I'm trying to get my head around supplements. I had two miscarriages last year and have been taking a multi vitamin (pregnacare) through all of last year and until now.
I am on a big 'belts and braces' approach now to avoid a third, and have cut out all alcohol and caffiene and purchased Zita West's 'fertility and conception' book. This book lists the above vitamin and minerals (in the title of this thread) as being thought to be linked to recurrent miscarriage.
Can anyone help me get my head around these?
How much should I take in addition to the multivitamin I am already taking(?) and is there any chance I could be taking too much of anything that might do more harm than good?
I've been taking CoQ10 - I honestly don't know if its my imagination but I feel 'better', less lethargic (maybe the nice weather we're having). But I am worried about potential harm the whole time....
Also..... I watched an Oprah show ages ago which said most multivitamins didn't deliver everything they should in a day if taken as one pill - and suggested cutting it in half and taking with two different meals..... anything in that?
I am also generally concerned that MAYBE I'm not absorbing the proper amount of folic acid.... any harm in taking more than the RDA?
My diet is good and getting better and I am ideal BMI. But meals are erratic. Oats for breakfast and then usually nothing more until an evening meal (and the oats is a recent thing....).
Would appreciate advice. Many thanks.
