Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

Dowk31 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:06:35

Hi Bluefreckles! I wld like to join please smile I am 28, fiancé 26 we are ttc baby no.1 too. I just had my first 2ww but AF showed up today so a bit disappointed but hey ho it's only our first month trying! How long have you been ttc? Are you using opks?

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:09:49

Hey Dowk!
Same as you. I'm now on cycle 2, just finished AF which turned up 2 weeks late!
Now have no idea how long my cycle should be as since coming off the pill (Yasmin) at beginning Oct I've had a 28 day cycle followed by the one just gone which was 42 days!

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:12:15

Oh and no, not using anything yet. Contemplating using ovulation sticks but due to odd cycle lengths not really sure if I'll know when to check!
Bit gross - but might just check cm and go with that.

Dowk31 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:15:33

Oh no, so I take it you were testing when AF was late? I got my implant removed in nov after having it for a year - no period throughout so this is my first! I'm glad in a way so I can now start tracking but I am using the clear blue ovualation kit to test for LH surge and its fab! Otherwise I wouldn't know when I was as no symptoms. Do you know when your ovulating?

Dowk31 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:17:13

I would have never known to check CM if I hadn't joined here, it's great info when you are a first timer like us! smile

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:27:10

I might have a look at the clear blue kit then as like you, I have minimal symptoms.
I've learnt so much from being on here. I was so ignorant before, just assumed the minute I came off the pill i would get pregnant!

Yes, when I was late for my AF I really thought I was upduffed on first cycle. Tested 5 times over the two weeks and all were BFN. It was driving me mad!

Nesswalk Thu 17-Jan-13 19:29:11

Can I join you?
I'm 31, TTC our 1st. On first 2ww just now.......and it's dragging. I had implanon removed end of December so not a hundred percent sure of cycles yet, but cm indicated ovulation last weekend. Fingers crossed we get lucky first cycle.

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:29:44

Is the clear blue kit something you can use time and time again or do you have to buy lots?

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:33:55

Hey nessy, absolutely!

How are you feeling on your 2ww? Any symptoms yet.

Will be getting everything crossed for you smile

Dowk31 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:40:18

The kit either comes with 7 tests or 20 and once your done you have to buy a completely new one which is a farce! I thought you'd be able to buy refill test but nope! It's roughly £27-£30 so pretty expensive but well worth it if your cycles are a bit messed up. If you are checking cm tho you may get away with only testing maybe 4-5 days so can last you a good few months. I think tho it's best to dtd before you ovulate which is what I didn't do

Nesswalk Thu 17-Jan-13 19:41:22

Not really, sore nipples, but nothing concrete, to be honest we're not really expecting anything this month......but can't stop thinking "maybe".
We had originally decided to TTC feb but when realised ovulation was perhaps happening thought what the hell.
We're both so excited, we've had quite a rough year with illness that if we get our BFP would make it all worth while.

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:45:11

Dowk - I may get one of those next month if this month is unsuccessful.

Nessy - It's so exciting isn't it. I really believe in the power of positive thought so I'll be sending lots of good thoughts and baby dust your way. Keep us in the loop as you go through the two weeks - how exciting! smile

Nesswalk Thu 17-Jan-13 19:48:23

Thank you Blue,
Hubby I think is getting fed up with me already, he's so laid back he's horizontal, so will prob bore everyone.

Frizz1986 Thu 17-Jan-13 19:49:00

Hi everyone,

I am getting v excited about ttc.
Not quite there yet as only came off my pill in Dec and get married in 11 weeks so trying to hold off starting ttc until march so my wedding day isnt full of me feeling ill if I were to conceive first time.
I am 26 (almost 27) and my dp is 27.
This will be our first and I just cant wait especially as one of my friends is due to give birth in 3 days so the broody meter is currently so high its on meltdown!!

I have the cheap ov tests off amazon and they picked up ov this month but I dont plan on really tracking until first real af is over.
I also have a stash of cheap pg tests in the drawer too and am taking conception vits as I think it cant hurt.

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 19:53:39

Nessy horizontal is good isn't it?! wink

Frizz - hello and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I turn 30 in two months and we're going on holiday to lay on a beach in the sun for a week. So part of me is thinking it won't be so bad if I don't get pg in next two months but equally will be over the moon if we do. If we conceived on holiday our child could have a very exotic name!! wink

LHMS Thu 17-Jan-13 19:56:16

Hello ladies, could I join you please?
We are trying for baby no 1. I am 30 and my husband is 27. We have been trying since June 2012 and it's becoming very frustrating and emotional for both of us.
I was on the pill for a lot of years (12) and have been using the clear blue ovulation sticks for the past 3 momths which helped my friend get pregnant recently.
I got very excited and hopeful this month as my boobs got quite big and tender but did a test today and it was negative sad
It would be nice to hear from others who are in the same boat as a lot of my friends are falling pregnant very easily making it a bit weird for me to talk to them about this kind of stuff x

setayharas Thu 17-Jan-13 19:58:03

Hey I'll join, think I no some of you from other threads.

I'm 25 dp is 26 we are on cycle 3 ttc our first. I'm the 2ww after ovulation 4 days late which I noticed using opks for the first month. They aren't helping my mentalness about the matter! Also trying pressed as heard a lot of good stuff about it
Not got a lot of Pma this month as dp working till 12.30 evwrynight and after 4days in a row of dtd he's given up lol poor sod!

Just bought a clear blue monitor hoping that might make the extra difference

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 20:55:45

LMHS and setay - hello!

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 21:16:46

Everyone - does anyone else have really short AF's?
When I was on the pill my AF's were regular as clockwork and lasted 4, maybe 5 days max. Since I have been off the pill my AF's have been 2 or 3 days max.
Any idea what this means?

bluefreckles Thu 17-Jan-13 21:21:08

Oh and I had a 28 day cycle followed by a 42 just gone!

roofio87 Thu 17-Jan-13 22:41:15

I'll join too!! me and my bf are ttc our first too.both 25 and only in first month of trying. I feel like cos we're not using any contraception and have been doing it loads that I must be pregnant.Haha,I do know its not that easy though!! such an exciting time though. fingers crossed people start getting BFPs soon!!xx smile

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 07:30:52

Welcome roofio!

I was same as you last month. Convinced I would be pg and then when AF was two weeks late I really believed it.
Turns out AF was just teasing me!

purplefairies Fri 18-Jan-13 09:25:31

Hello bluefreckles nice to see you on another thread.

I'm 32 and DH is 41, TTC first child since June 2012 after 9 years of pill use. To be honest I was never too optimistic about conceiving quickly as there are lots of fertility issues in my family - took my mum 4 years to have me and my aunt needed IVF to have my niece, but I have spent SO long on the fence about whether to have children or not and I don't think it would be the end of the world if I didn't - really love my life as it is (although I keep trying to put that to the back of my mind and reminding myself that life with a DC would be different, but not necessarily worse, otherwise I wouldn't TTC at all). Having said that it would sometimes be nice to know either way - I hate the uncertainty every month and the fact that DTD has become a bit of a chore...

bluefreckles, my AF is also shorter and quite light now. I asked my doctor and apparently that's fine - pill periods aren't "real" periods so they don't indicate what's normal for you.

kd83 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:23:43

Hi Ladies, I'd like to join this thread.

I'm 29, DH is 30, we are ttc first baby.

last month wast first month ttc and got AF at start of Jan sad , so now on second round. AF is due around 2 Feb, so am entering the 2ww now. been a bit slack with DTD this week so am now panicking I missed my window this month (hopefully i still have a few days to try and catch it). never in my life have I been so obsessive about my monthly cycle.

Only came off pill in Oct after 9 years so trying not to get my hopes up too soon, but now we've made the decision to ttc really just want it to happen.

glad to hear others are in the same crazy boat as me!

purplefaries, I feel much the same as you. the uncertainty is so hard to handle, and i love my life right now, but at the same time really want a baby now and am worried about how long it might take.

good luck everyone, its great to be able to share feelings and worries here with you all.

kd83 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:56:33

reading the full thread i might have to try clear blue ov sticks next month too if it doesn't happen this month. been trying to read cm, thats why i panicked yesterday cos we had gone 4 days without dtd and i think i was ovulating yesterday,

if cm has changed does that mean you've missed it? should you have been doing it loads before ovulation or during? mumsnet ovulation calendar says i should be ovulating this week or next, but not sure if my cycle is 28 or 35 days.

DailySliceOfGato Fri 18-Jan-13 11:42:31

Can I please join in? TTC #1 and using a CB fertility monitor. It's not particularly sexy, but then neither is having a face-off with the contents of one's knickers on a daily basis!

kd83, I think you're supposed to do it at least every other day before ovulation, every day during ovulation, and then the day or two after ovulation as the egg can sometimes survive for a couple of days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

setayharas Fri 18-Jan-13 11:50:26

I agree with daily! Defiantly get in there before ovulation so you have the lil swimmers waiting! As apparently they can live a few days.

As far as I can work out and I haven't been monitoring mine so dot quote me. If should go from thick and sticky to watery but stretchy right before and during ovulation then back to thick and sticky after then nothing.

As I say that's roughly I think everyone's cm is slightly different

secretlytrying Fri 18-Jan-13 11:50:36

Hi ladies,

I'd like to join this thread. I'm 32 and DH is 33, we're ttc#1, I came off the pill at new year, and we're getting married at Easter, but I'm secretly hoping to get a BFP very quickly. howver having been on the pill for so many years, I gather it could take a while

I'm new to this site and these boards, so still getting my head around the abbreviations - I gather AF refers to your period? but what does it mean!?

kd83 Fri 18-Jan-13 12:59:10

thanks girls!
hmm.. it only changed yesterday so hopefully if we do it every day for the next week (think of the calories that will burn) just maybe it might happen. I'm not holding my breath though!

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 14:51:31

kd83, daily, purple and secret - welcome! smile

Lozcat86 Fri 18-Jan-13 16:03:44

Hi everyone, ill join the club!
Ive been ttc for about 15 months, im 26, hubby is 37 and he has 2 kids from previous marriage. Just went to the GP today and she said not to stress etc, which is hard when i know that if there are any problems ill be very unlikely to get fertility help due to the fact that my husband already has children who i love to bits. added to that im a nurse in a childrens hospice so surrounded by kids all day...broody is not the word!
looks like i might be in for the long haul! x

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 16:50:57

lozcat hey! smile

How often does everyone DTD? It's hard sometimes to get in the mood, especially after a long day at work.

Does anyone have any tips on 'feeling the love'?!!

Ariel21 Fri 18-Jan-13 19:21:01

Hi everyone! Thought I might join in as about to start TTC our first baby, post-mirena coil removal. Am desperate to start just waiting for AF to finish! I've not had one for 2 years (normal on the mirena) so it's a bit of a novelty! Bet I won't be saying that next month...

bluefreckles Fri 18-Jan-13 19:50:02

Welcome Ariel!

ElfSweetPea Fri 18-Jan-13 23:45:56

Hi all! Please can I join this thread? I'm also new to Mumsnet! Great hub for everything you need.

Bit about me - I'm 30, dp 31 and we are ttc for first child and very very excited. Like kd83 we really just want it to happen.

Came off Yasmin at Xmas, had be on it for 13yrs. First AF since coming off the pill has arrived today, so it's not meant to be just yet.

How has everyone found coming off the pill?

bluefreckles Sat 19-Jan-13 11:28:01

Is anyone on the 2ww? How are you feeling? smile

Nesswalk Sat 19-Jan-13 11:55:20

It's still dragging blue. Sometimes I wonder if I'm imagining symptoms. hmm

roofio87 Sat 19-Jan-13 12:39:55

yes blue I am!! and yeah time is defo dragging. I'm avoiding going out tonight (mostly to do with the snow) but also cos I don't want to drink. keep thinking it would be fine cos I'm probs not but panicing in case I am!! ha,I'm driving myself mad and this is only the first month!!x

Lozcat86 Sat 19-Jan-13 12:49:37

can anyone do a quick low down on the abbreviations used... blush

roofio87 Sat 19-Jan-13 12:52:15

lozcat I usually look here.....

hope u can see that!!x

ILoveMyCats Sat 19-Jan-13 13:27:37

Hello ladies! I too am in the early stages of ttc for the first time. Just to mention that I have managed to buy clearblue digital ovulation sticks from Amazon without having to buy the whole kit again. Hope that helps.

setayharas Sat 19-Jan-13 13:39:01

im in the 2ww 5dpo at the moment and nothing to report here. just willing the next 9 days away.

i have got quite creamy cm which i havent notcied before but google tells me thats just the progesterone building up.

firsttimekat Sat 19-Jan-13 16:15:32

I'd like to join too. also ttc no. 1, been trying since July. I'm 27, DH 28.

My cycles are all over the place so finding it difficult to predict when things are going to happen. DTD every other day or trying to but does lose the magic sometimes when you aren't in the mood.

roofio87 I've also cancelled plans tonight and blamed the snow, but also about not drinking and feeling a bit weird today. Haven't told friends we're ttc so thought I'd blame the snow!

kd83 Sat 19-Jan-13 19:25:16

bluefreckles I'm in the 2ww too. Imagining every tiny twinge is implantation cramps. Really not trying to get excited as I don't think we DTD enough this month and prob missed my ovulation. Still keeping my fingers crossed cos you never know, it only takes one lol!

Fingers crosse for everyone.

younggrizzly Sat 19-Jan-13 19:49:28

Hi ladies, please can I join too?

I'm new to mumsnet. Been TTC our first since early May 2012 over 10 cycles so far with no luck. AF due on Wednesday but think I ovulated early this month so who knows!

Just had CD21 progesterone test and got to have LH and FSH done on CD4 as well as thyroid as have suspected pcos due to short luteal phase, bad skin, weight gain - so all in all its getting me down!

Been temping and using OPKs for 4 months which is how I found out LP is short.

And that's me! Hoping reading everyone's stories will get me excited about TTC again.

Poppy79 Sat 19-Jan-13 21:14:34

Hi all, I'd like to join to join this thread too please. I came off the pill mid-december and we started ttc straight away. Had some strong symptoms; cramps, constant hunger pangs, headaches, dizzy spells but bnf when we tested and Af turned up last week. Tried not to get too excited but we were disappointed, silly we know but fingers crossed for next couple of weeks. Good luck all x

MarshallJ81 Sun 20-Jan-13 10:42:53

Hi Ladies, can I join in? TTC #1 and very excited! Came off the patch in September and had an early MC in November. Now using OPK (I find superdrugs own brand to be the best!) but its tricky as my cycles are all different lengths, argh! Now on a 2WW fingers crossed and good luck everyone else! X

Frizz1986 Sun 20-Jan-13 15:29:43

Hey blue
My first af since coming off the pill in december seems to be lasting forever.
It caught me very offguard a week ago and hasnt completely gone yet. I fear the spotting could continue for a while.
I am hoping to get my cycles in some form of routine before we actually start ttc tho so i have time to get settled.
I went to my gp before coming off the pill to see what the best things to do before ttc were.
My gp advised to dtd every 2-3 days all the time. The little swimmers can live for a few days so if you dtd every 2-3 days you wont miss ovulation and it takes the pressure off if u are just doing it lots instead of only certain times of the month.
I read somewhere that u shouldnt dtd every day for too long as it actually causes deterioration in the little swimmers as the man cant make them fast enough (dont know if thats true tho)
I am struggling waiting now though as feel as prepared as i can be. Am trying to get my dp to decide when he wants to start. We will def start ttc April at the latest but I am too excited!

sparkle9 Sun 20-Jan-13 15:47:31

I'm 29 and DP is 30. We are hopefully going to TTC our first child very soon. We had said this month but we just moved house and are a bit worried about money seeing as we now have no savings and some credit card spending. All should improve in the next few months and then I'll come off the pill, which I've been taking for about 10 years. I don't plan to use ovulation sticks or anything at first - just DTD and hope for the best. I might start worrying after a year with no BFP. I have bought a thermometer based on a recommendation on another thread - just in case I get the urge to track my basal temperature. I've been taking folic acid since mid-December in preparation.

Does anyone else worry about the financial implications of having a baby? I might be overly anxious about this! I'm the higher earner so being on maternity pay will be hard. Then I'd like to I part time so that's a salary cut plus childcare fees! Scary stuff.

Good luck everyone!

DailySliceOfGato Mon 21-Jan-13 17:32:30

Thank you for welcoming me blue, and for starting the thread! I have lurked for yonks on various bus-type threads, but not dared to join anything for fear of getting over-obsessive about TTC. This has now happened anyway, so I can't get any worse!

Hello to everyone who has joined! Poppy, I felt the same way when my AF came on first cycle. I knew it was ridiculous to be disappointed, but nonetheless...

WakeyCakey Mon 21-Jan-13 17:53:35

Hi can I join.
TTC my first (dp's second)
AF has just been for the second time this month! Came off the pill on NYE after 3 yearsl back to back so I have no idea about my cycles.
Not using anything to track my ovulation just seeing what happens for now, I am a serious impatient person so the 2ww's will be awful!

Liquoriceallsort Mon 21-Jan-13 18:43:30

Please can I join? Ttc for the first time from 1st Jan. I am 28 and dh is 30- I thought a 3 week holiday would be perfect but af has just reared her ugly head. I am not using any opks etc but * tmi alert * I do experience spotting every month about 3 days before af appears so I would be interested to hear any similar experiences. I didn't ever think it was an issue but having looked on here a lot of mners worry it means you cannot conceive?

bluefreckles Tue 22-Jan-13 08:16:04

Wow, lots of new members!
Welcome to liquorice, wakey, sparkle, Marshall, Poppy79, grizzly, firsttime, lovemycats and Frizz
I hope I got everyone and didn't welcome anyone who had already been welcomed.
Right, we need updates. Where is everyone in their cycle. How has it been going this month?
2ww'ers - any news?

Update from me - I'm on CD11 of an unknown cycle length! I'm not using ovulation sticks or anything so pretty casual with the TTC. Through one thing or another we have actually only managed to DTD once in the last 11 days sad. Going to up my game now and aiming for every 3 days. Also keeping an eye on cm - nothing to note at the moment.

Does anyone else have spells of struggling to DTD?

purplefairies Tue 22-Jan-13 09:24:34

I'm on CD7 of an equally unknown cycle length. To be honest I'm hoping it's a long cycle again as DH is away from Friday until a week on Saturday with work, so I'm praying I don't OV then as it would be a total waste of an egg. On the other hand, even my "normal" cycles are longer (35 days), so I'm hoping we'll still be in with a chance afterwards.

I think it is hard to "fit in" all of the DTD that is required to give yourself a good chance, to be honest. We both work really long hours and during the week my bed is definitely mainly for sleeping.

I think nature probably intended us to have babies as soon as we met a partner and were still in the "this is all new and exciting" stage smile

SeriousStuff Tue 22-Jan-13 11:17:21

I think I may finally have given up this month...we managed to DTD every other day from CD8 - CD23. I hope this was enough! But worried about putting too much pressure on my DH so may leave DTD for a few days now.

AF is due on 28th, only 6 (long) days to go. I wish I could hibernate before it's time to test (or face AF).

kd83 Tue 22-Jan-13 13:57:13

bluefreckles i also struggle getting enough DTD, and feel in a similar position to you. DH works long hours in the week and doesn't always feel much like DTD when he gets home.

Am in 2ww now, due AF around Feb 2, but tbh think we missed the slot this time as only dtd 3 times in last 10 days sad

bluefreckles Tue 22-Jan-13 16:19:46

I seem to have quite a few sore spots. Mainly around my mouth, along my jawline and a couple on my cheeks angry
I normally get one, maybe two, just before AF arrives but now I have about 6 and AF finished over a week ago! Grrr...

Anyone else?

Iheartcrunchiebars Tue 22-Jan-13 18:55:27

Hi ladies can I join? I'm 31 and am ttc baby number 1. Terrifying but very exciting. I am convinced I'm pregnant although most of my symptoms are more likely to be from my cough!

WakeyCakey Tue 22-Jan-13 20:03:03

Thanks for the welcome smile
At the moment DTD is a problem, DP finds my new found periods (none for 3 years due to B2B pill) very strange.
He isn't sure anymore whether to instigate DTD as he doesn't want me to refuse hmm
But we are getting there. Until I know my cycle he's definitely not going to have a clue!
Tempted to get some ovulation sticks so we can plan a bit better but don't want to make DTD a chore!!

firsttimekat Tue 22-Jan-13 20:53:41

2ww here and having lots of fun symptom spotting... feeling bloated, peeing all the time, and sore boobs, of course that could just be AF (AF due 25th to 30th). Had been on the pill for ages so still getting used to whats normal for me!

I feel like we DTD plenty so really hoping it works. Plus everyone at work seems to be pregnant and I can't wait for it to be my turn!

WakeyCakey Tue 22-Jan-13 20:57:00

Any tips on how to recognise ovulation without a tester?

younggrizzly Wed 23-Jan-13 22:08:17

Thanks for the welcome blue

liquorice I'm a spotter too since having my implant out last may and still no BFP so wondering if its a problem... Having lots of hormones tested in next couple of days so we'll see!

wakey this always seems tmi but I find lots of egg white consistency cervical mucus a good indicator of impending OV. For more info have a look at a charting website like fertility friend

As for me AF got me again today. Stupid witch. Hoping my tests will shed some light.

Who knows maybe this cycle will be the one!

roofio87 Thu 24-Jan-13 15:03:29

oh ladies,I just braved a trip into mothercare to find a present for my new nephew (my SIL is currently in labour!!) and I almost cried I got so broody looking at the clothes!! who knows what I'll be like when her baby actually arrives!!! grin

bluefreckles Thu 24-Jan-13 18:00:51

Oh roofio, sorry to hear that. It will be your time soon enough I'm sure. Getting support from other ladies in the same position helps me - hence loving MN'ters!

bluefreckles Thu 24-Jan-13 18:06:37

OK TMI alert!!

Just got in from work and had a pee. When I wiped I noticed lots of egg-white (like raw eggs) cm. Really gross but I did the stretch test and it stretched out a good 2 inches no problem.grin

What do I do now?? Obviously will jump the bones of my DP tonight but how often and how long do I now keep it up??

WakeyCakey Thu 24-Jan-13 18:20:48

I had heard but was too nervous to ask if that was it. Getting cramps today and a bit bloaty. Maybe coming up to ovulate in the next few days I feel?
Ordered some CB ovulation sticks from amazon so waiting not so patiently for them.
roofio I am awful everytime I look for presents for new babies, and it seems that every time I talk to someone they are pregnant or just had a baby!!

bluefreckles Thu 24-Jan-13 18:35:48

Ridiculously excited at appearance of EWCM. My DP has a fun few days coming up wink

Can't believe excitement now comes from the contents of my pants! grin Ha!

WakeyCakey Thu 24-Jan-13 18:47:00

bluefreckles I'm happy about the contents of your pants (couldn't resist blush)
Mrbluefreckles had got his work cut out for him now!! Wishing you the best of luck!!

bluefreckles Thu 24-Jan-13 18:58:04

wakey - how many days do I have to keep it up now??

WakeyCakey Thu 24-Jan-13 19:05:17

As long as you can my dear smile
I love this thread although I think it's making me more broody then ever.

bluefreckles Thu 24-Jan-13 19:06:34

As long as I can?! - oh dear...

DailySliceOfGato Fri 25-Jan-13 21:04:24

If it helps, once I have signs of ovulation I only DTD every day for the next 2-3 days. Otherwise my poor DH would simply collapse. (But this month am considering continuing to DTD every 2-3 days for the next week in case my fertility monitor is malfunctioning).

Anyway, I'm now entering the 2WW - cue dramatic music...

Sshsecretenclosed Sat 26-Jan-13 16:24:34

Hi everyone.

I'm 25 and me my bf are planning on TTC for first time! About to come off pill that I've been on for five years. Any tips for those first few months? Xxx

roofio87 Sun 27-Jan-13 06:51:34

I just got a BFP!! I can't believe it. so exciting but so scary!!
anyone else testing soon?!!x

bluefreckles Sun 27-Jan-13 07:00:17

Oh my god roofio, congratulations!!

What stage are you at in your cycle??

roofio87 Sun 27-Jan-13 07:08:00

I can't be too sure. my cycles are a little hard to predict. if its a normal 28 day-er then my periods not due till wed. but I think I ovulated 2 days earlier than expected this month (no charting or opks though its more just instinct) so would be tomorrow. had a + test now and got a faint + Fri so guessing it might be earlier!!x

WakeyCakey Sun 27-Jan-13 11:39:54

Congratulations roofio
Yay so happy to see a BFP on here smile

roofio87 Sun 27-Jan-13 12:10:22

thanks wakeycakey still doesn't quite feel real!! feeling sick today but I think its more excitement and nerves than morning sickness!! grin grin grin

kd83 Sun 27-Jan-13 17:04:06

roofio congratulations!! Did you have any early symptoms?

Still one week to go before AF is due. Trying not to climb the walls!!

roofio87 Sun 27-Jan-13 17:11:43

kd83 I kept putting things to the back of my mind but now I know I'm pg I definitely feel it. I am really tired all the time and been having headaches. peeing a lot,but I'm drinking a lot of water too. boobs got bigger. feeling a bit sick today but I think its mostly nerves and excitement!! the 2ww is a nightmare, just try to take ur mind of it!!xx

Liquoriceallsort Sun 27-Jan-13 17:24:13

Good luck with your test grizzly - let me know how you get on smile. I've been doing some research and apparently taking b vitamin tablets is good to control spotting. I have started taking it this month so I will let you know if it makes a difference. Mine has been ever since I came off the pill a year ago- it has never bothered me as it has always been closely followed by af the next day but now we are ttc perhaps I should get it checked out...

Congratulations roofio how lovely to see a BFP on this thread!!

firsttimekat Sun 27-Jan-13 19:05:53

Congratulations roofio so pleased for you.

AF due by Wednesday, but a bit irregular so tempted to test earlier as that is the longest likely. We'll see how long I last!

bluefreckles Mon 28-Jan-13 09:35:52

Hello everyone

I'm on CD17 of an unknown cycle length.

Had EWCM (i think!) on CD13 and DTD 3 times that week.

I have had a strange 'pinching' feeling in, what I assume is, my womb since yesterday midday.

Anyone had experience of this? Almost feels like early/mild AF cramps...

DailySliceOfGato Mon 28-Jan-13 14:07:56

AHH, congratulations roofio!

Sorry blue, haven't experienced this myself. They seem a bit early for implantation cramps (according to this website anyway

WakeyCakey Mon 28-Jan-13 18:24:19

Hey blue I'm unknown cycle too as came off my pill at new year and have so far had two bleeds.
I suffer from endometriosis so can't work out if any pains are for AF/endo/ovulation or just completely random.

Are your cycles just long or completely irregular?

bluefreckles Mon 28-Jan-13 19:04:15

wakey - well I've only had two proper cycles since coming off the pill. One at 28 days and one at 42...!
I think I am ovulating at the moment and I'm on CD17 so hoping they are getting back to normal... We'll see!

vicki2122 Mon 28-Jan-13 19:34:21

Hi can i join ttc our first baby im 27 dp 29 we have been ttc for 2 months now and no luck i try and hope i am pregnant but need some friends in same boat as me smile

firsttimekat Mon 28-Jan-13 20:01:48

Welcome vicki

blue I had the same sort of feeling, but can't help identify what it is sorry!

So after visiting my parents over the weekend and getting the 'when am I going to be a grandparent' speech I tested this morning which was naughty as its early and I got a BFN which was still disappointing. Got home from work and was sick which is odd, and one to add to my random list of odd things going on.

I will wait till Thursday to test again, not giving up hope until AF arrives.

Anyone else getting pressure to have a baby and got any tips for dealing with people?

vicki2122 Mon 28-Jan-13 20:14:10

Can i ask is everyone excited but scared about being pregnant?

Poppy79 Mon 28-Jan-13 21:44:22

Hi Kat, yes lots of pressure asking when there'll be a baby! family, friends even people you hardly know make comments. Anyone else feel like they're being watched like a hawk for anyway give away signs? Like not drinking or eating certain foods, one guy even told me his wife had said as soon as I give up playing hockey that'll be it they'll know I'm pregnant. The way we usually deal with them is try and laugh it off, "yes, one day maybe,... He's got the dog that's OH's baby ;) ....enjoying hockey too much at the mo.....we'd like another nice holiday or 2 before we think about ttc...." Keep smiling & hopefully they'll get the message or hopefully by then you'll have some happy news to tell them smile x

WakeyCakey Mon 28-Jan-13 21:48:49

The worst is at work. Because they know dp is older than me they know we are keen to have kids soon, but I can't control when that happens.
If I feel sick at work: I'm pregnant
Have a headache: pregnant
New uplifting bra meaning boobs looking a little bigger: twins!!!
It's getting silly.

One of my best friends at work is TTC and has been for 3 years with no luck and she's 28.
I feel so bad when people do it to her knowing full well she isn't pregnant!!

Sshsecretenclosed Mon 28-Jan-13 22:06:31

Hi vicki, I'm scared too. Scared that we won't be able to conceive but also scared if we do conceive we will have a real life baby! It's a crazy idea but something I'm so dead set on. It's nice to come somewhere vent all these feelings and everyone understands :-) xxx

vicki2122 Tue 29-Jan-13 04:25:01

I no im the same as you
Scared about conceiving and scared about not being able to and to be honest im worried i wont cope when my dp goes to work and im alone i need people i can talk to i dont have friends xxx

Sshsecretenclosed Tue 29-Jan-13 17:06:09

I just worry that I'm thinking it'll be all to easy to conceive. I need to realise that if don't conceive straight away it doesn't immediately mean that we won't xxx

bluefreckles Tue 29-Jan-13 17:50:07

I think it normally takes a few months. A lucky few conceive straight away. Not me - we're on cycle 2... smile

Kittykat1978 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:00:22

Hi all, great to read so many women in the same boat! It's our first month ttc, I'm using the cbfm and have used for 2 months now as wanted it to know me a bit better when we started trying. First month text book low, high then peak by cd14...This month lows until cd17 then highs ever since! Wtf?! My cycle is only 25/26 days and now on 22. Mmm. Perhaps I didn't o? However bd'd loads anyway now in tww. Symptom spotting is doing me no good at all!
Anyhow my fingers are crossed for us all! X

Kittykat1978 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:01:25

Hey blue freckles- what did you do to distract yourself in the tww?!

vicki2122 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:07:04

Yea can i ask is it possible to have symptoms with the first week of pregnancy?

WakeyCakey Tue 29-Jan-13 18:18:02

I worry too about not being able to.
I had an MC 5 years ago and haven't tried since.
I always thought it was one night without protection as that's what they said in school.
I never saw myself having an app on my phone to track my periods and checking my pants for EWCM blush

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:19:15

Hi ladies mind if I join? I'm 27 and dn is 44, having my coil out tomorro so we can start ttc baby 1 :-) xx

bluefreckles Tue 29-Jan-13 18:19:19

kitkat - I've only had one 2ww so far as on cycle 2 now. Last month I was convinced I was pg as I was exactly 2 weeks late sad
Turns out my body was tricking me and throwing in a random 42 day cycle angry
I tested 4 times over the 2 weeks I was late and all came back with negatives. With each one I got less and less excited and had decided by the 4th that I def wasn't pg anyway, just odd!

bluefreckles Tue 29-Jan-13 18:19:50

vicky - I would like to know this too!

bluefreckles Tue 29-Jan-13 18:21:21

pixie - welcome!

wakey - totally agree. Really thought it was just a case of stopping the pill and waiting.

vicki2122 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:25:51

Yea if anyone has an info on that let me no im going off some foods getting full quickly feeling a bit sick and getting cramping

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:27:19

Vicky and blue.. My friend knew she was pg after 2 days... Pg no 5 tho after 4 prev mc... So kind of knew what to look for.. What sort of symptoms? X

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:37:49

Just out of curiosity is anyone else giving up smoking to ttc?

bluefreckles Tue 29-Jan-13 18:39:09

No I'm afraid I've never smoked so can't help with that one.

We are trying to get fitter though

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:43:56

Yeah me too blue... My biggest problems are smoking and full fat coke confused smoked my last real cig at midday and do wants me to try and cut down on the coke ( in all fairness I do drink 6 cans a day)! Want to try and lose a little weight but dh doesn't agree.. I'm 5'5 and 10st x

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:44:28

WakeyCakey Tue 29-Jan-13 18:51:33

pixie I just made a shock face at your coke habit...until I realise it was like coca cola grin

I'm trying to quit smoking. Last time I quit as soon as I found out i was pg (mega surprise after condom and map) but started again after I MC'd.
DP isn't pressuring me to give up right now but I am cutting down loads.

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 18:56:55

Lol wakey... I prob should have made the coke comment more clear shock. Dh is pushing me to stop so I best had or he will withhold dtd lol. I've bought an electronic one and so far it's helping x

setayharas Tue 29-Jan-13 19:13:23

Hey everyone can I join, cycle4
Anyhow a day late now and getting bfn sad
I have given up smoking this is week 4 now but with every bfn I fancy one a bit more! as finding it hard not too give in when I think I'm not preg( that's the only reason I said I would ever quit lol) I enjoy em far too much to quit for my own health

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 19:23:50

Setay sorry on the bfn confused if it wasn't for wanting to get of there's no way would I be giving up so I can sympathise totally xx

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 19:24:19

Sodding autocorrect!! Pg* not of

WakeyCakey Tue 29-Jan-13 20:15:16

I don't think I have ovulated at all this month so far so just waiting for AF to arrive next to start again.
Was delightful at work when my phone went off with a pop up saying 'your period will start soon' always a good thing for your colleagues to see!!
Bloody iPhone app!

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 20:23:35

I'm not sure I have... Not that it makes a difference coil doesn't come out til tomorro and af due in just under 2 weeks. iPhones are evil!!!

vicki2122 Tue 29-Jan-13 20:37:33

Is anyone testing in 2 weeks?

Fizzylemonade Tue 29-Jan-13 20:49:19

Hello, I have no reason to join this thread as I already have my 2 children but I wanted to say good luck to everyone and can I just point out that the clear blue ovulation kit is very expensive.

I got an ovulation predictor kit online 8 years ago (I have endometriosis so my cycle was anything from 26 to 42 days) I just peed in a pot and dipped the predictor strip in. It told me whether I would ovulate within the next 24 hours.

I can't remember how much it was but a quick google has shown me that the ones out there are much cheaper than the clear blue ones.

Liquoriceallsort Tue 29-Jan-13 20:57:39

I am Vicki grin

WakeyCakey Tue 29-Jan-13 21:05:07

I haven't used the clear blue ones yet, got them off amazon, afraid of wasting them if I don't ovulate.
Until my afs get more regular I don't think I'll bother as font want to waste the money.
Didn't ever really think about them until I joined MN.

Pixie where did you get your electronic cig?

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 21:11:43

I'm debating whether or not to get a opk.. Will see what happens in the next couple of months.... Wakey I had it in sainsburys.. It's £4.99 and I the equivalent of 30 real cigs but you can get the re chargeable ones too so that's my next purchase tomorro x

WakeyCakey Tue 29-Jan-13 22:07:24

Just had a quick look online so I'll have a browse of the shops tomorrow. Might give me what I need to quit! smile

pixie0602 Tue 29-Jan-13 22:36:37

I'm loving mine.. So I'm hoping its gonna help... Keep me posted xx

vicki2122 Wed 30-Jan-13 06:38:03

WakeyCakey Wed 30-Jan-13 18:07:51

Not testing this month, no ov at all.
Putting it down to coming off the pill. Hope for better luck next month

pixie0602 Wed 30-Jan-13 19:36:18

Hey ladies.. Hope everyone's ok? Just had my coil removed so can actually start trying and not just practicing wink

Wakey ... Did you get an electronic cig? Mines been really good today.. Did have a sneaky real one on the way back from the clinic blush oh well tomorrow's another day smile x

vicki2122 Wed 30-Jan-13 19:44:04

I really wanna test today but its to early im to excited and wanna no? hmm

pixie0602 Wed 30-Jan-13 19:59:19

There's 3 vickys on this thread lol vicki, liquorice and me smile

WakeyCakey Wed 30-Jan-13 20:44:16

Pixie I ordered one online. So I'll give it a go when it arrives. Managed to get a work friend (who's also TTC but doesn't know I am) to get one too so it doesn't look suspicious.
Also got my ov tests today so will try them next month

Liquoriceallsort Wed 30-Jan-13 22:27:10

I am trying not to think about it too much (impossible)! I am not even sure if I ov'd - no ewcm, I've never had it (well, I've never noticed it) so I'm not even sure if I can conceive blush

vicki2122 Thu 31-Jan-13 13:28:46

Thanks wakey smile

firsttimekat Thu 31-Jan-13 19:38:49

tested this morning and BFN sad but no sign of AF. Surely one has to happen?

Found out yesterday that friend is pg and today another friend has posted on FB lots of pictures of her lovely new nursery. Obviously happy for them both but the timing is rubbish!

vicki2122 Thu 31-Jan-13 19:46:16

Firsttimecat im sorry to hear of you're BFN it will happen soon

DailySliceOfGato Fri 01-Feb-13 11:57:29

Much sympathy kat, don't worry too much - firstly until AF comes you just don't know, secondly even if it does come, it's a good excuse to eat whatever you want!

I'm currently nearing the end of the 2WW, cycle 2... my DH is having imaginary sympathy symptoms...

vicki2122 Fri 01-Feb-13 15:57:26

Test day on sunday fringers crossed its a BFP instead of a BFN

Kittykat1978 Fri 01-Feb-13 17:43:16

In shock, despite my cbfm telling me I didn't ovulate (just lows til day 17 then high, no peak) I've just got a BFP!!!!! I'm due on tomorrow, felt weird today and had a pad in in case it came early but then dashed to tesco after work. Did the test in the tesco loo- put the test in pocket- went to buy a bottle of wine and pack of fags to treat myself to commiserate and just before I got to the counter pulled it out of my pocket and saw! Me and dh are ecstatic and scared at the same time!!! Don't give up hope with opks not picking up! Praying for a sticky one! smile xxxxx

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Feb-13 18:08:03

Congratulations Kitty!!! Another BFP!! There's definitely some luck hanging around this thread! Makes me want to test!! (Got to keep reminding myself that that would be a pointless waste of money.

However my e-cig arrived today! Gives me something to keep my mind on

Liquoriceallsort Fri 01-Feb-13 20:50:41

Wow congrats kitty!!!gringringrin

firsttimekat Fri 01-Feb-13 21:03:53

congrats kitty!

still no sign of AF here, stocked up on more tests in tesco and will wait till the end of the weekend before testing again if nothing has arrived.

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Feb-13 21:19:39

Have a night in to myself tonight as DP has taken dsd out for some quality time (football hmm ) so unfortunately been perusing amazon and have somehow found myself bulk buying PG tests.
How am I so consumed in this already?
Must think if something other then babies otherwise I'll never's only been a month

Kittykat1978 Fri 01-Feb-13 22:10:28

Thanks ladies, still in shock. Had to do another just to check...

Wakey- hope ecig works for you. Once I did the test I just didn't want one. Hope this continues! I have ecig and spray in bathroom cabinet at hand just in case!

Firsttimekat- my fingers and toes are crossed for you, lady. Keep busy and keep smiling xxx

pixie0602 Sat 02-Feb-13 23:44:48

Congrats kittysmile. Wakey... How you finding it! I'm on day 5 of no real cigs and don't really need one. Got a wicked sore throat tho so dunno if I'm coming down with somethin or whether its a side effect of the cigblush... I've bought pg and ov tests on amazon in bulk too x

ELA88 Sun 03-Feb-13 09:44:18

Hey, I'd like to join too! I'm 24 and me and my husband have just started TTC, came off mercilon at the end of December and just finished my first 2ww with disappointment! It makes me feel much better to see I'm my the only one feeling this way, hopefully more luck to everyone for next month! Xxx

Ariel21 Sun 03-Feb-13 10:55:46

Wow - lucky thread, Congrats Kitty! Maybe should hang around here more often in case it rubs off...

How's everyone else getting on? I'm in the 2ww now, does everyone keep DTD regularly post-ov? We've been trying to remember to do it every 2 or three days so far this month.

WakeyCakey Sun 03-Feb-13 13:49:25

Hey ela welcome!!!

pixie it's going ok I've had a couple of normal fags but mostly stayed away. Cut down massively so I'm chuffed to bits!

forcookssake Sun 03-Feb-13 15:36:29

Hello! I'd like to join too!
I'm 31, so is my partner, and had the implant removed in September after 10+ years of hormonal contraception. I took a really casual approach for the first few months, but have now bought a basal thermometer and some ovulation tests so we can be a bit targeted and hopefully see something happen. I have MS so don't always have lots of energy so want to be a bit better informed about when to use up my enthusiasm! grin
It felt as though I spent so long actively avoiding pregnancy , now the guards are off it'd happen 'just like that' [naive emoticon!] and clearly that has not happened, so now I'm going to don my organisational hat and see what can be done!

ELA88 Sun 03-Feb-13 18:39:41

Hi forcookssake, what you said about actively avoiding getting pregnant so long is exactly how I feel! I feel like I've spent my whole teenage years being told how easy it is to fall pregnant and take precautions that as soon as I don't use it I should be pregnant! Was very disappointed for AF this morning :-( a new month another try though! Xxx

DailySliceOfGato Mon 04-Feb-13 08:00:21

!! Congratulations kittykat! And fingers crossed for you kat.

Hello forcook and ela! I agree, if only I'd known the (rather small) statistics of conception in previous years...there would have been far less stress especially during my uni years (ugh, the number of morning after pills I took blush).

Question: Does anyone avoid 'naughty foods' (stuff you're not supposed to eat while pregnant) during the 2WW? Do you behave generally during the 2ww as if you are pregnant? I was very careful for cycle 1 but this time round got fed up and convinced myself that the cycle was a write-off, and have been occasionally e.g. rare meat shock and a mouthful (literally) of champagne.

Er...however, I just did a sensitive superdrug test with FMU and there was a shadow of a shadow of a line, so faint that I think it was an optical illusion caused by me staring at the test window very hard with blurry eyes. Will waste money and test again in a couple of days, but now am feeling a teenchy bit guilty about my gastronomic excesses!

P.S. Haven't told DH about the faint faint virtually non-existent line. Will wait until I get a definite 'pregnant/not pregnant' on a clearblue test in a few days. is that very bad?

pixie0602 Mon 04-Feb-13 12:15:15

Daily... Don't worry.. A lot of women would even know their pg.. It's only because your ttc that it crossed your mind... I wouldn't feel guilty at all smilexx. Wakey how's the cig? I fell off the wagon big time last night...not happy with myself today confused

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Feb-13 12:49:52

AF has arrived today and I'm a mess at work all hormonal and teary, god only knows why!!
Fallen off the wagon probably because I know this month hasn't come to anything

Lozcat86 Mon 04-Feb-13 15:56:20

I went to GP the other week just to say that im TTC for about 18months nothing is happening etc. First im 'too young' for any fertility testing (im nearly 27) and 2nd even if i did need help e.g. IVF i wouldnt get it as my husband has 2 kids from a previous marriage....sad
oh well guess we on our own! smile

DailySliceOfGato Mon 04-Feb-13 16:50:46

Lozcat, really sorry to hear that. I'm really surprised as I had heard rumours that if you've been trying over 12 months then they will do some tests - maybe someone on this thread can advise?

If it makes it any better, I have several friends (your age) who conceived their first babies after two years plus of trying and lots of people on Mumsnet have as well.

ELA88 Mon 04-Feb-13 19:01:23

daily I don't avoid naughty foods! Although on Saturday night I didn't drink because I was convinced I was pregnant! When is AF due? That's exciting about the faint line! I did a test yesterday morning because I wasn't sure when AF was due and stared at the BFP for a good 15 minutes willing another line to appear! Xx

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Feb-13 19:43:39

I'm definitely not avoiding naughty foods tonight. When AF buggers off i may be a bit careful, although going away this weekend so will most likely eat myself silly and enjoy a good few drinks

Ariel21 Mon 04-Feb-13 19:48:16

Yes I was wondering if people avoid caffeine on the 2ww? I've just started a new part-time job in a coffee shop and I can drink as much coffee as I like... Might be difficult cutting it out completely!

ELA88 Mon 04-Feb-13 19:53:21

I tried to avoid too much caffeine in the 2ww but I don't think I drink excessive amounts anyway! How much does diet affect TTC? I think I have a reasonably healthy diet anyway but not sure what I should avoid! Xx

Ariel21 Mon 04-Feb-13 22:58:45

ELA Not sure but most advice I've read just says to eat healthily, lots of fruit, veg and protein etc - common sense I suppose, but not all that easy to practice!

rachd77 Mon 04-Feb-13 23:11:35

Hello! smile Can I join you all too? I'm 35 and partner is 33. TTC for the first time and only been trying for a few weeks. Wish you all luck and hope we all have good news soon! X

PistachioTruffle Tue 05-Feb-13 08:18:02

Hello, can I join as well?
I'm mid 20s, DH early 40s, TTC first baby since September with no luck. I'm finding it quite lonely, no one knows we are TTC and I don't want to keep blabbing about it to DH and boring him silly! 3 people I know have announced pregnancies in the last month, all of whom conceived in the time we've been trying. Of course, I don't know how long those people were TTC, and 6 months isn't really that long, but it certainly feels it sometimes.

LoveLaughingLots Tue 05-Feb-13 09:29:22

Hi All,

Would love to join you!

I'm 28 DP is also 28 and TTC our first. Had Merina IUD removed in October and haven't had any luck yet.

January I decided to start using Clear Blue OPKs but they're quite tricky to get the hang of!

Now in 2ww - fingers crossed for c4!

Good luck to everyone!

LoveLaughingLots Tue 05-Feb-13 09:42:58

Pretty much similar circumstances, lots of people falling pg around me! But let's remain positive!

All our babies are on the way!

LoveLaughingLots Tue 05-Feb-13 09:46:16

Re diet I've cut out alcohol and caffeine, I also intend to give up sugar and all confectionary type stuff for Lent as well (I have a high sugar diet that I have been trying to cut down without much success!). DP has stopped drinking alcohol as well...

DailySliceOfGato Tue 05-Feb-13 11:23:01

Hello all new people! I wonder if OP is okay as she hasn't checked in for a bit.

Thank you for reassuring me ladies. I've easily managed to resist not testing this morning as I'm scared about what it will say - I'll will try again tomorrow. I'm assuming for now that I'm NOT pregnant!

Regarding diet, according to my bible 'What to Expect...' book, too much alcohol and caffeine is linked to lowered fertility, but there's no need to cut it out completely.

We also tried to eat more green vegetables, switched some foods to organic to reduce chemical intake, and cut down on artificial sugar - things that might make a difference but wouldn't affect our daily lives too much. We have to strike a balance as we could be ages TTC-ing and we don't want to live miserable (caffeine-free) lives for the whole time!

Agree with pistachio, it is quite lonely isn't it? Unless you're the sort of person who doesn't mind sharing ups and downs with everyone (which I'm not unfortunately), all hopes and fears are just poured out on poor DH, whose ears start to bleed.

Good luck with the OPKs lovelaughing. I use a CBFM and have found that it makes our lives less stressful.

WakeyCakey Tue 05-Feb-13 11:51:46

DP and I have decided not to talk about TTC too much, he wants it as relaxed as possible so we are DTD as normal and I've promised not to tell him if I'm ovulating as he doesn't want the pressure. We have no deadline as such although DP is 40 so he doesn't want to wait forever so I'm just going with the flow.
I love having MN as I can talk freely about it as I haven't told anyone else we are trying

LoveLaughingLots Tue 05-Feb-13 12:14:56

DailySliceOfGato thanks - I haven't had much luck with them, only had a very feint indicator line, but I can feel OV pain. Will be sympton spotting over the 2ww.

Anyone into yoga out there? Just started with a new teacher who is amazing, has just given me some postures to assist fertility, anything to do with opening the hips/pelvis and using kegel muscle. Let me know if anyone is trying yoga to assist with fertility...

Stay positive guys!

ELA88 Tue 05-Feb-13 15:49:35

pistachio that's exactly how I'm feeling! Both my cousins and a friend have announced recently they're expecting! All 3 babies due within a month of each other! This time last year I was imagining me to be one of those too! No such luck yet!
daily are you reading what to expect? Is it any good? I found it on amazon when I was googling pregnancy in an attempt to cheer me up! Then I found this site which was much better! Xx

PistachioTruffle Tue 05-Feb-13 19:57:11

Thanks all for the welcome. I'm glad I took the plunge and posted, I feel a little better just not feeling so alone!

smartdoodle Tue 05-Feb-13 21:20:57

Can I join in? New to mumsnet and currently ttc. I came off the pill in May last year and been a bit irregular up until the last couple of months so properly trying now.
I'm 26, hubby 27 and trying for our first. I was quite niave when I came off the pill and kind of expected everything to just happen straight away. Now I'm getting a bit impatient and hubby gets a bit bored of me talking about babies!!

Hope you don't mind me jumping in smile

BookWormery Tue 05-Feb-13 21:23:51

I'm TTC, first DC.

Currently enjoying a large glass of wine.

Hello smile

rachd77 Tue 05-Feb-13 22:51:21

Had a couple of glasses of wine tonight, enough to make me feel tipsy and feel really guilty as feel I won't be able to conceive if I do. Only a few weeks in trying, feel like I'm pressurising myself here! Feel it's already consumed me yet trying to keep it natural as realise stress may not help matters! Also worried age is against me (am 35).

Feeling better having found MN but still analysing everything! Not able to talk to many friends as only confided in one or two that we are trying. Any advice is appreciated!

ELA88 Wed 06-Feb-13 08:07:16

Hi rach I feel like that too, I feel like I'm watching what I eat and drink incase it stops me from conceiving! And I feel like I'm watching my body so closely I'm not sure if signs and thing are in my head because I'm willing them to be there so bad!
I'm not even sure what's going on with my body right now anyway, when I've stopped my pill before my periods have always come back regularly straight away but not this time! I thought AF was coming on Sunday, the day it would've been due and then all the pain went away, had a small spot of brown nothingness and now it's stopped completely confused I hate the not knowing!! I want to be able to work out ovulation! Xxx

LoveLaughingLots Wed 06-Feb-13 08:16:37

Hi rach, BookWorm and SmartDoodle, I'm very new to MN, welcome!

This place is certainly making me feel more calm because I can ask the questions I want and talk about babies as much as I want! Lol

Me and OH are 28, TTC our first. This is c4 after coming off Merina IUD late last year.

Bring on the BFPs!

LoveLaughingLots Wed 06-Feb-13 08:26:17

ELA time to POAS??

Ariel21 Wed 06-Feb-13 08:32:34

LLL I had a mirena too, had it out end of December. Did you find your cycles got back to normal quite quickly? I've had one AF visit and have out this into the Ladytimer (haha) app, so at least I can try and track my cycle.

ELA88 Wed 06-Feb-13 09:20:04

I'm not sure love ! I did a test last Sunday morning because I thought AF was due on Monday (that's only when it would've been due when I was taking the pill) so maybe my cycle is later and I didn't ovulate till after? Hmm I might wait till Friday and if still no proper AF ill poas on Saturday morning? I hate waiting and not knowing! But I'm so glad I've found this site because I have no one else to talk about TTC! Xxx

ELA I'm trying to be "at peace" with the waiting..otherwise I'll drive myself mad. Everyone says that you should relax and it will happen, so I'm TRYING to behave like that...Have you had any OV pain?

Ariel I was spotting within a few days of having it taken out (late September) and AF has been as regular as clockwork since then. But January she was here for two weeks! But Dr said everything was ok, just an odd month. Apparently as soon as you remove the Merina the hormone is gone, which is v reassuring.

DailySliceOfGato Wed 06-Feb-13 10:36:49

Greetings rach, BookWorm and SmartDoodle. I lurked for ages on the Conception board before finally investing in this thread! And I'm glad I did! Like most people TTC, I have been trying hard and pretending outwardly to be calm and rational and living life normally, so it's great to have an outlet.

ELA, we did read the first few chapters of 'What to Expect' when we started TTC (there's a 'Conception' chapter) - and we found it very detailed and readable. It felt very naughty buying it because we weren't actually 'expecting'! The layout is a bit strange, but it has a comprehensive index. I expect that people who prefer a laid-back TTC process might not want to read it, but DH and I found it answered lots of our questions.

LLL, no yoga for me, but it sounds like a great idea. Pilates helped me feel that I was preparing my body and not just killing time before a BFP.

rach don't worry about your age and a glass of wine.

So, as an update, after my virtually non-existent faint line on Monday morning (about 10 DPO) I re-tested again today and got a proper BFP on a Superdrug test (which I would fully recommend - really sensitive and cheap as well) and a Clear Blue digital! shock So fingers crossed hopefully this little one will decide to stay.

I'll hang around a bit on this thread because I'm too scared to move across to pregnancy board at such an early stage (as I've tested early, who knows, it might be a chemical pregnancy...), but nonetheless THE VERY BEST OF LUCK to everyone!

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Feb-13 11:31:10

Congratulations Daily !!!!

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Feb-13 11:36:20

Wallowing in AF self pity at the moment. Bulk buy of PG test arrived this morning which means I'm all set for next month. Lets hope for a nice early ovulation. Although I went to the DRs yesterday for something else and she said as a side note chart my cycle for the next 3 months to get a better idea of length etc being as I've had 3 afs (one just as coming off pill) since New Years so to count them until April and not get too consumed until then.

ELA88 Wed 06-Feb-13 12:42:19

Aww thanks daily I think I'll invest in it! Give me something to read! And congrats :-) very exciting! How much was the Superdrug test? I bought 2 early response boots own that were £8.99 for 2 but DH was moaning at the expense! May secretly buy some!!

wakey i came off my pill the beginning of jan and I've only had my withdrawal bleed so far! I don't even know where I am in my cycle as my AF was due Monday?! Are you using a opk to try and work out ovulation? Xxx

LoveLaughingLots Wed 06-Feb-13 13:31:36

DailySliceOfGato I intend to continue with the yoga during pregnancy so I thought I'd step it up whilst TTC! I feel so much better when I exercise!

Wakey congratulations!

I can't wait until we all graduate and are on the Pregnancy board! grin

Who else is in 2ww?

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Feb-13 18:44:00

LLL It's congratulations daily grin

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Feb-13 18:46:39

Ela I'm not using a monitor. Decided not to waste ovulation sticks because I have no idea how long my cycle is or where to begin. May do this month

ELA88 Wed 06-Feb-13 18:59:39

Yeah I think I'll just wait and see what happens for a month or so, ill end up spending tons of money on opk and tests! Ive downloaded a cycle tracker app on my phone! At least I have my little cat to keep me company tonight while my husband marks test papers :-(

PistachioTruffle Wed 06-Feb-13 19:10:29

Congratulations daily!!

Has anyone else tried the Clearblue digital OPK's? I'm on cycle day 15 and so far no smiley face, but then I do have a longer cycle so perhaps that would explain why. I hope I get one at some point, or i'll feel as if i've wasted £20 blush

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Feb-13 19:21:03

That's how I feel pistachio I don't want to waste the money if I get no smiley face. But I still want to know what's going on. If only they could be super cheap

Ariel21 Wed 06-Feb-13 19:27:30

Congrats Daily!

Yes LLL am in my first ever 2ww, finding it ok but v aware of any symptoms, however psychosomatic they might be...

How are you getting on?

PistachioTruffle Wed 06-Feb-13 20:05:22

Yep WakeyCakey, I justified it to myself by thinking it was just for one month, and I could try and use them to pinpoint other symptoms of ov and learn more about my cycle for future months (although i'm hoping I won't need to!)
I considered the cheapy line ones, but it sounded a bit too complicated with the lines/lines getting darker thing, so I thought smiley faces were an easier bet. At this rate, it could become a very expensive habit though grin

LoveLaughingLots Wed 06-Feb-13 21:33:13

Ariel the 2ww! My first since using OPKs (although I can't tell when I O'd) but if I go off of most O Calendar predictions I O'd on 3rd...? Not 100%, but I'm cramping a bit, so something is going on! Any symptoms??

wakey soz!!! Got it wrong, that must be a sign that its you next! lol congrats daily all the best! Xx

I got my new super sensitive O sticks today, praying I won't need to use them in this cycle!

Poppy79 Wed 06-Feb-13 21:40:34

Congrats daily!
I'm on my 2nd 2ww, had a few symptoms but don't really trust them after I had so many symptoms last 2ww and got a bnf & AF arrived!
Bought a bulk pack of the strip tests on the net which arrived today, might be trying them out over the next few days! Trying to convince myself it'll be a bnf though so as not to get too obsessed and not be too disappointed if its another bnf. So easy to get obsessed! lol
good luck to all xx

Ariel21 Wed 06-Feb-13 22:49:39

Yes LOTS of imaginary symptoms! Boobs, cramps, hunger, fatigue, tingling belly, bloating... Who knows eh? Might just try and forget about it until next week. I've never POAS before even! Such a novice.

LoveLaughingLots Thu 07-Feb-13 06:16:31

Morning All,

Ariel as well as what you've said, I'm experiencing break-outs as well! Argh! Lets hope these are genuine symptoms! FX

Let's be positive poppy!

DailySliceOfGato Thu 07-Feb-13 15:15:14

Thank you lovely people for your good wishes! I haven't been congratulated by anyone so far apart from you (because we haven't told anyone...and obviously DH hasn't 'congratulated' me, which would be weird). Still a bit paranoid that it won't stick.

Hope the 2WW is going by fast for those in it. All the symptom-spotting was great fun for us as we approached it as a bit of a light-hearted game! I definitely noticed some clearly imagined symptoms on the cycles when I wasn't pregnant - sore boobs, strange tastes in my mouth etc. The one clue I had this cycle was that I was suddenly really exhausted a few days before my BFP.

Ariel, POAS-ing (especially if it's first thing in the morning) can be a bit of an acquired skill so don't feel bad at all if the first time you do it you miss the stick or pee all over it (not that such a thing has ever happened to me) shock

P.S. If anyone is taking the ridiculously expensive Pregnacare Plus tablets (the ones that include an Omega 3 tablet), they are currently half-price at Superdrug (online and instore). I promise I don't work for Superdrug! I spotted them yesterday and stocked up!

Ariel21 Thu 07-Feb-13 18:04:02

Excellent, thanks for the advice... Much more likely to pee all over myself I'm sure... eww

Might have a go next week. Excited much?!

ELA88 Thu 07-Feb-13 19:58:42

I'm glad it's not just me that peed all over the thing! Especially after reading on the instructions it can affect the test! Best be more careful next time! ariel when is AF due? Xxx

Ariel21 Thu 07-Feb-13 20:05:44

It's hard to know as I don't know the length of my cycle yet - I've only had one period post-mirena (none at all whilst I had it - 2 years). If my cycle is 28 days then it will be next Wed/Thur. Valentines!

LoveLaughingLots Fri 08-Feb-13 06:20:17

Good morning ladies!

I'm still symptom spotting every moment of my life! Lol definitely feeling something going on! Cramping on my right side every now and then and then a more dull pain there too. Feels like OV pain, but I'm quite sure I'm 4DPO...not obsessed at all! Lol smile

How is everyone? Any BFPS???!

ELA88 Fri 08-Feb-13 06:52:00

Just poas and got a bfn :-( not very happy! Especially after having a dream I was pregnant! Need to try and stop thinking about it so much but it's hard! Also not even sure where I am in my cycle as never got AF? If your cycle is really long do you still ovulate at some point? Xx

SloaneRaver Fri 08-Feb-13 09:16:18

Hello! I want to join you guys on our common mission for this year.

We are TTC for the first time, I am 34 and dh is 31.

I have been off the pill for years, doing temperature charting and mucus monitoring.

Hope to conceive consciously, though tried for first time last night and mister was a little, shall we say, reluctant!

WakeyCakey Fri 08-Feb-13 12:03:53

So AF finished yesterday. I have worked this out as having a 16 day cycle !!!!! Is that even possible? No idea if that meant I ovulated or not or if I will or not.
Anyone got any idea how many days after AF I would be likely to ovulate in this case? My app on my phone has put my ovulation dates in the middle of AF so I can't trust it at all.

God when I was 17 I got pregnant using a condom and MAP and now that I want to I have no idea how!

LoveLaughingLots Fri 08-Feb-13 12:07:56

SloaneRaver Hiya, welcome to the fun! Is this your first month TTC? Got a bit confused because you said you've been off the pill for years...

BlueFreckles defo loving the positive thinking, makes me feel good, been trying visualisation as well.

ELA maybe you're too early?? Do you know when you O'd?

Daily will defo check out the Pregnacare tablets, thank you!

LoveLaughingLots Fri 08-Feb-13 12:19:33

Wakey Of course you will Ov! I thought it was 14 - 16 days after d1, are you using OPKs or temping or anything like that?

Don't even get me started on spending years trying NOT to get pg and now trying TO get pg...

WakeyCakey Fri 08-Feb-13 13:03:53

Have used some clear blue ov sticks but no smiley face so far. It's just the uncertainty I don't like.
Can't imagine doing this for years!

kd83 Fri 08-Feb-13 14:35:25

Ok AF may have been due last week or tmrw (cycle is somewhere between 28 and 35 days). Don't have any symptoms yet and have bought pg test kit but don't want to use it too soon and be left disappointed. Totally bricking it! Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Plan to test Sunday if AF doesn't come. Will keep you posted...

DailySliceOfGato Fri 08-Feb-13 16:59:47

Good luck kd! Plan some fun indulgent distractions between now and Sunday!

Ariel, I forgot to say, if you do want to get 'What to Expect...'make sure you get the UK version and not the original US version. I think the UK version has a quote by Mariella Frostrup on the front.

Wakey, I've also heard from a few people that the apps are a really misleading because few women ovulate at the 'average' time. Apparently that's why it's advised to DTD every other day from a couple of days after your period ends until 2 days after you get your smiley face (don't health professionals realise how exhausting this is if we don't get an indication of ovulation!?). I'd definitely stick to trying ovulation sticks for another month.

WakeyCakey Fri 08-Feb-13 18:20:14

In that case DTD shall commence tonight, every other day until the smile arrives. Lets hope it does before I collapse from exhaustion smile

SloaneRaver Sat 09-Feb-13 14:22:12

Hi all and LoveLaughingLots

Sorry to confuse! I was never suited to the pill but only now TTC first time. DH is still a bit in shock about DTD on demand after years of "practising" for this moment!

Good luck WakeyCakey! Seems we're both busy this weekend!

WakeyCakey Sat 09-Feb-13 16:47:50

Nicely coincides with a weekend away smile

ELA88 Sat 09-Feb-13 17:58:36

I don't know when I o'd, I don't even know where I am in my cycle to be honest! I've just come to the conclusion that if we dtd at least every other day from now on then I hopefully will conceive eventually! Hope everyone's having a good weekend :-) xxx

Liquoriceallsort Sat 09-Feb-13 18:42:55

Very silly question but do you think I'd be silly to go on the power plate whilst ttc? I don't want to renew my gym membership as it is a 12 month contract but I am getting plump shock

LoveLaughingLots Sat 09-Feb-13 22:08:16

Evening Ladies,

This cycle we've DTD at least every other day! If I'm not pg in this cycle it's going to knock my confidence a bit. When I read about ovulation and conception videos they don't state the reason as to why an egg wouldn't be fertilised by a sperm...I'm almost at the point of making demands now!

I think we should all just DTD every other day, then it's GOT to work almost instaneously! Haha

ELA88 Sat 09-Feb-13 22:21:10

Exactly my thinking love !! It must work! Maybe we'll all have Valentines day conceptions :-) xxx

Hi there can I join?!

I'm 33 and DP is 34 and we're on month 2 of TTC. Finding it mega hard not to worry that it won't happen etc etc especially when my best friend managed it weeks after stopping the pill and wasn't even thinking about it! Finding it hard to be mega happy for her even tho I am delighted its happened so easily - it's just a bit awkward sometimes!

Trying to overcome the urge to repeatedly poas even tho its def not time to do that!

ELA88 Sun 10-Feb-13 13:30:30

Hey fairy welcome! I'm in month 2 of TTC too and I'm exactly the same! Convinced it will never happen! And everyone I know seems to be announcing their pregnancies right now xxx

Hi there!

I seem to see babies and pregnant women EVERYWHERE! And if I'm told one more time to be patient and stop worrying I think I'll scream lol. Trying to be circumspect and wait for things to happen but this TTC really does change the way you think!

ELA88 Sun 10-Feb-13 14:36:15

Yeah same here! It's only been about 7 weeks since I stopped taking my pill but it feels like we've been trying forever. My dh doesn't seem too bothered when it happens but for me it's becoming a bit of an obsession! Xxx

SloaneRaver Sun 10-Feb-13 14:40:20

@Liquoriceallsort hi! I'm no expert on the risks of the powerplate, but I listen to a couple of people who are: my yoga teacher and Tim Weeks, a great personal trainer. Both say avoid anything other than walking until the 3 months is all clear, then mild yoga and walking only.

gillian1986 Sun 10-Feb-13 14:50:14

Hi, I'm jumping in if thats ok!?

Im 26 years old and my husband is 30 smile

I was on the pill for over 10 years up until very recently - came off the pill on 21st December 2012. Had a "pill period" from 25th december to 29th december and then never went back on the pill - very exciting for me really as I have been on the pill for a huge part of my life.

We are trying for a baby and its very exciting! We gained a lot of nieces and nephews last year and have decided that after our wedding last month we would like to start our own family!

Heard all the stories about women not even having a period for months and months after coming off the pill but I had a period on 25th jan until 29th so was quite happy with that!!!!!

Had sex on Wednesday and wasnt really even thinking at the time about ttc or anything but realised that if my cyles are pretty much "normal" straight away then actually that was a great time to have sex! Day 13 of cycle!

Since then I have had the worst abdominal pain and bloating.... I'm already wondering if I could be pregnant! Haha.. Maybe I am? Maybe not... We will have to wait and see!

I have no idea what a "normal" cycle is for me so it makes this all a little more difficult I guess but I'm sure there are other women in the same boat as me!

I'm not 100% sure of my cycle either since coming off the pill but to be fair when I expected a period (1 feb) there it was! It's very easy to get carried away with dates and stressing about ovulation I think - I catch myself on doing it!

gillian1986 Sun 10-Feb-13 17:18:13

Hi fairydogmother - I'm the same! Didnt know what to expect... had my withdrawal bleed as expected when i first came off the pill and then my first true period came right on time! well actually it was 1-2 days later than i thought but about right! I'd love (like most of us) to get pregnant really quickly....! but i guess its a waiting game and might as well have some fun with my husband in the mean time!! ;)

Lol Gillian that sounds like a very good way of looking at things!

Been trying not to mope this afternoon as my friend is talking packing her hospital bag envy. I am so excited for her but it makes me want it for me all the more

Liquoriceallsort Sun 10-Feb-13 17:36:31

Thanks sloane! I will stick to walking even though I am not pg yet I guess it is not worth the risk.

gillian1986 Sun 10-Feb-13 17:43:20

Ah same.. everyone around me is pregnant or having babies although I think we notice is even more when we are trying to conceive! 2 colleagues have had baby boys in the last 2 weeks... another one just before xmas... got 2 nephews who both just turned 1 and a baby niece who is 3 months old! Also pretty sure my sister (who has a 1 year old boy) is trying again as I spied pregnacare conception+pregnancy tablets in her bathroom again (2 of which had been taken - new packet!) im quite the detective ;)

ELA88 Sun 10-Feb-13 17:54:37

Hmm fairy you must be just infront of me in your cycle, or you were until my no show! my period was due the 4th and nothing came, so I'm not really sure where I am! We'll just have to keep dtd until hopefully it happens! Xxx

Lol I guess that's the best bit tho! This week my OH will get way more 'attention' than usual!

ELA88 Sun 10-Feb-13 18:35:36

Lol my dh has already caught onto my eagerness and I've already had a reply of "you only want it so you'll get pregnant!" We'll maybe...but it's not like he's losing out either! Xx

Haha it is strange when you've spent a long time trying NOT to get pg! X

SloaneRaver Sun 10-Feb-13 22:04:24

Fairy, ELa, yes! isn't it so funny after all these years of trying not to get pregs?

ELA88 Sun 10-Feb-13 22:50:18

Yep! I've always had it drummed into me that it's so easy to fall pregnant and honestly just thought I'd fall pregnant as soon as I stopped taking the pill! Now were trying hard to get pregnant! Xxx

crazycatlady82 Mon 11-Feb-13 07:45:12

Hi girlies,

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread.

I am 30 and DH is 37. We have been TTC our first for oh, about 2 weeks now! I am also on the JSing thread as I don't want to become obsessed - easier said than done! 2 BFNs on the 'early' tests but I'm not even late yet... (Period ay be due any time between the 13th and 17th - I do usually keep better track but not so much over Xmas...)

Someone said that you spend your life avoiding babies and almost expect to get pregnant the day you stop contraception - totally agree!!!

I was certain I would get a BFP on the early tests - oh what a crazy cat I am!

Best of luck to all girls TTC.

Is anyone else in the TWW?

gillian1986 Mon 11-Feb-13 08:15:42

Im stuck and bored in the 2 week wait right now! Af due around 21st feb - only came off the pill in december so not 100% regular right now which is annoying!

So funny reading about partners saying "you only want it so you'll get pregnant!" - my husband has already cottoned on to the fact I want to dtd more! Obviously hes fine with it but its VERY obvious! hahahah blush

according to the calendar this is my week for dtd as much as possible! though dont feel great - think i'm fighting something off as i'm knackered and i feel a bit sick! but i'm sure that will pass lol

LoveLaughingLots Mon 11-Feb-13 10:16:23

CrazyCatLady I'm in 2ww and I'm not going mad just yet, trying to be positive! Insert big fake smile here I

Take a look at the Two Week Wait thread - sorry I have no idea how to do a link!

ELA88 Mon 11-Feb-13 17:35:56

My cycle is a mess so I don't know whether I'm in a 2ww or not but that's probably a good thing! At least I don't have to stress for 2 weeks waiting to see what happens! Xx

I've got serious side pain today like never before. Wasn't sure if it was my appendix going bad!

ELA88 Mon 11-Feb-13 20:45:10

Ohh no fairy I had appendicitis, it's so painful. Which side is the pain on? Has it moved at all? Xx

It on the left around my hip bone. Kind of cramps and then subsides and its def not trapped wind lol. Feel very tender across my lower abdomen like just before a period. Not particularly nice! X

star87 Tue 12-Feb-13 09:06:58

Hi, can I join in?

Me and my fiancée are both 25 and ttc our first. I came off the pill last April and have pretty much been trying ever since.

Both of us are getting frustrated that nothing seems to be happening and a lot of our friends seem to be getting pregnant either quickly or accidently!!

A friend of mine is training in Body Talk and did a session with me on Friday and said that I am carrying a lot of stress on my ovaries and I also have a fear of not being able to conceive which is also putting a lot of strain on my body. Some might think this is a load of rubbish but it does make a lot of sense to me.

AF is due today and so far - no signs.

Best of luck to everyone else. Fingers crossed we all get our BFP soon smile xxx

kd83 Tue 12-Feb-13 10:28:46

OMG! Did POAS last night and got a strong positive!! I was starting to think i was late but looks like its happened.

have Drs appt on Thursday to confirm. totally bricking it now! i cant actually believe it!

fx for everyone else. x

yaay congrats x

HotSoupDumpling Tue 12-Feb-13 11:34:34

Congrats kd! See you on the antenatal/preg threads!

HotSoupDumpling Tue 12-Feb-13 11:35:11

(P.S. whoops, I am/was DailySliceOfGato, but like to namechange regularly!)

WakeyCakey Tue 12-Feb-13 11:53:06

Congrats kd
There is definitely some luck on this thread. Poor DP has done his back in so this probably won't be the month for us. But I am glad to say my fear that I don't ovulate is going,

I may be wrong but I believe there is EWCM today. Means my cycle is really short but it has to be a positive for the future

PistachioTruffle Tue 12-Feb-13 13:06:14

Congratulations kd! Fingers crossed for everyone else.

Cycle day 21 here, still no obvious signs of ovulation or smiley faces.

Ariel21 Tue 12-Feb-13 22:31:41

12dpo. Expecting AF on Thurs. Keep losing track of this thread but it looks like we have another BFP - congrats KD! Fingers crossed for everyone else testing this week. I just bought 2 clear blue digital for next week (if AF doesn't show, obv. Not wasting them if it does!)

crazycatlady82 Wed 13-Feb-13 06:38:47

Congrats KD!

AF arrived this morning so I'm out this month. Maybe next month.

Only good thing is a glass of wine tomorrow night

yaay for wine tho crazycatlady82 x

LoveLaughingLots Wed 13-Feb-13 10:35:39

Congratulations KD - so happy for you!

ELA88 Wed 13-Feb-13 20:49:15

Grr in such a bad mood today and need somewhere to vent..sorry girls!! So tired and my cat is really sick and keeps getting diarrhoea on the floor, luckily we have laminate flooring! Then my DH tells me a 'funny' story of how his best mates ex rang him today saying she's pregnant and starts making comments about being stuck with her for life etc, then I get upset because I actually want to be pregnant and am not!! Ahh! Stupid Wednesday! Xxx

WakeyCakey Wed 13-Feb-13 20:57:40

ELA can I join you on stupid Wednesday?
Work colleague announced her pregnancy today. 5 weeks gone from a one night stand on the pill! Talk about a smack in the face!

I am happy for her of course but I did sneak off for a cry while everyone was crowded round her asking for the sordid details.

Lets hope for a better Thursday!

I will just point out I'm not judging her for a one night stand, fair play to her for having fun, I just wish she hadn't come into work with a post it stuck to her tummy with 'baby on board' written on it.
Lets hope she isn't on mumsnet grin

ELA88 Wed 13-Feb-13 21:15:20

Haha maybe she'll be more sensitive if she is and reads this! All I feel like I see at the moment is accidental pregnancies! I really resent these women, I sound like such a horrible person and feel guilty for feeling it! Hopefully it will be a better Thursday! My dh is playing footy anyway so a lovely bath and relaxing evening! Hopefully my cat is feeling better tomorrow too! Xxx

crazycatlady82 Thu 14-Feb-13 07:19:49

So, valentines day!

Anyone have any exciting plans?

I am a bit of a 'last minute' person, so went to buy a card and wee token present last night and forgot my pin. Then went to the car to get my phone, STILL got it wrong and had to leave a very busy shop very red faced sad

ELA88 Thu 14-Feb-13 08:15:22

Oh no :-( we haven't bothered with valentines day this year, although I don't think we've ever spent a valentines day together actually as my DH has always worked away and tonight he's playing footy! Blah so much for a better Thursday, I'm in such a horrible fed up mood again! Cries before I left for work after spending 20 minutes trying to get the cat to swallow his tablet :-( roll on Friday and the weekend! Xxx

ELA88 Thu 14-Feb-13 08:18:37

And to top it all I have horrible little spots all over my chin! I never get spots! sad

123234345 Thu 14-Feb-13 08:42:54

Hello Bluefreckles and Purplefairies - we met in January when we were all late with our periods. Hello everyone else too.

We're TTC our first child. I'm 34 and my husband is 35. We've been trying since last March and I've booked a GP appointment on Monday to check everything's ok. On the one hand, I really don't feel in a hurry to start a family, but on the other, I know I'm getting on so I think it's sensible to go to the GP at this stage.

Good luck everyone!

Aw having a baby on board sign stuck to your tummy is such a stupid thing to do! Not exactly thinking if others may find that offensive and upsetting never mind really dumb looking!

I got beautiful flowers, underwear and a card from DP this morning and we've a nice dinner for tonight. This is the week for DTD so hoping the valentines love I'll result in a bit more than just a hangover tomorrow!

Meemawandmoonpie Thu 14-Feb-13 13:11:43

Hi ladies, can I join?
Both me and OH are 30, came off the pill the 1st jan so I guess from now on we are actually trying (after 12 years together it seemed like we should get started). I just want to wish everyone very good luck and sending lots of baby dust and baby vibes all your ways.
Congratulations to everyone who's got positives the last few weeks and look forward to speaking more to people who don't mind me jawing on and on about babies, ha!
Actually can I pick your brains a mo'? As I said, I came off the pill 1st jan, mid pack (new year, new me and all that), then no AF till the 1st -4th feb, so not sure if it's a real AF or a pill one. Any ideas? My app on iPad says I should be OV today and am currently having a small stich like feeling on right side, low sort of towards hip... Could that be it?
Anyways, newbie signing off now,
Thanks all...x

123234345 Fri 15-Feb-13 00:15:07

Meemawandmoonpie - what difference does it make whether it was a 'real' AF or not? The fact that you had it means you're not pregnant, and the fact that you're not on the pill means you should ovulate at some point between this one and the next, so what's the difference?

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 06:52:42

Umm, ok. Thanks for that though I didn't ask if anyone thought I was pregnant. So nice and helpful here, cheers!

WakeyCakey Fri 15-Feb-13 07:20:07

Welcome meema!!

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 07:30:41

Good morning wakey
Lovely day for an early morning wake up!
such fun
Afraid I may have been a bit cranky there, this is what happens when going to bed with a tummy full of chocolate fondue and a bottle of bolly

debbie1412 Fri 15-Feb-13 07:51:14

Hey guys, im not joining this group just having a snoop really :-). Can I recommend a website called access diagnostic. It's where I bought all my ovulation tests from and other bits and bobs. Way way cheaper. Very basic but got my 2 lovely children. Hope it helps your ttc, I know it can consume you. Good luck x

Hi meema!

Not sure what all that was about but I know where you're coming from. Loads of things I've read always talk about the first period after coming off the pill as not being 'real' as such! It does seem to take a wee while to regulate itself but you can still get pregnant as soon as you come off so good luck! X

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 08:20:25

Ahhh nay bother fairy
Its not personal, the t'interweb can be easy to misconstrue what some people say/mean, so no skin of my nose.
Yeah that's what I meant, hoping it was a 'real AF' so I can start to work out my cycle length, thanks for getting back to me too!

I'm 2 months off the pill and hoping that this month is a lucky one! It's so bloody hard to know what's going on in there lol x

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 09:03:51

Looks like we're in the same place!
Good luck and fingers crossed.
I'm secretly hoping headaches every day and cramps are a good sign for me, but I reckon I may be OV'ing but not entirely sure what that feels like TBH as I've been on the pill for 15 years.

I got awful pain in my side this month which I never had being on the pill ever.

Now got to wait to test - argh! X

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 09:43:27

Exciting... Not the pains obviously though x

123234345 Fri 15-Feb-13 15:31:03

Meemawandmoonpie - sorry, I realise I came across as rather confrontational. I was just confused. I hope I didn't upset you too much. This is all rather emotional stuff isn't it!

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 15:35:34

Was a bit confused, but no harm done, 'Tis a very emotional time for all! Take care and hope to see a BFP next to your name soon!

WakeyCakey Fri 15-Feb-13 15:44:32

meemaw I have just properly looked at your name. I live Big Bang and it has brightened my otherwise shit day.

Meemawandmoonpie Fri 15-Feb-13 16:27:27

wakey I abso frickin lutely love Dr Sheldon Cooper! I'm a bit of a nerd girl in RL, I'm glad it brightened up an uninspiring day! But I do hope truly, that it's gets perked up a bit more for you x

WakeyCakey Fri 15-Feb-13 18:24:08

Well struggling with flu at the moment so I think this month is a waste of time. Only actually manages to DTD 3 times so far in the last 2 weeks. Hoping I perk up by next week, although ovulation is still a bit of a tease for me as I have no idea if its happened or not already. Just waiting for next AF then starting again.

Hope everyone is getting a bit more action at the right times!

ELA88 Sat 16-Feb-13 14:48:16

Happy weekend everyone! I am in a much better mood after long awaited weekend and half term :-) hopefully a relatively stress free week off work for me and DH will help us with TTC! Hope everyone is well and wakey you're feeling better xxx

Happy weekend back!

Wish I was off work next week! I was wedding dress shopping yesterday and I think I've found the ONE! X

ELA88 Sun 17-Feb-13 08:25:36

Aww that's so exciting! I loved wedding planning! Now were married though we have nothing to plan for at the moment or countdown to! When is the big day? Xxx

It's 5 September 2014 as we were hoping to have had a baby by then! I'm one for doing things out of order lol x

lucieloos Sun 17-Feb-13 12:05:20

Hi there everyone,

Can I join you as well please. Both my dp and I are 33 and ttc #1. Came off the pill about a week ago but stopped the pack mid cycle (and missed some of the pills from the first half) so my cycle is a bit messed up at the moment. Had a break through bleed shortly after but no idea when AF is due at the moment. Wish it would hurry up so I can start working out OV!

Anyway fingers crossed for BFPs for us all soon! smile

Hi there lucieloos x

PistachioTruffle Sun 17-Feb-13 18:14:16

That's very exciting Fairydogmother! I loved looking at wedding gowns, what's it like?

In TTc news, I'm on cycle day 26 and have given up on the OPK's for this month with a few left in the pack after getting no smiley face and little in the way of EWCM. I think I'm going to test on the 26th (next tues) if AF hasn't turned up then.

ELA88 Sun 17-Feb-13 19:50:17

Aww that will come round fast though! We got married in November, but tried for a baby a couple of months end of 2011, with no success :-( so decided to stop, wait till we're married and try again as soon as we could after! Random question though girls...I'm on month 2 now and today ive been getting stomach cramps like mild period pain, according to my period tracker app I woul be ovulating tomorrow if I had my normal 28 cycle. But I had no AF at beginning of feb, so can I still ovulate? Xxx

OiBlin Sun 17-Feb-13 20:23:02

Hi everyone, mind if I join you on this lovely thread?! It looks like a very supportive (and lucky!) place to be!

I'm 31, dh 30, ttc #1 for 1 month only so far. Currently waiting for AF to finish to start the whole roller coaster ride again! How familiar it was reading all the posts... 1 little month in and I'm already paranoid it won't happen, been on every site seeing average time to conceive (and seeing which statistic I like best)... Symptom spotting, twiddling thumbs during first 2ww... Head saying 'give over, you've spent the whole of your 20s avoiding pregnancy and babies and now you'd like to conceive this very month?!' Heart saying 'er, yeah and what of it?!'

Nice to let it all out here, as dh is already worrying I've turned into a woman possessed and we're trying to keep number of people who know we're ttc to absolute minimum...

Anyway, good luck to everyone here and massive congratulations to those who've got their bfps! Xx

Zumbasmyfave Sun 17-Feb-13 21:56:04

Hello all I'd like to join!

I'm 27 & my DH is 29, we have been TTC since jan. Came off pill beginning december and haven't had a proper AF yet which is a bit of a bugger! I was on it for YYYEEEEEEAAAAARRRRSSS though so I suppose that it would take time. Am so keen though!! If I'd known it would take so long to get back to normal I would have came off it sooner.. ho-hum!

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Fingers crossed for BFPs all round soon!

The best way to describe by dress is that its swan like! but in a very good way lol.

its def hard to figure out whats going on with cycles etc - the pill is brilliant but things are weird when you come off it! wish i'd come off months ago rather than leaving it until december sad

ELA88 Mon 18-Feb-13 12:39:22

Do you have a link to the dress online fairy? I miss wedding dress shopping! I wish I'd come off the pill earlier if I'd known it would take this long to get my normal cycle back! I think I ovulated today as I had a sharp period type pain in my right ovary! Hopefully because today would be when it was expected! Xxx

123234345 Mon 18-Feb-13 17:05:44

I went to the GP today as we've been trying for nearly a year so I thought I'd get the ball rolling with tests and things. She gave me a form to go for blood tests and said that once those have come in she will refer me to the fertility clinic. I'll keep you all updated with what happens in case anyone reading this is getting to the stage where they want to go to the GP.

It's a pronovios dress - uldar I think it's called.

Fingers xd you're ovulating and have been DTD plenty!

123234345 hope the tests etc come back quick and you get get good help x

ELA88 Mon 18-Feb-13 23:50:01

Wow amazing dress! I love the skirt part, it's so different! There's so many gorgeous dresses on the website! Jealous! Haha going to attempt to dtd every day till my AF is due in 2 weeks (supposedly!!) xxx

Thank you! Can't wait to wear it.

This waiting until AF is due is killing me. I'm not a patient person at the best of times! X

crazycatlady82 Tue 19-Feb-13 13:20:51

Oh fairy! I completely understand. It drove me demented the first month.

Also, just curious, has anyone else experienced their husbands demanding daily sex on the grounds we are 'making a baby'?

It's not the sex I'm bothered about, just the fact he wants to do it at 5.30am. And I have explained I'm not ovulating (AF left on Sunday) but he just carries on regardless!

Today I am a disgruntled little cat lady...

lol my other half doesnt instigate things just as much as i'd like! tho generally if he does i'm not in the mood - typical!

ELA88 Tue 19-Feb-13 14:49:58

catlady I thought the exact same thing this morning and yesterday! I thought I was the one a little obsessed with the whole pregnancy thing but in the car yesterday I mentioned I thought I should be ovulating yesterday and he said "what? We should've dtd this morning then!" And he's instigating much more saying "I want to get you pregnant!" Which I'm not going to complain about! Very random though because I thought he wouldn't be massively bothered and have a "it will happen in time" approach! Xxx

WakeyCakey Tue 19-Feb-13 19:12:26

DP is out tonight, getting some much needed rest with the flu still about me.
Still haven't ovulated this month. AF finished on the 7th so feeling a bit crap.
According to my AFs since New year I should come on again pretty soon but hoping I can stretch to a 28 day cycle instead if 16 days,
Do you think I still have a shot at ovulating this month or could it still just be the effects of the pill wearing off (last one New Year's Eve)

crazycatlady82 Tue 19-Feb-13 19:32:02

ela haha!

Maybe it's because they see it as male virility - me man! You woman! You will have my baby <ands beat chest as woman is in aww of his manliness>

smile xx

Lol x

crazycatlady82 Tue 19-Feb-13 19:43:26

Oh ms cakey of course you do smile

I went to see a obs and gyno dr when I a my coil out and she sad that your highest chance of conceiving is when you first come off the pill so, don the cape and DTD...

crazycatlady82 Tue 19-Feb-13 19:43:52

Flipping iPad autocorrect sad

ELA88 Tue 19-Feb-13 19:48:30

Lol I think you got it in one there! At least I'm feeling a bit more relaxed this month, well at the moment anyway! And no poas for me if I can hold out! I've not bought anymore yet to stop any temptation. So glad I found this forum though, it makes me feel better knowing there are other girls feeling the same way as me and are here to listen! Think I'm having a bit of a moment! Xxx

WakeyCakey Tue 19-Feb-13 19:54:42

I don't think my flu is helping! Just down at the moment. Maybe a spring time conception for me smile

On the flip side, I am seriously considering making a cape tonight!!

ELA88 Tue 19-Feb-13 20:02:11

Aww get better wakey! Maybe it will make you feel better? My DH seems to think its a cure for all? Xxx

I def feel better actually being able to talk about things with other people too!

It's all so hush hush normally!

Having an alcohol free beer and chips - healthy dinner not lol x

ELA88 Tue 19-Feb-13 20:24:11

I had chips and saveloy for lunch so had a healthy salad dinner! Glad I did really as supersize v superskinny is making me feel a bit sick! Xxx

I've ridden my horse and done 5k on the exercise bike so happily stuffing my face with aunt Bessie's crinkle cut chips in a butty lol grin

123234345 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:54:21

Fairydogmother - wow that is a fabulous dress. Hope you have a fab day!

I'm jealous of all of you with partners wanting lots of sex! Mine is willing but works very long hours so we aren't doing it as much as we should :-( Having said that, I'm not sure I could cope with a husband demanding sex at 5:30am!

Thank you! Mega excited to wear it lol.

Anybody else feeling very mighty pissed off at waiting to POAS?! I've had cramping today - very mild but annoying. Hoping that's a good sign... X

ELA88 Wed 20-Feb-13 22:27:24

fairy when's AF due? I've still got 10 days till AF so trying not to think about it yet xxx

Due next Thursday/ Friday. So could see maybe next Tuesday/ Wednesday?! X

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 08:17:09

Ooo! Good luck! Mine is due the following Monday so ages yet! I'm not sure whether to buy a test or just wait and see after Monday if AF turns up. I hate seeing the bfn's xxx

i have to say that if theres a test in the house i get an overwhelming urge just to use it even tho i know it'lll be a no! strange that i am lol.

our anniversary is next week so we were planning on going out on sat 2 march for a nice dinner. i'll know next week whether i can have champagne or not! x

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 08:32:34

Same here! I used the 2 I had last month and haven't bought anymore! Ill try and hold out as long as I can! It is an overwhelming urge to know though! Aww hopefully you won't be able to have champagne then! Xxx

even i'm happy to give up my anniversary alcoholic celebrations for this! tho i'd really been looking forward to a nice bottle of wine with dinner lol. but this is far more important than wine!

i think i saw the clearblue digital ones on offer in tescos - they are massively expensive still tho! x

pixie0602 Thu 21-Feb-13 13:39:17

Hi ladies..been M.I.A last couple of weeks so congrats to all the bfp's and hi to the the newbies.... Feeling really shitty at the moment and really overwhelmed so may have to delay the ttc til I feel a bit more myself :-(

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 15:16:59

Oh no pixie hope you're feeling better soon xxx

pixie0602 Thu 21-Feb-13 16:25:04

Thanks ELA... It's prob me having a few bad days... It doesn't help that DP doesn't want to dtd xx

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 19:55:29

I was like that last week, I was so completely fed up and miserable I think I made myself feel ill, my poor dh couldn't do a thing right! Having this week off work has definitely made me feel better, sometimes a good rant helps too! Xxx

Hi there

I have had a few off days lately and it sucks! Do feel much better for being able to rant a wee bit here tho x

PistachioTruffle Thu 21-Feb-13 20:02:05

I keep getting confused between this thread and the March Bfp one, whoops!

Hope those who were feeling off are feeling a little better.

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 20:36:39

I'm watching my guilty pleasure now of one born every minute! Is it sad I'm excited there's a water birth on it?!

PistachioTruffle Thu 21-Feb-13 21:39:47

I love a bit of One Born, ELA88. I'm watching it now, haven't got to the water birth yet.

I watched a taped one tonight! Lovely woman on who was having twins

PistachioTruffle Thu 21-Feb-13 21:50:31

Fairy, yes, they seemed to be a really happy couple and she had a gorgeous family too.

ELA88 Thu 21-Feb-13 21:54:36

I've got 3 episodes recorded to watch! The water birth was the shortest labour ever! They only half filled the pool before the baby was born! I'm watching the twins one now!

ELA88 Fri 22-Feb-13 16:51:09

It's Friday night! Woop! I just wanted to bump this up! Xx

Thank god for Fridays! Love them!

Was at a wedding fair there - massively excited and its taken my mind right off TTC lol x

ticktock1979 Fri 22-Feb-13 21:50:11

Hello all!
Wondered if I could join's the basics;
I'm 34 & DH is 36, we're TTC #1 & I think I'm going nuts! Everything is a symptom & every BFN is 'wrong'. My mind is playing tricks on me & I don't seem to be able to do much about it smile
My SIL is pregnant & a number of friends at work - jealous us an understatement! I get emotional at the slightest thing & angry that DH doesn't seem to understand.
Anyway, sorry for the rant but it'd be lovely to join & find out how everyone else manages to cope with this - I thought I was so strong!

Hi there! Don't worry - going a bit nutty seems to be par for the course lol x

ELA88 Sat 23-Feb-13 12:25:17

Still 9 days till AF! This is the slowest 2ww ever!!

Can I join? I'm encouraged by the BFP's I've seen on here and I'd like a share of the luck!
Been ttc #1 for 14 cycles now, currently CD5 on cycle 15....

ELA88 Sat 23-Feb-13 13:00:46

Welcome! I do hope this is the lucky thread! Xxx

ticktock1979 Sat 23-Feb-13 13:32:37

Just waiting for DH to go to work so that I can catch up in OBEM from Wednesday. He says that the programme makes him feel uncomfortable although he did manage 10 minutes from last week - there's hope for him yet!! smile

WakeyCakey Sat 23-Feb-13 18:13:19

Ok guys serious TMI in this one so I apologise

My flu turned into tonsillitis and an ear infection so on antibiotics.
Here is the TMI at work today felt like I'd come on and there was a crazy amount of discharge! Nice and clean but in worried why it is there. It wasn't like EWCM very liquid but I just don't know what it is?

Any help lovely ladies?

Whereabouts are you in your cycle?

SloaneRaver Sun 24-Feb-13 09:37:23

Hi all, welcome barkingtreefrog and ticktock1979.

I feel there's almost no need to prefix with TMI, since we're all in the same boat, but AF arrived today right on her 28 day schedule. It's disappointing, as we had DTD before what was meant to be ovulation and during. But I definitively did not notice much CM of any type this cycle. Wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Now to keep positive for the next one, fingers crossed for that BFP!

WakeyCakey Sun 24-Feb-13 09:42:36

I'm on CD 21 however my cycles are still wobbly, in total they have only lasted 13, 16 and 19 days so gradually getting longer.

ELA88 Sun 24-Feb-13 10:06:09

wakey I've had that before, where it's almost like pouring out not like normal discharge but is completely clear like water? I don't know what it is though? Sorry :-( xxx

Ariel21 Sun 24-Feb-13 10:13:29

Hello everyone. Not been on for a bit due to AF being here and feeling despondent! Gone now and am ready to start again! Said to DH last night 'If I'd known I could have sex 8 times during my fertile period without contraception and not got pregnant, I would have done so a long time ago!' Here's hoping that everyone hits the mark this month, fx.

ELA88 Sun 24-Feb-13 11:48:27

Haha ariel I know how you feel! We went on holiday a couple of years ago and I lost my pill (put it somewhere safe in my purse and lost it!) and was so paranoid I might get pregnant, not that it would've been the end of the world because we were engaged etc but it wasn't the right time. Now I know I shouldn't have worried as it is so hard to concieve!! Xxx

BookWormery Sun 24-Feb-13 13:13:33

I'm lurking. Two cycles down, now not sure whether to hold off a year, save some more money, enjoy another holiday etc.

Before TTC I'd had two accidents re contraception over the last 15 years. Complete one offs but got pregnant both times. Had an abortion when about 20 and a miscarriage the second time.

I stupidly thought I'd get preg first time this time!

Positive grin

PistachioTruffle Mon 25-Feb-13 18:15:07

Congratulations Fairydogmother! grin

Thank you! Can't quite believe it x

WakeyCakey Mon 25-Feb-13 18:35:09

Congratulations Fairydogmother !!!!!
So happy the thread luck has swung your way!

Thank you! Can't believe it x

ELA88 Mon 25-Feb-13 20:08:37

Congratulations!! Xxx

Thanks ela88! Fingers xd for everyone else x

Kimmy1986 Mon 25-Feb-13 20:35:59

Hi everyone!

Can I join this thread too please?

I'm 26, my oh is 28 and were only just starting ttc after I had my mirena removed last week, very excited!

WakeyCakey Mon 25-Feb-13 21:42:23

Hi kimmy welcome!

jaffas2013 Mon 25-Feb-13 22:48:22

Hi all

Hope you don't mind me sneaking in smile

I've been keeping an eye on the threads for the last few weeks but only felt brave enough to join tonight! I'm currently around 9DPO and constantly sympton spotting! actually I think i'm driving me and DH slowly mad!

WakeyCakey Tue 26-Feb-13 06:33:11

I got a smiley face on my ovulation stick! First time for everything.
Does that mean I am ovulating today or about to ovulate or just have does anyone know?
DTD last night, should I do it again tonight?

Hi everyone, may I join?

@Jaffas2013 i've been doing the same!

I'm 24 as is OH. Had implant removed in early Jan, had first AF on 19th Feb.

Looking forward to sharing all your journeys with you!

PistachioTruffle Tue 26-Feb-13 17:02:05

Wakey, I would do it today, tomorrow and the next day just to be sure!

WakeyCakey Tue 26-Feb-13 18:06:42

It's so exciting now. This is the first time it's felt real that were TTC

jaffas2013 Tue 26-Feb-13 20:56:31

Hehe, it is exciting but I'm also quietly panicking!

My hopes are starting to be dashed as my "symptoms" appear to be gradually going. Last weekend I was absolutely postitive that this was our month but i'm not so sure today sad

2xBFNS so far the last being today. Probably still waaaay to early tho. Just have to cross every that AF stays well away!

WakeyCakey Tue 26-Feb-13 21:54:23

Fingers crossed for you Jaffa!
DP told me last night after we DTD that he is sure we just made a baby, I was laughing until I used the ovulation stick and saw the smiley face.

He would love to be right! Not for the baby, just to be right grin

marie456 Tue 26-Feb-13 22:41:43

Our 4th cycle of ttc #1. Me and husband both 30. Came off microgynon in October 2012 and luckily got pretty regular cycle back straight away! Currently 6dpo. Am thinking I should somehow feel different if I was going to get a BFP, but so far nothing!! Am wishing the days away to AF/hopefully BFP!! Good luck ladies!!

Bartlet4America Wed 27-Feb-13 16:45:52

Hi everyone smile hope you don't mind me joining you!

We have just started trying for a baby and I'm so excited! Probably a long road ahead (I have PCOS), but I can't help but feel excited anyway! I've got a pretty good GP who diagnosed me and said that when I want to conceive, just to go after three months and go on Clomid. Want to see if I can do it myself first!

My cycles are pretty out of wack so for the next couple of months I'm just going to DTD as much as possible and then, if BFP is still evading me, get serious!

ticktock1979 Wed 27-Feb-13 21:52:15

Wow Fairydogmother that's terrific news.

Lets hope some of that good luck has passed onto others on this thread! smile

Thank you!

123234345 Thu 28-Feb-13 12:01:37

Grrr! Why couldn't I ovulate last week, when we had sex three times? Why does it have to be now, when my husband has been working silly hours all week, I've been out every evening and we've both had stinky colds?

In other news... Oh wow! Since I've last been on I see congratulations are in order Fairydogmother! Sorry to be a bit slow noticing.

Thank you!

Def just DTD as much as you can all month round and dont concentrate too much on when you think you are ovulating - the wee wrigglies hang around in there for a good few days!

WakeyCakey Thu 28-Feb-13 18:52:19

Welcome Bartlet you sound like you have a very down to earth GP it's good to have support from all angles!

This is my first 2ww as cycles were so messed up. This one has been 24 days so far, so gone from 13,16,19 days to much longer. We shall see if AF shows up in the meantime.

I won't be devastated if I don't get a BFP as I still feel that I am getting into the swing of my cycles so don't mind if it takes a few months to get more regular

Although saying that having bad endo pain whenever I do come on so the quicker the better I guess!

Bartlet4America Thu 28-Feb-13 20:18:04

Thanks Wakey! My GP is great, very to the point ("you were born with PCOS, you're guna die with PCOS, you've just got to learn to manage it and get over it" - grin), but really knowledgeable and keen to help out! Aaah the 2ww! Have been lurking on MN for a while now, and have seen how much of a rollercoaster it can be. Hopefully you might be one of the fortunate ones who gets pregnant straight away. I keep thinking that it could happen to me, but the reality is a fair few months of BFN for me yet!! GOOD LUCK!!

jaffas2013 Thu 28-Feb-13 23:53:48

Welcome all new peeps smile

Well yet another BFN this morning. Had constant sore boobs since OV but the queasy feeling has gone as has the (sorry for TMI) CM. I think I'm 12DPO today so still a chance yet but not going to bother testing again til Sunday.

Hopefully I'm one of those people that cant get BFPS early!

jazzcat28 Fri 01-Mar-13 16:57:28

Can I join you ladies? I'm 27, recently married and I took my very last pill this morning and now am starting the wait for AF to arrive, following which DH and I will be starting TTC in earnest!

Am hoping to just go with the flow and not get into charting and ovulation tests etc, but who knows how obsessed I'll get!

I'm a little worried about regularity of cycles as before I went on the pill (when I was 17) I could go 2-3 months without any period, but not sure if that was me being irregular, or just because I was young and my body hadn't settled. Have been on the pill ever since so no idea what my cycles are like.

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Mar-13 17:06:59

Hey jaffa good luck for testing on Sunday!
I'm 3dpo so long 2ww to go!
When is your AF due?

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 17:57:24

Hi everyone smile

I'm just wondering (am a complete idiot with all things to do with conception), is it possible for a test to give a BFP just two weeks into a pregnancy? The tracker I used (webmd) predicted I'd be ovulating this week, and I think I've had some signs of ovulation. The tracker reckons I'll be due my period this month on the 13th. Seeing as we've only DTD this week (3 times), would a test even be accurate that soon? I'd only be 2 weeks preg? this is so unlikely but never mind!!

Madratlady Fri 01-Mar-13 18:03:29

Hey I haven't posted since the start of this thread but I'm feeling a bit down and worried. AF is now 8 days late but still bfn and no symptoms sad
Should I be worried?

If you've ovulated this week you won't be able to test yet. You can test at 2 weeks but that's 2 weeks after conception (ie ovulation), not two weeks after the first day of your last AF. You can test on the day your AF is due, or with a sensitive test up to 4 days before. Hope that helps.

madratlady how regular are your cycles?

PistachioTruffle Fri 01-Mar-13 18:10:12

Hope everyone is having a good Friday and looking forward to the weekend!

AF arrived yesterday so out for this month. Have ordered taking charge of your fertility in the hope it will help me understand my cycles a bit more.

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 18:16:51

thanks barking - so if I don't get my period before the 13th March, test on the 13th?

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 18:17:24

pistachio I've heard that book is fab. Am going to order a copy too - god knows I need it.

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Mar-13 18:18:26

bartlet I was wondering things along those lines today.
I ovulated on the 26th so am 3dpo. Does that mean I test 2 weeks from the 26th? So do I test on the 12th if AF doesn't arrive before then?

Yes, the two week wait is the wait between ovulation and when you can take a pregnancy test.

Hence lots of people on here referring to the dreaded 2ww....

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 18:29:30

sorry for seeming so stupid but it's so bloody confusing - added to the fact that my periods are not particularly regular anyway! Slim chance this month methinks! Thanks again barking

Barlet I'm currently on my 15th cycle of ttc and I've learnt quite a lot since I started!

Madratlday I've just seen on your thread that you only came off the pill in December. It's probably too early to know what your average cycle length is yet. I was anything from 24 to 28 days on my first few cycles after stopping the pill, then I was 37 days on the next cycle and was convinced I must be pg despite the BFN. It was torturous!!

Madratlady Fri 01-Mar-13 18:36:49

barking I've only been off the pill since December but I came on bang on time in jan. And I was regular before I went on the pill.

I hate the 2WW, I start imagining symptoms!

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 18:42:43

barking well fingers crossed that a BFP shows up for you soon!!

matradlady am envious of your regular periods!! Ugh mine are here, there and bloody everywhere!

wakey it looks like we'll be testing around the same time, that's if AF doesn't show up first! Fingers crossed

Madratlady Fri 01-Mar-13 19:09:10

Thanks barking I feel a bit better now smile

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Mar-13 20:35:31

Yep bartlet looks like we are, exciting stuff. Hoping I can last the full 2 weeks before testing. I have a load that I bought online so there here to pee on making it even harder to resist!

barking I've been off the pill since new year and so far had cycles of 13 and 19 days and now this one where I know I ovulated on day 23 so totally irregular but I'm just putting that down to the pill and coming off it

WakeyCakey Fri 01-Mar-13 20:37:13

And thanks barking I was pretty sure but it didn't seem long enough to test.
Mind you when I get pregnant before I tested after 6 days and got BFP! Strange how things happen! Alot has changes since then mind!

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 21:07:14

wakey I don't think I'm going to be able to resist testing! I'm just trying to pay attention to any symptoms of AF and keep a level head so that I don't get too carried away. I usually get all the headache-y nasty shit at least a week or so before she shows up, so we shall see!

PistachioTruffle Fri 01-Mar-13 22:07:42

Bartlet, all the reviews I've seen have been very positive, I'll share my own mini review here after I've read it myself too!

This AF is horrific, they seem to be getting worse sad I don't remember them being this bad before I went onto contraception. Horrid.

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 23:28:40

pistachio oh no, I feel for you. I found mine were bad after I came off the pill (a few yrs ago now) but it does get better x

Bartlet4America Fri 01-Mar-13 23:29:13

(Also copious amounts of choc and vino helped!!)

Bartlet4America Sat 02-Mar-13 10:15:50

Hi all smile hope everyone is doing well!

I've woken up with really bad nausea and dizziness this morning, am hoping it's not a bug or something. That would throw my TTC mission right off ugh!

jaffas2013 Sat 02-Mar-13 11:53:11

@ WakeyCakey AF due today! at least I think it is... very confused with my cycles at the mo. I used the clear blue ovulation sticks (7 pack) got right to the last one before I got my smiley on the 16th of Feb but noticed I had EWCM the day before.

Today (sorry for TMI...) I have yellowish CM but no signs of AF at all. Had a horrible pressure headache for the past two days but seem's better today. I'm so tempted to rush out today and spend proper money on a test! I've just been using cheap ones so far but dont want to be dissapointed with another BFN.

Madratlady Sat 02-Mar-13 15:30:37

Sorry for my terrible ignorance ladies but am I right in thinking that as long as we DTD every 2 days then ovulation tests etc aren't really necessary? It wasn't until I found this forum that i realised that it was likely to take a few months at least blush

Bartlet fingers crossed that your nausea and dizziness is something to get excited about and not just a bug!

Madrat - yes, that would work. For me though, it wasn't until I started charting that I realized I ovulate very late in my cycle and have a very short luteal phase. This could mean that I'm not producing progesterone for long enough to support a fertilized egg as AF comes too soon. The blood tests I had showed that I still hadn't ovulated on day 21 but I had by day 28. However this alone doesn't show when I did and how long my luteal phase is, so all the temping and ovulation testing I'm doing is to gather evidence for the fertility clinic. Hopefully they will then help me ovulate earlier in my cycle by giving me drugs!!

Juhannus Sat 02-Mar-13 18:46:28

I'm new to mumsnet and am finding all the abbreviations really hard. Half the time I ain't got a clue what people are saying sad

I looked up the abbreviations list on here but it doesn't help.

Could someone kindly list a few so I can enjoy mumsnet at least

jaffas2013 Sat 02-Mar-13 23:06:15

@ Madratlady.. Yes if you can keep that up all month then well done ;) I used them as it was my first cycle after being on the pill.

@ Juhannus, I'm fairly new as well but let me know what your confused with & i'll try to help.

Update... AF (aunt flo) has got me this month so back to square one sad But this time I think I need to forget about all the potential "symptoms" and just let it happen. I think I got myself in a bit of a mess thinking everything I felt must mean I'm pregnant. I started testing far too early which didnt help with my stress levels.

It's taken us 10 years to be financially stable enough to support a child and now I just want it all to happen yesterday! Fingers crossed next time is in our favour smile Good luck to all those testing soon

ticktock1979 Sat 02-Mar-13 23:50:40

jaffas - I'm with you on the 'thinking everything is a symptom of pregnancy'. I think it's definitely a better idea to relax & see what happens - all this stress does our bodies & our minds no good.

My DH & I had an abortion 8 years ago after some pressure from family members as we'd only just got together. I am so worried that I have missed my only chance for being a mother. My friends & other family members are popping babies out left, right & centre & I feel like a child. Women around me are experiencing pregnancy & motherhood &, although I'm older than a lot of them, I feel young & inexperienced in that I haven't had a child.

Sorry if this is abit morbid & tmi for a Saturday. I feel so content now that we are TTC, I guess I'm just a little worried & impatient.

smile keep smiling ladies, we'll all get there soon enough xxx

Juhannus Sun 03-Mar-13 05:16:20

Jaffas thank you smile

you've helped me on one that was bugging lol Aunt Flo won't ever forget now haha

Bartlet4America Sun 03-Mar-13 10:35:06

Hi everyone smile hope you're weekends are going well and that you're relaxing!!

jaffa sorry about AF sad keeping my fingers crossed for you for next month. It is frustrating as hell when it's all you can think about. Hope you start to feel a little more relaxed.

ticktock it WILL happen!! smile I don't even consider an alternative, I find that helps when my mind leads me down certain roads... You shouldn't feel like a child though - sounds like you and your DH have built a very stable life for yourselves in terms of affording to have a baby, and I'll bet your relationship is strong and wonderful too. Not an easy thing to do and worth feeling good about!!

Bartlet4America Sun 03-Mar-13 10:37:31

madratlady I wish!!! Got terrible back pains as well, I just know I'm going down with something. That or AF is going to be a bloody horrible one this month!

WakeyCakey Sun 03-Mar-13 21:33:25

Well time is going slow! Who else is in the 2ww at the moment, I keep losing track

Bartlet4America Sun 03-Mar-13 21:40:38

I am. Not feeling confident though, what with a 40 day cycle and all. sad

WakeyCakey Sun 03-Mar-13 21:52:01

Bartlet when are you testing, I'm on the 12th if AF doesn't appear before that.
How are you keeping your mind off it? I have one of those iPhone apps but it tells me I'm 11 days late for AF as my cycles haven't been full since I started. Only Ov'd on cd23 which would seem to make this cycle 37 days so almost the same.

Madratlady Sun 03-Mar-13 21:55:34

Jaffas We do tend to manage every other day all month, unsurprisingly DH is very enthusiastic about it lol. Not that it's done the job so far but it's early days really (cycle 2).

Ticktock If it happened for you once I'm sure it'll happen again. I hope you have some good news to share on here very soon.

Wakey Not sure about 2ww, it's been a 3 1/2 ww so far and still waiting. Definitely not pregnant though sad. Fingers crossed for you and for Bartlet as well!

gillian1986 Sun 03-Mar-13 22:01:25

Poking my head in before going to bed!!!!
AF has been and gone in the last week or so.. Now gearing myself up for ovulation!
Dtd yesterday and today... And hopefully lots in the week ahead wink

Stocked up on some pound shop pregnancy tears and also have sone opk's which I will use over the next week...

Cycles are pretty much back to normal after coming off the pill on December so pretty sure about my dates/ovulation etc.. But you never know so DH and me are trying to dtd as much as poss, not just when I think I'm super fertile!

For a job interview tomorrow... Strangely NOT anxious ... Just very excited! It's a good job and I know I can do it.. So wish me luck!

Night all and good luck to anyone testing soon... Infact good luck to everyone! smile

Bartlet4America Sun 03-Mar-13 22:08:38

wakey I'm testing then too - the 12th/13th provided AF stays away. Am still dtd just incase the app on my phone is wrong.

Good luck tomorrow Gillian!!

WakeyCakey Sun 03-Mar-13 22:18:30

Good luck for the interview gillian

bartlet I had a positive opkt on the 26th, completely different than the app said so I'm just using it to input info until my cycles become more regular!

Bartlet4America Mon 04-Mar-13 11:00:05

wakey I feel like I'm going to cave on the whole 'not testing til the 12th' thing, so may go and buy some pound shop cheapies or something so I don't feel too guilty when they're a massive waste of money!!

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 11:38:35

I have a load of amazon cheapies in the house so I'll be doing those before I buy a clear blue!

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 11:53:55

8 days left! God it's slow!

Bartlet4America Mon 04-Mar-13 11:56:19

I know!!!! I'm working from home at the moment as well so time is just dragging and there are no distractions!!

123234345 Mon 04-Mar-13 14:14:20

2ww just started. <twiddles thumbs>

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 15:44:33

Having fun symptom spotting though! Today it's wearing loads, yesterday sore boobs, both have more than adequate explanations but I'm ignoring them!

Bartlet4America Mon 04-Mar-13 17:13:26

Ditto with the symptom spotting, trying to stop myself though! My brother announced him and his OH are expecting today. Happy for them but just a little bit of day dreaming that it won't take me too long...

Bartlet4America Mon 04-Mar-13 17:14:10

In other words, a bit jealous blush

Madratlady Mon 04-Mar-13 17:22:52

I know how you feel Bartlet, last year 3 of my colleagues got pregnant by accident and even though it's only my second month trying I'm envious that it happens to some people so easily and they don't have all the waiting and symptom spotting!

When you do conceive though your little one will have a neice or nephew close to their age to play with, that'll be nice for you.

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 18:16:26

It's crap isn't it. My colleague at work was asking for my advice earlier, she's pg and asked what I thought she should use, bio oil or cocoa butter to avoid stretch marks!
I just said how about silence as too much noise is bad for the baby blush
I was stressed and jealous that she won't stop going on about her accidental pregnancy!!!

Bartlet I keep getting pregnancy updates from SiL. They've just found out that actually we've been ttc for 15 months and are now full of soothing platitudes. Want to tell them where to go seeing as they've got a child already and seem to have conceived their second pretty much to plan without any trouble. She's also younger than me. So no, you don't understand what we're going through. Grr..

PistachioTruffle Mon 04-Mar-13 19:42:10

wakey, is this the colleague who announced at 5 weeks with a post it note? If so, YANBU and I'm not surprised she's getting on your nerves! grin (if not, ignore me I'm thinking of someone else)

AF seems to have finished, roll on cycle 7!

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 20:23:10

pistachio you are right! We have a specific maternity uniform in the company I work for and she is already asking about it.
I just have a short fuse at the moment!
And also lucky number 7 and all that!

PistachioTruffle Mon 04-Mar-13 20:35:36

hmm she sounds like a whacking great attention seeker to me! Well done for not poking her in the eye grin

WakeyCakey Mon 04-Mar-13 20:45:12

Haha the temptation was there.
One day when we all have our beautiful, noisy, puking babies we will look back on our time TTC and laugh! smile

jaffas2013 Tue 05-Mar-13 00:10:09

Awh poor wakey. Nothing worse then when you have someone ramming (pardon the pun!) it down your throat all day long.

You might not see me post much when I'm on my next TWW. I've decided to keep my head down (oops another pun!) and just try to forget about it all and chill. Although I'll probably be the same as last month if not worse!

Bartlet4America Tue 05-Mar-13 13:16:25

Thanks madrat and barking. Sounds like your experiences having been a little more trying than mine. I don't get how people can be so thoughtless.

Am hoping AF stays away. Haven't had any period symptoms as I normally do a good week or so before I come on, so there's that. Not holding my breath though! I'm probably going to test on Sunday, just to take the edge off the wait!!

PistachioTruffle Tue 05-Mar-13 13:33:08

Fx AF stays away Bartlet!

Taking charge of your fertility arrived today, it's huge and weighs a ton! It seems to be quite easy to read though, so that's my plan for the afternoon. I'm also using it as an excuse to conveniently forget about the essay I'm supposed to be working on

Bartlet4America Tue 05-Mar-13 15:20:22

pistachio ugh don't even talk to me about essays - I'm in the same boat and should be working on mine but I'm sooooo tired I can't function today. Just had a friend pop in for tea and I could barely keep my eyes open!!

SarahMargaret Tue 05-Mar-13 19:20:26

Hi, new member - first post all advice welcome This is our third month trying, which may seem too soon to worry, but I guess because I've never been on the pill or any medicated from of contraception I thought it would happen right away. I'm 25, hubby is 27, both healthy weight, active and eat well. Problem is and this is where I hope someone can give me some hope.... he works in Newbury and I live in our home in Ireland, he commutes, flies out Mon morn and back Friday evening. So we only have weekends to actively try. For the first month we had been using KY but heard it can kill sperm so switched to Conceive Plus, I find it very hard to not use anything. My periods are irregular ranging from 30 to 37 days, last month was a 32 day. My GP has done blood tests for iron or thyroid issues, but they came back normal, she has said if nothing happens within another 3 months I can come back and see her, I want a baby so so much I have no patience and daydream about seeing a positive pregnancy test all the time. As I said, any advice would be really appreciated, thanks xo

Bartlet4America Tue 05-Mar-13 19:48:57

Hi Sarah smile from what I've seen on here, it isn't that often that it happens for anyone in the first couple of months or so! We're the same in terms of the fact that I haven't been on any contraception for years (just used condoms) and that my cycles go up to 37 days. When are you due to go back to your doctor? Have you paid attention to your (sorry if this is too much) discharge? From everything I've read on here, it really helps you to monitor when you're ovulating. Maybe also try ovulation sticks to try and pinpoint when you're ovulating. It may take a little longer for you to conceive purely because you're restricted to trying on weekends, but then again it might not!! You can ovulate pretty much randomly some months, so don't let it get you down. If I were you, I'd feel quite positive in terms of your health and such. Keep your head up!! It WILL happen for you. smile

SarahMargaret Tue 05-Mar-13 23:56:33

Thanks Bartlet4America, your kinds words are encouraging smile have u been trying for long? We try and dtd as soon as hubby is home fri night and sunday night before he flies off again mon morning. Keeping an eye on mucus too, so far no sign this month, and yet ovulation calenders and aps are telling i should ovulate around the 8th thats this friday. Doc said all bloods were normal and I cant go back until May if it hasnt happened by then, Im praying that it will have though. smile

crazycatlady82 Wed 06-Mar-13 01:18:22

Anyone else in the TWW?

I have been tearful this week an seen either pregnant women or new babies everywhere! Yet, as I said to DH I just don't think it's our mth. Not sure why but I just don't feel pregnant. I feel normal.

WakeyCakey Wed 06-Mar-13 09:00:56

Hi crazycat I am and so is bartlet
I have been very teary the last couple of days, was a mess at work yesterday!
When are you supposed to test?

123234345 Wed 06-Mar-13 11:04:28

Hello crazycat and wakeycakey. Yes, I'm on 2ww at the moment. My mind was playing tricks on me this morning telling me that my boobs were sensitive. I am trying to ignore it. Obviously if I was ignoring it successfully I wouldn't be on here! Fortunately I don't have a work colleague like Wakeycakey's to contend with.

SarahMargaret - welcome to the waiting room! In all likelihood you will conceive within the first year of trying so there's every reason to be positive.

Bartlet4America Wed 06-Mar-13 11:08:21

Morning everyone smile

Sarah We officially only started trying in Feb (25th onwards I think) and that is when I was apparently ovulating, so that worked out well. However, we have had a few cheeky instances before where we didn't use anything, but obviously they came to nothing. It's weird because although it seems like getting pregnant should be an exact science, and that you only have to have sex at the right time, I'm finding out it's really not! Don't worry about the mucus thing too much - my friends who have been pregnant looked at me like I was an alien when I asked them about that, so I don't think it's the same for everyone. That's good news that you're supposed to ovulate this Friday! pistachio has ordered a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and I've heard loads of great things about it. Might be worth a try for you? If all your bloods are normal etc, then just assume that everything is fine - May is not that long and who knows, you could be pregnant then!!

wakey crazycat I am doing my head in symptom spotting! "Ooh boobs hurt! Must be preg!" "Ooh feel sick! Must be preg!" GAHHH. Am not sure about testing early anymore... I keep going back and forth on it. I think I need to chill out a bit!!

Oh Bartlet you could be pregnant smile eeek! I always thought if you had unprotected sex you would get pregnant, turns out there is so much more science involved. The right day, the right way, eat the right things, take the right vitamins, wow there is so much! oh I might take a look at it. As for symptom spotting, I did this the first month constantly, I was tired, felt sick, had sore boobs, everything. Ended up taking 5 early preg tests, all neg of course, so decided not to take any unless I'm a few days late in future, its horrible seeing a neg sign. But it will happen in time, and if it takes a year so be it, so long as it happens xx

Sarah Ugh I wish!! It could be AF symptoms, I just have no idea. I was going to test on Saturday or Sunday but I know I'll just feel rubbish if I see a negative test. AF is due Monday, but she's never particular reliable, so who knows! But YES, that's the attitude, that it will happen! The way I'm looking at is that by the end of this year, I will be pregnant. End of! :D

Luckily I have a day off today.
Having a baking day. Despite loving baking and doing it a lot dp decided that this is a symptom of pregnancy!! He's so cute sometimes haha!
Thought today that my nipples looked darker (then I switched the light on blush)
I can't stop eating pickled onion monster munch (this is an all year round craving)
Everything is a symptom!

Hi everyone! Is it too late for me to join? I'm currently on day 3 of AF and we will start trying as of this weekend! I'm so excited, and haven't got anyone to talk to in RL as we've decided not to tell anyone that we're trying. Don't want the pressure or all the questions as to how it's going!

wakey awh bless him! Jealous of the baking sad I have so much work to do! DH was upset when I said I wouldn't be testing early though I probably will and just not tell him if it's negative so I can avoid looking like a complete obsessed freak and then just casually announce, "oh look, it's my period" when AF does come... blush
