Hi all,

I am a mumsnet-virgin! I have always wanted to join but never really took the time to. However, now that I am going through a weird time ttc'ing I thought I should pop in here and have a chat. I am sorry that my first post is a question and I promise to be more active in the future!

My story is, we are ttc #2 soon after we have #1 as I have a heart condition which I need to take medication for, this medication causes birth defects so I can't stay off it too long while ttc'ing. So in other words...I need to move quickly and get back on the meds.

With DD we conceived first time, we were blessed. However this time things are proving difficult. I got a very faint positive pregnancy test 12 DPO and continued with faint positives (barely visible) all the way to 17 DPO. It is not getting any darker - always barely vicible, went for a bloodtest today and my hGC levels are only 32 - very low for 17 DPO. I have no cramps, not bleeding, so not sure what it could be? An ectopic? A miscarriage?

GP says I must 'wait and see', hmmm, easier said that done!

Any ideas?

hello,
can't you request a early scan, if only to put your mind at ease, surely this would be ok as of your heart condition, if i were you i would ring your local hospital and see if they have a early pregnancy unit and speak to them they may ask you to go in for a scan
Good luck and hope you get the result you want xx

thanks so much for the reply. I went for a scan but they couldn't see anything. But apparently it is too early to see anything either way.

grecianmum is there a possibilty you conceived later than you thought. Positive hpts can happen as early as 8dpo, is it possible you could be up to 4 days behind?
Otherwise, as nerve-wracking as it is I guess you'll find out sooner or later what's going on. Are you going back for anothe hcg to compare levels? They're supposed to double every couple of days.
