Hi

You seem like nice people on here; I'm new to the 'conception' area! I am after some advice, if you have time please. DH is on long term meds which he has to come off if we want another baby (we have DS 2 yrs). He has to come off them for 3-4 months before we can stop using contraception. We need to conceive PDQ as he will be suffering off his meds, so ideally first month please .
Took about 6 mths with DS, but DH's condition has worsened so will be tough for him this time. Any tips on what we can do now to prepare, and what we should do at the time? I am taking folic acid now, should I take other supplements for general health? When the time comes, is every other night best practise (god, I remeber the tedium of it before ) and anything else to give us the best chance of success? I know I am asking for the holy grail here, but I wasn't so stressed about it first time round, so didn't do much research. Thank you muchlies.

my pal got some ovulation prediction sticks that you dip in your wee and it tells you when you are ovulating.
worked for her the 1st month after 12 months of clomid.

I heard sex every two days and do it when he feels like it (if you like) as that way the sprm, or troops as some refer to them, will be the liveliest! So if he is a morning person, go for it in the morning.

Try and be as s
xy as you can so it does not feel like a chore! That way you will get his best results and he (and you) will be less likely to lose interest!

Also, not sure how correct this is but can't hurt, read up on it for things to help, ask dear old Auntie Google! E.g. you could prop your legs up against the wall after sx, (many will say this is not necessary and I have no idea but you could give it a go!), also try and have an orgsm after your DH has done his bit as this may get things moving in the right direction!

Avoid any lubricants, these may kill sprm, or at least check, I have even hear saliva can!

After s
x not too much movement of any kind, as this can disrupt the troops! For a few minutes at least.

Anyway, these are all things I have heard.

Our only child was conceived via assisted conception (IUI) and of course that is something you could explore, using IUI, if necessary. All the very best.

also on my list: Use pre-seed, have accupuncture, use one of those cap things like a mooncup to trap the swimmers.

mooncup, really? I use one for my period anyway, so can do this. Does that help then? thanks for the tips, hadn't heard of pre-seed before reading this topic!

There's something a lot like a mooncup but smaller to trap the sperm closer to the cervix but lots of people use a mooncup for the same purpose. Have no idea if it works but if you've got one anyway, hey it can't do any harm!

Why not indeed. I have had acupuncture previouly for back problems; what exactly does it do for fertility? Help egg production or something?? thanks.

I'm not sure but there have been massive long threads on here singing it's praises. A lot of success stories it seems.

Get dh to take zinc now.

Oh and if you take B6 that may also help. You have to be careful to reduce / stop this once you conceive though as too much B6 can harm a developing baby.

My suggestion is to yes go for every other day but dont stop once you think youve ovulated as you may ovulate a few days later than you think and therefore miss the key time, likewise it could come earlier so every other day from af ending for at least 2 weeks or longer if you fancy!
