina Thu 11-Jul-13 19:56:30

Hello all smile Congratulations Comms!!!! Great news!
Loving how busy the thread is, lots to catch up on! grin

ChocChaffinch Thu 11-Jul-13 21:53:31

hmm hmm shock dh finding it hilarious to demand cups of tea and general servitude in exchange for gentleman's relish hmm

EssieSaysRelax Thu 11-Jul-13 22:09:02

blush what's gentlemans (ha ha auto correct wants gentle jams!) relish??? blush

Yeah DH was just trying to do the right thing, and now he's back and it's all fine. We've planted a clematis and played with my new beach tennis set in the garden! He brought me back lots of baked goodies (he's been pitching for a contract with a large national bakery) so I'll be like a house tomorrow, I had to put some of them in the freezer as there's only so many crumpets I can eat before the use by date! grin

bear sorry ertd got you. sad have some of my wine I just opened it so there's plenty! Xxx

ZingWidge Thu 11-Jul-13 22:10:38

phew, I'm glad you are comfortable with me being a Fred crasher!wink

<popcorn, sofa, off we go!>

what does CD10, CD17 mean?

ZingWidge Thu 11-Jul-13 22:13:12

also what's ERTD?

ChocChaffinch Thu 11-Jul-13 22:17:07

Evil Red Tide Of DOOOM aka AF

gentlemans relish = spunk

ChocChaffinch Thu 11-Jul-13 22:17:49

Cycle Day 10
day 1 is 1st day of period, and so on through month

lil1ady Thu 11-Jul-13 22:37:29

OK so now I have the ridiculous backache to go with the pant snot. this normally happens on ov day so if I have ov today I'm probably out this month sad just going to keep jsing eod and hope this is a false alarm only I could ho from oving on CD 37 to oving on cd9!

lil1ady Thu 11-Jul-13 22:42:54

zing now uv pulled up the sofa and started on the popcorn can I ask blush do you have any dcs and how did u find us if Ur not ttc ? im nosey

DulcetMoans Thu 11-Jul-13 22:52:06

Oh lil, how confusing. Just get to it anyway if you can.

We have some actual gentlemens relish in the fridge, it's a real thing! Some sort of anchovy paste DP bought, probably just for the name!

Nessalina Thu 11-Jul-13 23:07:12

Ha! Gentleman's relish! I was assuming the anchovy stuff - I'm like 'why does Choc want that so bad...?!'

Bearfacedchic Thu 11-Jul-13 23:39:00

Glad everything is sorted out for you now Lil. smile

Thanks for the commiserations. Appointment is on the 25th Lil. I just want to know now what's going on although DH and I think we've figured some of it out. I think I might have pcos and DH has a varicocele. So between us we're really not the healthiest specimens. Although we are generally quite healthy Think I upset DH a bit tonight as we were talking about stuff and I said I felt sad because I'd always imagined having 3 children but now is just bd happy with one. He didn't say much and seemed sad. It's really hard because we've both said we want to be honest about how we feel, but I don't want up upset him either. sad I'm sure he'll be fine tomorrow though.

Bearfacedchic Thu 11-Jul-13 23:40:21

*I'd just be happy with one

PrincessKitKat Thu 11-Jul-13 23:41:24

Hi viroids!
Comms - congrats! Love that you get to plan your 'im upduffed' reveal party! I'd be sewing special bunting and make a cake!

ERT has finally disappeared so treated myself to new undies (debenhams sale) for under the cape. Realised my usual old flesh coloured bobbly t-shirt bra is probably not very 'come hither' for DH.

Shopping was purely in the interests of TTC, you understand.

PrincessKitKat Thu 11-Jul-13 23:43:19

Sorry bearface - insensitive x-post. I'm sorry you're feeling sad sad

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 00:04:03

Oh no don't worry Kit. Not insensitive at all. You didn't intend it so really don't worry. I'm often feeling sad about it tbh, but I do feel happier when I come on here so I can offload it with you guys and the ladies on the BESH Fred. Sorry if that's annoying or depressing for anyone, but the support really does help. Having said all that, I really am okay. I just get downers every now and then. After 22 months I don't think it's that surprising though.

Like the idea of the new undies Kit. Very WonderWoman having them under the cape!

PrincessKitKat Fri 12-Jul-13 00:20:07

Its never annoying or depressing Bear - I really hope when you're feeling down you know how much people on here (including lurkers!) are hoping & wishing good things for you envy
My new pants are defo fit for a wonderwoman - coral polka dots.

Although the back fat is detracting.

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 00:25:12

Thanks for saying Kit. That means a lot.

Loving the sound of the undies. I'm sure you look gorge. Cor, imagine if you really did get a cape! grin Gok would be falling over himself to get to you.

Oh and it is my belief, and indeed has been for some time now, that capes will come back into fashion in the wider world.

fifi669 Fri 12-Jul-13 01:05:24

Well AF is out the way finally so it's battle lines drawn.

Pretty sure I'm going to go down the Jsing route like a demented Jack Russell all month long, with a casual eye in possible ovulation dates has blatantly downloaded the clue app for scientific accuracy

Good to see there's been a BFP already, hopefully many more to come!

I'm just into CD7 now so a long wait for me...

Redshoes56 Fri 12-Jul-13 04:53:39

Kit well done on the TTC skimpies. I like that idea - I might steal it and go shopping myself!

Bear I am glad that you feel comfortable offloading here - where else can you, especially when DH is bummed too? We are all here to remind each other to put those capes back on when we feel down. I have always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason; we'll get our babies when the time is right, even if we need the power of technology and modern medicine.

Yep, Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor. It "asked" for the first stick this morning and after fumbling with the machine like a doofus half asleep, I figured out how to get it in there right. Let's see when this thing starts "asking" us to get it on...-

AndieDisestablishment Fri 12-Jul-13 06:31:51

Let us know how that goes Red Or not, naughty!

Bear We're all here for you and are willing on your BFP like mad things. One of my friends that got her BFP at her referral actually has PCOS, she has a beautiful 2 year old now and is hoping for an unassisted DC2. I so wish this for you. Fx really tightly

Zing It's nice to have someone cheering us on. What colour are your Pom poms? smile

cookielove Fri 12-Jul-13 07:27:39

bear we love you. You never bring us down.

I love this thread. It gives me the right support I can't get in rl. Don't get me wrong people on the outside care, they just don't get it.

Every time I talk to my mum about it she does this -really annoying- little laugh like she's saying yeah right, you have a baby. (Am I reading to much into this). I think she thinks were not ready for a baby so she's trying to put me off in the most subtle way.

Any who pic on profile. I think I got a + opk. Can you look for me. Dh and I dtd on Wednesday. Thursday and hopefully tonight.

Minion Fri 12-Jul-13 07:54:33

Hi girls.
Ooh shiny new fred! I'll catch up once the rot of jet lag bores off

Minion Fri 12-Jul-13 08:06:49

Ooh and congrats comms

AQuarkTooFar Fri 12-Jul-13 08:27:19

cookie I would say that looks positive!

bear I hope you are ok, this ttc is a mean old business and just because you are focusing on getting that first child on the go just now doesn't meant once they are born you won't want to go again. It may just be that it feels like a lot of effort just now to go through this again. I hope you get your answers. In the meantime flowers and brew for you.

I am two days late, cd36 and got a bfn this morning. I was 9 days late last month so obviously my cycles have decided to lengthen! Or I'm just very very irregular! sad

DulcetMoans Fri 12-Jul-13 08:32:27

Oh don't feel like you bring us down bear, we are all here for the same reason and that includes pick me ups when we are down. And asking questions! I wouldn't have anyone to ask/discuss this stuff really if it wasn't for the fred.

Just wanted to do a little anonymous thank you to my DP who has taken my recommendation (read tear filled outburst when AF came last month) and has really tried for every other day so far. He was even naked when I came to bed last night, except for his cape! The boys can get capes too, right?

PrincessKitKat Fri 12-Jul-13 09:05:37

Mums are just odd Cookie. Sorry she's not being more supportive. We should make a note to try not to be judgy over our DCs when they arrive smile
Boy capes! My DHs would have to be blue, everything he owns is blue, although he dressed in a sludge green Tshirt, with khaki shirts and brown shoes the other day. He looked like a tree blush

bear, what kitkat said - we all will you on, all the time! I do! I do mental poms poms for you whenever I lurk here.

kitkat why do boys like sludge colours? I hate them. DH used to have poo coloured BEDSHEETS. Like, in case of accidents or something. So very vile and wrong.

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 11:46:51

I heart you guys. smile

Poo coloured bedsheets? grin Made for men. Ooo you could have a whole range of 'camouflage' clothes and textiles. Why has no one thought of this before?!

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 11:48:03

grin at DH looking like a tree Kit.

EssieSaysRelax Fri 12-Jul-13 11:53:21

My DH's cape would be burgundy with brown stripes. He'd have the whole house decked out in burgundy if he could. Oh wait, he did when I met him?!!

Bear just to echo what everyone else said. You never bring me down. It was you that led me to this fred when I first started to realise I couldn't cope with this ttc thing by myself (well with DH but you know what I mean!). I'm totally rooting for you and I'm here for you through the ups and downs til you get your bearcub and I know you will. Don't ever feel you can't let it all out of this fred cos you can. This ttc is hard, way harder than I thought it'd be and I'm so grateful for all of you guys. You just can't share this stuff in RL because not everyone you know is going through it at the same time like we are.

I'm not doing great this week. DH is not being very supportive, he's just so flipping laid back about everything he doesn't see I'm struggling til I implode. I had a bit of a meltdown this morning before I left for work and I had to go to an awards ceremony and collect an award first thing. I thought I was collecting it on behalf of the company but actually it was presented to me personally with my name on and everything so I had to get a grip on myself and not cry cos I was feeling so pathetic. What a complete berk! And I've got my naffing review this afternoon with the MD too. Someone hooya me so I can get through the day without crying please.

ETA - does anyone else get stupidly emotional around ov time?!! Jeez its worse than pmt.

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 11:56:52

Cookie - it's odd isn't it? I haven't really discussed it with my mum, but it was forced upon us by SIL who asked me outright at a family dinner in front of everyone. I think I mumbled, 'Well, we'll see,' or something equally vague, but then after my mum, who is normally so difficult to talk to about everything sensitive issues, told me outright that it's got nothing to do with anyone but me and DH. I was shock at her openness and sensitivity. So, they're funny animals, mothers. I think most people with an ounce of sense will have realised by now that we're having ishoos except for stupid SIL who I had to take to one side and spell it out to

Sorry your mum isn't being more supportive though. Maybe if you were to subtly explain to her that you're serious about it and that you need her to support you, she might change her tune. I'm sure if she knew, she'd be more understanding.

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 12:03:41

Hang in there Essie and well done on holding it together at the ceremony. Maybe you need to go and have a good cry in the loo and get it all out (reminds me of 'Friends' when they have the male nanny and he says you have to get all the boo-hoos out and so Ross does and can't stop crying!) I always feel so much better after a cry. It's cathartic for me. I find trying to hold it in all the time is more difficult. Don't forget to take your make-up with you!

Thank you all for your supportive messages. It really does mean a lot. <hands out girl crushes like sweets to you all> I'll do my very best to be there for you all too when you need me. <heart emoticon>

EssieSaysRelax Fri 12-Jul-13 13:30:54

Thanks Bear. Trying to psyche myself up over a cheese sarnie ahead of my review so I'm not a total doormat. I plan to have a G&T (might as well feed the fire!) and a massive cry when I get home!

My shag plan was pointless because he came home and watched the tour de france (his friend is in it so I ought to be more sympathetic!) for hours and I went to bed without him, then he refused to wake up this morning, perhaps because he'd stayed up too late watching TDF?!! He keeps saying, 'there, there, it'll happen in time'. Not at this frigging rate it won't. It'd have to be immaculate conception. I know he's had a hard week away working on a shitty competitive pitch and wanted to wind down, and I'm probably just being a ttc lunatic.

Sorry about your SIL Bear, thats crappy, but well done for taking her aside and telling her, did she feel bad? Hope she's been more sensitive since. My Mum is ok, but I can't really talk to her about it cos she gets emotional (and my Mum is generally quite tough, so it's a bit scary when she does!) she is probably even more terrified than I am that I'm going to miss the boat and leave it all too late, mainly cos she started the menopause at 36, so she literally thinks I have 3.5 years left to do this or it's all over.

Argh, I'm sorry viroids. You can put me in the pity pool and hold me under if you want!

PrincessKitKat Fri 12-Jul-13 13:33:05

grin at MrEssies horrid cape.

Congrats! What was your award for?
God I'd LOVE an award with my name on. I'm field based so I'd take it to every visit and sit it on my 'desk of the day' so others would think I'm a tosser be in awe.

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 13:42:04

essie

here's a stupid joke to cheer you up:

knock knock
who's there?
Europe
Europe who?
no, you're a poogrin

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 13:59:05

lil
I sent you a PM.
I found this in "Active" the other day/night.

bear
I'm here to cheer you up and cheer you on.
22 months is slightly longer than average, but all is not lost!
I always thought that the more focus is on TTC the more likely the body has "stagefright" IYSWIM.

I know that the hardest thing is to take your mind off things, but I know so many people who conceived when they decided to change jobs, move houses or "gave up".
it's almost like the focus and the pressure was off and everything fell into place!

I hope I'm not upsetting you! I think that getting checked out is a good idea and I applaud that you are so honest here and with your DH.
upsetting stuff doesn't go away magically or by people keeping silent.

keep talking lovely!
(bear hugwink )

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 14:02:35

Andie

I have pink pompoms in one hand, blue in the other.
I'm well prepared...grin

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 14:06:26

and one more thing, what you call gentleman's relish MrZing calls it Baby Gravy!grin grin grin

EssieSaysRelax Fri 12-Jul-13 14:28:20

haha! love the joke! grin

The award is for 'a particular and distinctive contribution to education' in my county. I help organise projects and challenges for schools kids or differing abilities to help them experience the world of work, and hopefully to inspire them a bit. I do it pretty much volutarily, but my company are very supportive (and it ticks corporate social responsibility boxes!) so I get to do it in work time mostly. It's makes me realise how blimming hard it must be to be a teacher. They don't get any recognition and they are trying to educate and inspire these kids every day. I may have to take the award into my review with me and put it on the table! Thanks for the idea kitkat! Haha!

pizzaqueen Fri 12-Jul-13 15:34:41

Thus thread moves fast I'm finding it hard to keep track. smile

congrats in the bfp Comms!! are there any others I have missed?

in other news I got a bfn today, which means my miscarriage should be complete (finally after 5 weeks!). so hopefully I get an af soon and can get back to the JSing obviously I'm devastated for the little bean we lost but just want to move on with ttc now. a bit of a reverse from everyone on here i was actually happy to see the bfn. although it was just a cheapy amazon test, how reliable are they?

EssieSaysRelax Fri 12-Jul-13 15:54:42

I think the cheapy ones are almost the best as they are v sensitive? They are the ones they use at the Drs anyway! So sorry you've been through a mc. So heartbreaking. Glad seems the wrong word, but I can't think of a more appropriate one, so, glad you are now getting a bfn, so it's over, and you can get back on the shag train soon and fx it won't be long before you get a sticky bfp.

Review went well, off to polish my award now (and perhaps do some actual work?!)

EssieSaysRelax Fri 12-Jul-13 16:02:47

ooh and bear, are you allowed to tell me this? Don't want to get you into trouble but what does BESH stand for??????!!!

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 16:12:33

pizzaqueen so sorry to hear about your loss!
it is heartbreaking to loose a child at any stagesad
(hugs & thanks)

did you have an ERPC?
Let's hope you'll get your AF soon! smile

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 16:25:04

quark with my DS2 I was 3 weeks late when I had my 1st BFP!

I know the day he was conceived - I expected AF the next day, but I happened to ov very late that month, so here he is, 10 tomorrow!

so who knows? fingers crossed!

PrincessKitKat Fri 12-Jul-13 16:28:08

So sorry to hear PizzaQueen, but really pleased your body is getting itself ready to try again. FX for sticky beans all round.

That sounds bloody amazing Essie! I would defo have taken my trophy to my review and plonked it I between me & boss as a physical statement of my fabulosity.
I would also like to know what a BESH is please!

roodles84 Fri 12-Jul-13 17:03:45

Wow this forum moves fast! I'm off away for the weekend, going to do my best to avoid the wine as ERTD was due today, but we'll see if I manage to resist!

Fx for anyone poas over the weekend!

PrincessKitKat Fri 12-Jul-13 17:23:26

Roodles -FX!
I shall have a wine for you and all the other abstainers on the fred tonight as I'm post ERT and out on the town! It's been a while.

Anyone else out on the razzle?! What you wearing? blush

pizzaqueen Fri 12-Jul-13 17:34:12

thanks zing, I didn't get the choice of an erpc I just mc naturally after a scan where they couldn't be sure whether baby was growing sad I thought I was 9 weeks but baby mustve died around 6 weeks.

good luck to all those poas ers over the weekend. as im not officially ttc yet I would join you but im trying to lose weight and cant afford the extra calories!

pizzaqueen Fri 12-Jul-13 17:35:55

I mean join you on the winewine the heat is getting to me!

lil1ady Fri 12-Jul-13 17:42:07

Hi everyone. wanted to post earlier but my phone app kept crashing. again. does anyone else have that sometimes? I apologise if I get ppls posts mixed up as I read them all 5hrs ago nearly!

anyway. firstly bear I would just like to echo everyone else's thoughts. I feel so lucky to have found a group of people so lovely to share my ups and downs with on this TTC rollercoaster. we are all here for each other no matter how bad it gets.

Essie I felt quite down the other week and dh only ever says It'll happen or maybe next time. we ended up having a bit of a row but once I explained how much more it is to take on for me because I'm the one symptom spotting and worrying about when I ovulate etc etc and how that makes me feel under more pressure he started to get it. maybe you guys need to talk ? but I'm pretty sure immaculate conception is going to take longer.

sorry to hear about your mc pizza and I too am "glad" for you and your bfn. (Essie Ur right glad seems an odd word but the only one)

Lol at Ur joke zing .. I'm now off to find out how to get my pm!

Rockchick1984 Fri 12-Jul-13 17:54:30

Wow, went away for a few nights and this fred is mad busy!!!

Pizza I had a missed miscarriage in April at 12 week scan, now 6+3 with new baby (fingers, toes and eyes tightly crossed that everything works out ok this time) so was only 2 months this time to conceive, far less than it took with lost baby. Apparently you're super fertile for 6 months following a miscarriage. Glad you got your BFN, it felt horribly real for me at that stage but also felt like closure.

Roodles I didn't cut down on drinking while TTC - it's 5 weeks anyway until the baby starts getting nutrients from what you consume by which time chances are you know you're upduffed!

Red glad you've booked the appointment, let us all know how you get on.

Cookie looks like a positive opk to me, so if you're SMEP-ing you need to don the cape the next 3 days, one day off, then one day on again. I did it slightly differently as I got +ives for 3 days so I dtd each day I had a positive, then 3 days after too. Poor DH was shattered grin <evil laugh> but it worked smile

Bear don't ever feel like you can't offload on here when you're stressed about it - that's the whole point in coming on these threads - a hug when you need it, a HOOYA when you push it too far (joking) flowers

Hi to everyone else, congratulations Comms on the BFP!!

pizzaqueen Fri 12-Jul-13 18:03:05

thanks rockchick, I feel like I have had lots of time to grieve and the bfn is closure, I'll do one again in a few days to make sure. sorry to hear about your mc but so happy to hear you are upduffed again!

I have a 2 year old and ive just appreciated him so much this last month I feel truly blessed to have him but would love to give him a sibling if we can. I'm 24 so hoping I have age on my side at least smile

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 18:07:40

pizza you are a very young chick indeed, you have plenty of time! smile
I had DS1 a month before my 27th birthday!

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 18:14:59

Pizzaqueen - I'm really sorry about your MC. I'm really hoping the next one is a sticky bean for you. thanks I hope you're okay and now, as others have said, you can hopefully move forwards. I'm glad you feel like you're getting there. xxx

Essie and whoever else asked (sorry I can't remember who and I'm on the wrong page now!) BESH stands for 'Barren, Evil, Selfish, Hags' in a completely ironic way obviously although the barren, perhaps not so ironic It's directed towards all those folks and I guess the media who blame us all for apparently wanting it all and leaving TTC too late and focusing on our careers, or ourselves, etc. The thread intro. explains it much better than I do. Most ladies on there are 30+ I think and in the nose-diving fertility club. Allegedly. Despite sounding scary, they are raucously funny and lots of them are stoically going through IVF and other treatments, and have been TTC for at least a couple of years. They're a lovely bunch, should anyone want to join. smile It's difficult spreading myself across 3 threads though (I'm on another, less frequently used one too!)

Thanks Zing for the words of wisdom and the joke. grin I think we do have proper ishoos though, so unless there is some kind of miracle, I don't think it's going to happen naturally. I gave up my job in the hope that I could de-stress and thought that that would work. It clearly didn't. So, we'll just have to see what they say at the appointment. Thanks for the cheering on and up though - it makes all the difference. smile

Well done on the review Essie! <spits and polishes award for her> It sounds like you definitely deserve it! I, for one, am so glad for people like you. I am a teacher, so I know how difficult it can be walking into a classroom full of teenagers and trying to inspire and motivate them. It's so good that you give up some of your time to do that. Have another award from me. <digs Frog's crown out from back pocket> Sorry, I know it's officially a drama queen crown, but it's all I have. Let's call it multi-purpose.

fifi669 Fri 12-Jul-13 18:16:51

Bear it seems ridiculous but giving up seems to work! My DS was conceived when I decided I couldn't have any and took home tests to see if I could, my bestie had tried for a year, had tests at the docs conceived straight after. Another friend told me she'd been trying over 18 months. I told her to just shout out loud, I give up! I said it would trick her body.... Now 14 weeks gone. Worth a shout!

I read earlier about old wives tales for conceiving boys... On the dm website I saw that one was to conceive girls up your dairy and carbs, lower protein and go missionary. Lie prone for an hour post dtd.....

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 18:27:49

Thanks for the advice Fifi. I've tried everything else, so maybe it wouldn't hurt. But the problem is, I could say it, but I don't really believe it . . . it's almost impossible to give up on something you want so much because that means acknowledging a life without children and a life without your own genetic imprint on the world. I know you meant it more lightheartedly than I'm taking it, (bless you) and I do appreciate the suggestion, and I'll probably even try it, but I guess I'm saying I'm not ready to give up yet.

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 18:28:30

Hope that doesn't sound rude Fifi. x

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 18:47:02

shock Just counted properly on my fingers (!) and we're on cycle 24, not 22, as I previously thought and wrote! How did that happen? Clearly my lack of numeracy skills Although it does mean we'll be that much closer to IVF, should we need it. They want you to have tried naturally for 3 years I believe before they'll do anything.

fifi669 Fri 12-Jul-13 18:52:30

No it sounded fine Bear I certainly hadn't given up and never had they. It was just a way of having a bit if a pity party and letting it out.

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 18:55:48

I think I agree with fifi

when life gets too much and I get too stressed or tired I say I give up, I can't do this anymore. probably every day.
of course I don't really mean it, but even if I brake down in tears from being so frustrated, that feeling of hitting rock bottom is so liberating somehow!
it's like getting a new surge of energy to get up again, try harder - coz the only way is up!

so no, of course don't give up, but it is ok to admit you've had enough - for now.
you see what I mean?

( I'm a Christian, so I believe that when you are down God will lift you up. not meaning to preach though smile)

when is your appointment?

fifi669 Fri 12-Jul-13 19:08:53

Bear when did you first contact the doctor about problems conceiving? Generally they say you should first approach after a year of trying or 6 months if over 30 (or 35 one if those). Anyway the IVF guidelines have changed to 2 years of TTC naturally. One of which can be before you've seen a doctor....

http://www.nice.org.uk/newsroom/pressreleases/UpdatedGuidelinesReviseFertilityTreatment.jsp

Bearfacedchic Fri 12-Jul-13 19:26:57

Yes, I see what you're saying now Fifi and Zing. I guess 'give up' isn't part of my vocabulary. grin I'm just that sort of person! Maybe I'll hit the bottom after the appointment, but I feel like I've got quite deep reserves, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I'll see what I can do!

Fifi - I actually casually mentioned an abnormally long period to the doctor when I went in for something else and she put in a referral there and then. That was in October 2012, so we've been in the system since then. We started TTC August 2011, but I've looked on my local hospital's rules and they say 3 years. (Thanks for the link - useful to have. I might print it out.) From what I can tell, most hospitals and PCTs seem to use guidance as just that, 'guidance' and set their own rules, but maybe I'm jumping the gun. Worst case scenario, we'll have to wait until the 3 years is up, which is next August. I'll be 35 by then.

Zing - I sometimes think about 'Footprints' and it does help. thanks

fifi669 Fri 12-Jul-13 20:34:00

Bear possibly post code lottery going on there? Worth investigating areas near you to see their guidelines. You're now allowed to choose the hospital you're treated at......

DulcetMoans Fri 12-Jul-13 20:37:58

Jeez you have all moved quick today!

Congrats on the award and review essie. You deserve a treat for that!

I don't know much about IVF but the waiting must be the hardest bit. Hope you get some support and answers soon.

AndieDisestablishment Sat 13-Jul-13 07:43:50

Wow, it's taken me an hour to read through yesterday's happenings.
Essie Congrats on the award and positive work review. You sound like a very inspiring person. Mad props. smile
Bear Look at your nearby NHS trust policies and ask to be referred to one that has the two year policy. Can't remember who said it (sorry!) but yes, you can choose where you want to be treated.

Still no ERTD here so 4 days late. Resisting the urge to test.

cookielove Sat 13-Jul-13 10:25:35

Hello all smile

Congratulations essie very nice!!

Bah dh was away last night so we couldn't dtd. Hopefully he'll be back later!!!

Off to a baby shower today. Still haven't got a gift!!

Writerwannabe83 Sat 13-Jul-13 10:43:30

Def POAS time! How have you held out do long Andie ?

AndieDisestablishment Sat 13-Jul-13 12:18:44

I'm trying desperately to prove to myself (and DP) that I have willpower and am not a complete crazy peeing person. Trying to hold out til Weds. Might cave in the morning.lol

fifi669 Sat 13-Jul-13 12:27:26

Me and DH I still don't know what that stands for are both highly impatient so the 9 months cooking time will last forever, let alone the time trying to conceive!

ZingWidge Sat 13-Jul-13 12:36:38

Andie

morning pee is best for sure and tomorrow seems like a good day....
come on woman!wink

( my DS2 is 10 today! )

Happy Birthday Little Zing

Yeah, to be honest, my first wee this morning was at 6.30 when the dog woke me up crying to go out so I didn't even think of pee sticks, I thought "shut up dog....wow, I need the toilet"

fifi669 Sat 13-Jul-13 14:16:43

DS, DP,DH? What do they all stand for?

PrincessKitKat Sat 13-Jul-13 14:32:40

FiFi- Dear Son, Dear Partner, Dear Husband etc
The 'dear' is a bit cringy IMO...smile

ZingWidge Sat 13-Jul-13 14:37:07

or it can mean Darling....

or even better: Dahling!grin

Nessalina Sat 13-Jul-13 14:49:42

I always thought it was a slightly ironic 'Darling' grin
Hurrah for you Essie on getting through award and review with minimal blubbing!
The BESH Fred sounds intriguing Bear, as another old bird I might check it out. Well, I certainly feel old in this TTC world!
It's incredibly hot in Yorkshire today, pushing 30 degrees I think! DH is away for the weekend, so I'm out for a BBQ with friends tonite. Should distract me from the fact that it's cd23 today and I'm dying to POAS!! Restraint. Though thanks for the tip on the cheapies viroids, I've got 20 possible pees for only about £4 this month grin
Andie - four days over?! What are you waiting for!! Afternoon pee will do! wink

fifi669 Sat 13-Jul-13 15:24:49

Mine was certain not my DS yesterday ....when I woke after letting him sleep in with me I found a trail he'd left for me on my bed, carpet and into his room. He greeted me with a big smile, look mamma! Dooo! Hmmm cheers for that. All you TTCers there's something to look forward to 😉

Minion Sat 13-Jul-13 17:17:00

Good afternoon shag seekers!
Jet lag has gone and I'm back in the land of the sweaty and glistening upper lipped living.
Currently sat outside basking in the sun, making the most of the summer in fear it'll disappear before I turn an off white shade, fertile week here apparently, think it is as I'm getting the twinges in ovaries and feel a bit bloated so jumped at the DH chance last night, twice!
Not gonna stress this month as the house thing has taken over, we've viewed 4 and fell in love with number 4, had our 2nd viewing this afternoon and can totally see ourselves moving in. It's lush, south face gardens too.. Just wondering what price to go in with. What you lot think? It's on for 210000 but I think we may get them down between 2 and 2.5.

Welcome to all the new posters, hopefully you've all caught up with the lingo and feel at one with us all.
Hope everyone is doing well and am waiting on some synchro pee action to celebrate.
Signing off as I crack open the gin.

Symptoms wise I've had really sore and heavy feeling boobs all week, about a fortnight of wind and bloating (attractive) and a few giddy spells which I had just put down to the heat.
We were a bit more relaxed this month and actually didn't DTD loads, obviously just had perfect timing.

Right, who's next? smile

Yaaaay! andie, lovely news. I love it when I'm offline for a couple of days as I come back to a bfp! Good to know you were relaxed with the jsing and it still had desired effect! Just shows it can work!

I've had a serious chat with Mr Essie. He appreciated how different it is for me being that its all happening in my body and not his and said he needs to pay more attention and not be so gormless. He reckons we need to up our game and he is willing to rise to the occasion! grin

I'm going to my godsons 6th birthday. No idea how he got to six so quickly!

Enjoy the sunshine viroids. Love to all xxxx

Writerwannabe83 Sun 14-Jul-13 10:44:30

Congratulations Andie - what lovely news for me to wake up to!! smile

DulcetMoans Sun 14-Jul-13 11:11:01

Fantastic andie, congratulations! Please stick around, if only while you have to keep it a secret in real life! Lol. Have you decided what Gilbert might do for a job? We often decide what eventual job the egg might have if it works. is that weird?! usually its something useful like mechanic or plumber.

Hope July is a good month for the fred!

PrincessKitKat Sun 14-Jul-13 11:23:30

Fantastic news Andie, congrats! Go Gilburt!

And well done MrEssie for agreeing getting his burgundy cape dirty more often! smile

Sorry to hear Quark, hope you're ok.

Dint judge me viroids but I'm going to indulge in sone contraband this month - just want to check I'm ovving ok, then I'm back to JSing! I think I'm mainly doing it to feel pro-active, as I'm a bit of a control freak not very good at being patient.

Nessalina Sun 14-Jul-13 14:56:07

Brilliant news Andie!! grin So thrilled for you! You should totally stick around and keep us updated.
I'm totally feeling the good July vibes here - lets get some more BFPs!!

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 15:00:07

what is JSing please?

Nessalina Sun 14-Jul-13 15:42:15

Just Shagging! grin

lil1ady Sun 14-Jul-13 16:09:51

Yay Andie congratulations! what's Ur due date?

Sorry ertd showed up Quark have a nice glass of vino in the sun to make you feel better.

Good to hear MrEssie is starting to understand and up his game. My dh keeps telling me its too hot to DTD. sorry but that's just not going to wash with me! These men don't know how easy they've got it!

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 16:49:42

hooray Andie lovely news! thanks how marvellous. \good old Gilburt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AndieDisestablishment Sun 14-Jul-13 17:01:57

lil Due date is March 15th so a nice springtime baby, maybe the Easter bunny will bring him/her? grin

Thanks for the congrats all. I have told one close friend IRL (she was pg at the same time as me with my other DCs so that she can be vigilant.lol. I'm goin to test again best week (and probably repeatedly until scan) before we tell any family.

Zing I think you're a good omen.

Essie Glad Mr Essie has agreed to up his game.

cookielove Sun 14-Jul-13 17:04:51

lil my dh is the same, he can't stand the heat and is rather annoyed at me for wanting sex hmm

Rockchick1984 Sun 14-Jul-13 17:41:38

Andie come and join the March 2014 thread in antenatal groups, its nice having other people due the same time as you even if they don't have a unicorn smile

Fox82 Sun 14-Jul-13 17:47:35

On a completely unrelated note to what everyone's talking about, I can't stop singing YMCA due to this thread!! Literally can't stop.

Congrats to the BFP's

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 18:06:52

it's boobs is the symptom isn't it. big old babs boobs.
mine are shrinking in the heat for heaven's sake.

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 18:14:30

Andie I hope I am.
better stay then!wink

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 18:17:07

zing can we rub your tummy for luck! grin

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 18:22:46

yep, rub away!grin

cookielove Sun 14-Jul-13 18:32:27

Yay fox I am so happy it got stuck grin

Fox82 Sun 14-Jul-13 18:40:59

Maybe a bit too much cookie smile I was driving me and DH to work the other morning and was singing it the whole way. DH probably wondered why I was singing YMCA first thing in the morning, although he couldn't of been too concerned as he quickly joined in grin

PrincessKitKat Sun 14-Jul-13 18:50:39

Who's got a unicorn?

Nessalina Sun 14-Jul-13 19:04:47

Ha! I'm glad it's got you too Fox, that blimmin' song's been in my head all week! Not good to be singing Just Shagging at work, lol blush

AuntieMaggie Sun 14-Jul-13 21:14:12

Hi can I join you? smile

Been ttc for a few weeks now (DP thinks he's died and gone to heaven with all the shagging!) after coming off the pill. I've got PCOS and am on metformin but am hoping I can get pregnant quickly as my symptoms were under control due to the pill and metformin.

Any tips (especially keeping up in this heat and dealing with the mess) I should know about?

I lost track of the latest roll call so please can someone add me?

Name: AuntieMaggie
Any Dc's: No
TTC: June 2013

Rockchick1984 Sun 14-Jul-13 21:38:31

Kitkat I think cookie had the unicorn at last count, its the JSing lucky mascot!!

Writerwannabe83 Sun 14-Jul-13 21:48:51

Unicorn???

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 21:52:29

unicorn? what unicorn?

Please explain!

fifi669 Sun 14-Jul-13 21:53:13

Congrats Andie all the patience was worth it!

DH is a few years younger than me so luckily he's not wilting in the heat. In fact he's loving TTC, though we're only on cycle 4 so it may bore him yet....

cookielove Sun 14-Jul-13 22:07:35

unicorn I think that came up a few theads back regarding it being lucky!! Much like wearing a cape or stroking a unicorn. grin

Forgive me I need to write this down so I be lazy and use this as my reference!
Cd 17, 4dpo.

Hello newbies smile

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 22:10:33

Hi auntie sorry to ask but what is PCOS.

this thread is a lucky place to be, isn't that 2 BFPs already?? commsgirl & andie

just cosy up to lucky little zing grin

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 22:11:35

cookie I think that's a snap with my cycle too.

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 22:12:41

well choc wants to rub my belly for luck - does that make me a unicorn then?

tbh it's MrZing that has the horn....grin

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 22:14:33

choc I'm sending you good fertility vibes as we speak! wink

ChocChaffinch Sun 14-Jul-13 22:15:40

LOL zing is that why I have corn dollies dancing in my mind!

AuntieMaggie Sun 14-Jul-13 22:28:25

choc don't apologise - it stands for polycystic ovary syndrome a symptom of which can be infertility due to not ovulating. I have no idea if I ovulate or not as I've never been tested but going to just ttc before worrying about that!

I have to say its a bit nerve wracking as well as exciting ttc - this is my first time so no idea what to expect!

lil1ady Mon 15-Jul-13 07:28:58

Morning all.
auntiemaggie expect a rollercoaster ride. but that's why this fred is good, we all look after each other when we need it.
<rubs Zings belly for luck and pats the unicorn>

my summer cape is getting well warn despite the heat. we've managed EOD since cd8. I'm hoping this cape brings good luck, and hope the good vibes of the sunshine will too. this month I have decorated it with buckets and spades grin

Whoever reminded me about the smear in the last thread I'm sulking. appointment is this morning sad

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 07:49:55

pompoms in the wash, thought a nice summery bunting would cheer you all on!wink

pizzaqueen Mon 15-Jul-13 08:24:23

congratulations andie!! great news thanks

We've js' ed a few times over the weekend but dp pulled out (sorry for tmi blush) because midwife said not to get pg after mc until I've had a period so they can date it properly. feels so wrong that after 6 weeks of no dtd and being desperate to make a baby we're actively trying not to. (I know withdrawl method isn't most effective but im probably no where near ov time and no condoms in the house). anyone else on hear have expierence of ttc after a miscarriage?

pizzaqueen Mon 15-Jul-13 08:24:52

here*

Rockchick1984 Mon 15-Jul-13 08:45:28

Pizza we started TTC again as soon as I'd stopped bleeding, everything I'd read said dating purposes was the only reason to wait and I decided if I'd fallen pregnant that first month then I would just have an early dating scan! I don't think I ovulated that month anyway - had ERPC in early April, ERTD arrived in May, BFP in June so not long at all for me. I honestly believe that your body won't fall pregnant until its ready after a miscarriage - if it had been ready straight away then I'm not delaying it just to save the NHS the cost of a scan!

cookielove Mon 15-Jul-13 08:54:44

Morning all smile

Urgh dh who seems to be susceptible to everything, has got a sore throat so no dtd sad and he's off work!! Granted he's not sleeping, but still he reminds me of a baby <glares at dh>

Love the bunting!!

Auntie i know several people with pcos, all the ones that ttc have been successful smile

Minion Mon 15-Jul-13 09:14:53

andie congratulations, brilliant news! Hey now we average 1 a month. I personally think all this hot weather is boiling the baby batter.. Ewww sorry...

Not in scotland no, in Manchester so am starting the opening gambit at 190 today.. Eeek. But am prepared to go to 205 should they play hardball.
Went to idea to scout out new furnishings and fell in love with a kitchen there so that's sorted, we also are putting in a walk in shower and a bay window seat so that's done, now we actually need the house to put the crap into I guess.
Fingers criss crossed.

I agree with it being too damn hot to JS so I've been a bad minion and only done it 3 times this weekend, twice on the same night, I was very impressed with the stamina I can tell thee.
So I assume I'm out already this month. Balls.
I'll just have to buy a house instead x

DulcetMoans Mon 15-Jul-13 09:27:36

Hiding in the loos again but only cos its cooler in here, I can't be bothered to work and I wanted to catch up on the goss here!

My EOD shaggathon stalled a little as we missed Saturday but dud it yesterday instead and I'm on a promise tonight too. I know that's not really how it works but whilst he's keen I won't discourage him! Don't think Ive ov'd yet anyway, no sign of that.

Good luck with the house minion. Talking money is never fun but finding a new home is!

He can JS with a sore throat lil, don't take that excuse from him! Lol.

Think I will upgrade my cape too, accounting for the weather. Maybe something lemon yellow...

DulcetMoans Mon 15-Jul-13 09:28:11

Not lil, cookie. Soz both!

EssieSaysRelax Mon 15-Jul-13 09:29:27

Morning all.

Hi Auntie, welcome, yes my SIL has PCOS and has 1DC and another one in the oven and my best friend has 2DC and she's got it too. Fx for you.

So I'm about cd20 I think, (need to check app but phone slightly lost, think its in car but need to go and rummage), but I think I only oved Fri, which was a bit late. But in the TWOT now. I'm away next weekend for a long weekend so that'll take my mind off it adds pee sticks to packing list.

Can't beleive this amazing weather is going to last all week! Wow!

EssieSaysRelax Mon 15-Jul-13 09:37:59

ooh yay minion, good luck with the house. Mega stress and a bit of a bun fight to actually buy it, but totally worth it. We've been in ours 3 months now and it's so awesome. Fx for you.

Zing love the bunting btw! Very creative!

Dulcet, you must have nicer loos then we have. Ours are unisex. Bleurgh.

Andie congrats! Fab news! This is a lucky JSing Fred. I feel it in me bones.

AQuarkTooFar Mon 15-Jul-13 11:08:33

Thank for your messages everyone. I am feeling quite positive actually. Once ERTD has left we are going to really go for it this month going to try and do the SMEP

We really want to get pg this month or next as DH's sister and one of our good friends have both announced they are getting married next July. I do not want to be heavily pregnant at the weddings and DH would love to have a baby before his Dsis's wedding. He wants to be able to have a child there with us. I know that sounds weird but I get it

It would also be a fab time to conceive as DMIL will be so wrapped up with everything wedding she will not give two hoots about me!

Loving the bunting zing! Welcome to the thread Maggie*

Who is next to POAS?

EssieSaysRelax Mon 15-Jul-13 11:56:37

Know what you mean about timings working with family stuff Quark. My inlaws are all a bit intense and with SIL upduff at mo, it would be ideal if I could get upduff soon so she'd have hers shortly before me then and they'd be more likely to leave me alone cos she is their 'fave' less rebellious DIL!

Good luck smepping! x

Nessalina Mon 15-Jul-13 12:51:01

Hello hello smile
I'm in total advance planning mode at the minute and trying to rein it in confused Not for inlaw purposes, but my DH is giving up his job after the next year (he's a teacher) and retraining, so getting upduffed this cycle or the next two would be perfect so he can take paternity leave and then finish for summer and have us both off!
He's going to do a year's post-grad, so we'd have a whole year off together which would be potentially heavenly unless we kill each other within the first week!! Only obvious issue is the fact that we'll be surviving on my mat pay... We've got a bit saved though, so reckon we can cope. Just. Time to tighten the belts!
I know I say this most months, but I am feeling very potentially preggers, my babs are really sore (never usually are), I'm very tired, and I've randomly gone off diet coke which I normally guzzle. So there's some random symptoms for you!
I'm due on Saturday, and whilst I'd love to hold out, I have a bag of cheapies and no patience, so going to pee tomorrow and keep fx. hmm

babylann Mon 15-Jul-13 13:39:16

Hi all smile just been catching up with the last few pages and seen a lot of pcos mentions. Another sufferer here, but I have also conceived naturally twice, so hopefully that's good to know. JSing is definitely the right method for us as ovulation is so unpredictable that its better to shag every day and hope for the best than temp or poas every day in the hope that one day a line might show.

I get ovulation pain a lot but have been told its quite possibly just related pain to the cysts and I haven't tested it out on ov sticks yet.

I've heard you can also boost your fertility with pcos just by losing 5-10%of your current body weight. That's what I did last time I ttc and actually my periods regulated almost immediately once I got to the goal weight and I conceived about 2 months later. So I'm eating healthily again now ready for round 3 smile

(Ttc 2 resulted in mmc in case anyone is still around that remembers me)

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 14:09:40

nessa

it's obviously your decision, but I think you should wait till Saturday (sorry!smile )
it is so likely to be bfn at this stage, unless you ovulated very early this cycle - I just want to spare you the unnecessary disappointment!
especially that you have symptoms that could easily be early signs of baby!

with DS2 I was 3 weeks overdue when I gotvmy 1st bfp- due to ovulating very late I happened to get pg the day before I expected AF!

so try and wait a few more days lovely, what do you think?

although if you go with tomorrow do say what time so I can have fx for youwink ( and pompoms/tissues at the ready)

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 14:43:41

people, do you reckon morning JSing makes any difference to evening? ie on the last chance days on/after Ovving?
because theoretically morning could be v early, ie 12+hours before the evening..? Yet it all ''counts'' as the same day., so round ovving be better to do it in the mornings?

Am cogitating on this all sooo much.

yes, loved the bunting grin
Good signs, Nessa fingers firmly corssed for you. If you have sticks to spare I'm all in favour of having a ''practise pee''

I dreamed last night I was eating a rotten prawn sandwich: now is that a sign...??? or just a sign it's too ruddy hot

Bearfacedchic Mon 15-Jul-13 16:07:07

Congratulations Andie! grin grin grin I'm sooo chuffed for you.

We were away for the weekend doing fun stuff, so I've only just caught up with the fred. Unfortunately had to listen to my friend telling me how quickly she got preggers despite abusing her body - being overweight, smoking and drinking and having done recreational drugs in the past hmm I had a nice time, but all everyone wanted to talk about was their babies. Yawned and cried in secret 'cos I don't have one

Got my fingers crossed for those POASing and wanting their BFP really soon although I know we all do DO IT PEOPLE! Pee! Pee!

Hello to Auntie! What does your cape look like? (Have you even got one yet?) I also wondered how you know that you have PCOS without being tested?

Babylann - I'm trying to do that as I suspect I have PCOS, but don't seem to be able to lose any weight, despite eating healthily and exercising like a maniac. hmm Thanks for the advice though.

Zing - beautiful bunting! Must have taken you ages grin Well done on becoming Official Mascot #2 of the Just Shagging Fred. A highly coveted title. Uni is the unicorn we found adopted and made into our mascot. I can't remember who found it - maybe Hooya or GaryBuseysTeeth quite a few Freds ago now. We stroke him when in need of comfort and pass him round as needs be like the class pet.

ERTD still in da house here. Grrrrr. Still a long way to go yet though.

Hello everyone else! smile

Bearfacedchic Mon 15-Jul-13 16:10:35

Choc - my understanding is that when you get a positive OPK the signs of ov, then you are between 12 and 36 hours away from oving. Sperm can live for up to 5 days in EWCM so as long as you DTD just before and around the time of ov then you should be fine whether morning or evening. You could do it twice in a day to be sure grin, but the second go will probably have reduced quality of sperm, (as it takes time to build up to good levels), which is why the Sexperts say to do it EOD so that you get good quality man juice.

DownstairsMixUp Mon 15-Jul-13 16:12:25

Hello all, can i join in?

Me and my OH have agreed to start trying but no opks etc etc, just if it happens, it happens so looks like i am joining you!

I already have one lo who is 4 in september from my previous relationship, me and the OH have been together since april 2010 so the time feels right for us now to have a littleun of our own also smile

Bearfacedchic Mon 15-Jul-13 16:21:42

Hi Downstairs! Welcome.

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 16:40:47

bear

I'm going to google about the sperm build up - that is brand new info to me!

I was under the impression that it really doesn't matter about saving up or going on a snagging spree as sperm is being produced "on demand" so to speak!
Therefore the more you DTD the more likely to get BFP!

Am I wrong?shock I could be!
bear with....wink

As #2 mascot I feel it is my responsibility to research this.

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 16:42:54

*shagging spree

not snagging....
twatphone

Bearfacedchic Mon 15-Jul-13 16:51:30

Ouchy - 'snagging spree'! shock

roodles84 Mon 15-Jul-13 16:56:38

Yay congrats Andie! Well done for waiting for 4 days late!

ERTD turned up Friday night for me so I had a vino or two on Saturday to cheer myself up. [Wine]

This was our first try and we didn't start until a bit late, so I've now got a few days to make a cape and then get busy! DH didn't seem too upset at the prospect of more sex...

Bearfacedchic Mon 15-Jul-13 17:03:16

Well, Zing, there's this but also, there's this

Hope this works!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 17:49:44

thanks Bear very interesting!

so there's the low sperm count issue - wait for 36 hours before next DTD for a good build up - that I didn't know about!

but the first article pointed out about the issue of sperm quality, which is what I knew about and was unwittingly referring to!

I just love it that we are both right!grin

DownstairsMixUp Mon 15-Jul-13 17:58:42

Hi bear smile

Thanks for the two links above as well, quite interesting reading! Anyone else feeling this sticky weather is just not putting you "in the mood" though? It's so hot and humid I just feel so urrghh and tired!

Writerwannabe83 Mon 15-Jul-13 18:07:19

DTd is the last thing on my mind in this weather!!!

However, AF is due in a week and I'm counting down the days to see if it arrives!!!

Hopefully not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 18:26:17

who's gonna feed their man frolic acid??
btw I call it 'sweet FA'

ie. sweet folic acid.

grin
trying to get dh to eat broccoli is damn hard. may sneak pills into his pie..

Nessalina Mon 15-Jul-13 18:33:44

Hehe Zing thanks for being the voice of reason! smile
You're right of course, I'm fully aware that it will probably be a BFN either way tomorrow, it's just so damned tempting! (Lol at 'practise pee' Choc!!)
As the new official 2nd mascot & good luck charm, I shall attempt will power and heed your advice... at least til Friday, I can pee Friday right?!?! grin

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 18:43:58

Nessa

about Friday...hmmm....I haven't decided yet if I shall be strict matronly mascot or a softie-softie one.grin

I'll go for: wait till Saturday morning!
patience is a virtue I do not possess and you'd better start practicing! wink

but if you feel pg symptoms are getting stronger I will allow Friday morning. grin

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 18:46:48

we will probably respect a matronly mascot, and walk all over a softie zing grin grin grin

PrincessKitKat Mon 15-Jul-13 18:54:10

Should men have frolic Choc?!
I just put DHs zinc on the table with his dinner. He then has the choice of actively rebelling or just swallowing the stuff - he takes option 2 for an easy life smile

DownstairsMixUp Mon 15-Jul-13 19:03:53

I prob couldn't get mine to take folic acid, he is very laid back and carefree about this whole thing! I'm determined to dtd tonight but it is literally still 25c here at 7pm and very sticky in our house! Plus i've been running around after a 3 year old all day urgh!

DulcetMoans Mon 15-Jul-13 19:30:59

The weather does not help at all. All I've heard since he came in us how hot and sticky he is and which bits of his body are sticking to which other bits of his body! It's not helping me feel in the mood!

I didn't know about the blokes having FA either. Is that a thing? Not that he would ever do it!

cookielove Mon 15-Jul-13 19:33:58

Dh is still ill <wails>

Although he does say we can still do it so silver lining and all that smile

Me and dh dtd on the day we got a positive opk and the next but haven't done it since <stamps feet in frustration > although feeling positive about it this month!!

Good to see more neeeeeewbbies!!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 19:42:56

choc

I think I go for matronly (but kind!) as you have the Unicorn already to be the softie! grin

AuntieMaggie Mon 15-Jul-13 19:48:00

Thank you for the encouragement ladies smile

I know what you mean by the timing of getting/being pregnant. We've been asked to go on holiday with a group of friends in May and having no idea if I will be pregnant, have a baby or still be trying I don't know whether to put the deposit down or not!

babylann I had really bad ovulation pain with my PCOS because of the cysts but I didn't have them on the pill. I have lost some weight but have also been told that losing weight increases your chances so will be looking to lose weight at the same time as ttc.

Bearfacedchic I meant I haven't been tested to see if I actually ovulate - I've had tests and scans to diagnose the PCOS (and actually because of certain 'markers' my gynae says he could've diagnosed me by looking at me!)

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:01:57

zing! I need a biscuit intervention! help!

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:03:47

one of those links bear put on, the 2nd I think, suggested a bit of frolic acid could help spunk quality;

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 20:11:55

choc

how may I be at your service in these hard times of biscuit related panic?grin

DownstairsMixUp Mon 15-Jul-13 20:17:17

Urgh glad someone mentioned about the timing! We've been asked about a holiday to next year (an alcohol related one!!) and i don't want to say yes as i don't know whether i'll be pregnant and be the boring one sitting there sipping orange while everyone else gets pissed. It is a bit awkward!!

Anyone else in the same boat as me though and have NO idea what part of their cycle they are on?!

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:23:18

zing it's a pack of dark choc digestives FFS theyre all a bit melty from the heat and Ive had approx. 10 already...

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:27:15

hmm. holiday thing is a conundrum. Ive extricated myself from a tenuous family obligation by murmuring about some friends we possibly are going away with for a change...
you could...
a) book it, potentially lose deposit, though good friends would understand & be pleased for you
b) tell friends you're trying so don't want to promise into the future
c) don't answer directly and shuffle around to avoid committing for a couple more months and re-assess situation then
d) hint darkly of 'serious money isshoos' and sniff theatrically, they should back off
e) avoid them and change your mobile number
f) book it, and go, pg or bf'ing or whatever

DulcetMoans Mon 15-Jul-13 20:29:53

I had a fudge disaster as well choc. DP got some at a craft market yesterday and left them in my bag. Now mostly one piece of fudge.

Isn't it weird how different doctors/regions say different things. Mine said to me about PCOS when I was there about my weight but said she wouldn't test until I had been TTC for a year. Wasn't even trying then. But I know people that have been diagnosed without even TTC so doesn't seem fair!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 20:32:17

choc

2 options really - stick 'em in your gob or in the fridge!

ZingWidge Mon 15-Jul-13 20:33:10

scrap that, only 1 option, you must teleport them to me!wink

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:33:20

<sighs> gob it is. Thanks Zing, I was confused

NO! ZING! I need you to talk me away from the buggers grin

ChocChaffinch Mon 15-Jul-13 20:34:20

I think a lot of GP type doctors talk a lot of shite about gynaecology in general.

Nessalina Mon 15-Jul-13 20:35:36

Excellent options Choc :-D
Tricky to plan your life around a maybe but I guess that's what we've gotta do. We normally have a couple of hols booked in advance (just like cottage with friends, or a week in Europe) and I SO badly wanna book something for next summer, but best not eh?
I even didn't pay for a mini bus back from a wedding last weekend coz we had to book 3 months before and I figured I'd be upduffed so I'd be driving. How naive to think it'd be that speedy hmm Cue a desperate-to-be-drunk Ness trying to persuade DH that he wanted to drive the 45mins back from the wedding when I'd already promised to drive! No such luck confused

Nessalina Mon 15-Jul-13 20:36:36

I think the power's gone to Zing's head grin

Ahh yes the holiday booking conundrum! I'm having the same issue...want to book abroad holiday for April/may next year but what if I'm upduffed!? I don't want to be away if I'm early pg in case anything goes wrong again and equally not wanting to be heavily pg and hot and bothered running after a three year old and grumpy hot DP. But if we don't book I'll be gutted to miss out on foreign holiday if I don't get pg. if we leave it we will miss free child places and it'll be too late to book annual leave confused

I have the reverse problem with holidays.

I am flying out for my brother's wedding in June. So need to get pregnant this month or next or I'm stopping till after the wedding!

Dulcetmoans I guess it depends what your symptoms are or why you think you have PCOS. In my case both my sisters and my mum had it, I had for years had horrendous periods but when initially tested was told I didn't have it. Then I came off the pill for a major op after which I suffered with bad ovulation pains to the point I could barely walk so they did a scan and discovered lots of cysts including one which was 5cm (2cm bigger than my ovary).

Difficulty conceiving is only one symptom but not every woman with PCOS finds it difficult contrary to what most doctors believe.
