Phimosis - any experience?

Phimosis is where a man's foreskin doesn't retract at all... ever. My DH has this, and he thinks nothing of it because it doesn't cause him any bother. From a TTC point of view though, I'm worried.

Allow me to be graphic! If you are of a sensitive disposition please look away now

The foreskin seems to get in the way when it comes to ejaculation. It kind of um, oozes out and doesn't travel far. It seems logical to me that this might cause problems with TTC because semen would be deposited so low in the vagina (compared with men who can ejaculate "normally") the sperm just won't be able to swim all that way

Is it worth suggesting he visit the GP? Naturally, the idea of having to get his bits out for a doctor is absolutely horrific for him, plus the added fear that they might recommend circumcision. I'm not sure I'll be able to convince him to go, even though I've heard there are less drastic treatments out there...

DH had this when I met him. Obviously we weren't ttc then but for me it was a hygiene issue. He had a very simple operation (circumcision I guess!) and was fine within days. Worth considering, it's not as drastic as you may think.

my hubby had this -they called it true phimosis, he could roll back the foreskin when slack, but couldn't when erect. Also had problems cuming as not enough sensation on the head, The donut didn't realise that this wasn't normal until I mentioned it a few months into our relationship, anyway, went to the GP who refferred him for circumcision, had that done and was able to test drive after a fortnight!

Thanks for your replies.

I'll have to talk to him about it. It's not going to be easy, I know he'll freak out at the mere suggestion of seeing a doctor

I decided to gently broach the subject last night - emphasised that circumcision isn't the only treatment, steriod creams can help, etc.

Got the following response:

"Gah! I'm FINE! No! Can't we just WAIT AND SEE? Gah! No!"

I have a feeling that once we stop using condoms he's going to find sex quite awkward and painful, and I'm actually hoping he does because then he'll be inclined to do something about it.

Blooming men and their doctor issues...

Aw poor you. It did take a lot of persuasion to get dh to go too. Good luck!
