i know the experts say you should be fit and healthy before ttc but id like to know what was your top weight when you became pregnant if you were overweight/obese to start with.

I got pregnant whilst losing weight, i lost 3 stone and was 15st when i fell pregnant on the implant! im 5ft7 and have a big build even when im 9+1/2 st
im currently 20st :S and have just about recoverd fully from SPD 2 yrs!!! after having my son!!
and am now cleared for exersise, before i could just walk a mile ( in pain ) before it got to much.
I am actively trying to lose weight now and have lost 3 lbs this week gone.
it was hard being overweight and pregnant, i didn't like it and it also made my SPD worse than i could of been if i was a healthy weight to begin with.
I will not try to concieve without having lost at least 6 stone, the pain was so bad last time im sure it caused my PND, i will do ANYTHING to not have such a horrible pregnancy again, and a big part of that is losing weight.

Just remember perfectly healthy women have serious complications in pregnancy so being overweight/obese and trying to concieve is not i would say in your or your baby's best interests, the chance of something going wrong just increases so much its silly to knowingly put yourself there.

also the weight is harder to get off after a baby, so best be a bit slimmer before to help.

I was 18 st 10 when I got pregnant with both dd1 and dd2. I'm six foot tall, so equates to about a size 18/20 or thereabouts. Got pg very quickly both times. I have hideous morning sickness when pregnant, and actually lost some weight over the first few months, and was definitely lighter by the time I had the babies. I only really put on about half a stone all in each time.

IME fit and healthy has little to do with weight.

Down to business though, I am currently pregnant and my BMI means I'm a big, fat porker (size 16-18). I have very low blood-pressure, an excellent diet (nutrition-wise) and am as mobile as the morning sickness will allow - normally I ski and ride as my moniker would suggest so have a reasonable level of fitness.

My fertility doctor wanted me to lose a couple of stone - the last time I'd been at that weight I'd not eaten for 4 months and my hair had fallen out - not condusive I thought to a healthy pregnancy.

I've had two friends who've been very overweight at conception, one at 17 stone and one at over 20 stone. The 20 stone girl had no problems at all, the 17 stone girl did - but she is a "less healthy" person anyway.

Btw, I think it's very dangerous to say "I will lose x stone before I start TTC" - because let's be realistic here, were you 7 stone yesterday? Didn't you want to lose weight before starting college/getting married/going on holiday/definitely "this" year? Any one of us could've tackled this weight issue years ago - I'm not sure it's wise to put your life on hold until you wear a size 10.

Secondly, I did TTC naturally and it took 7 months the first time (early-mc) and 5 the second. Bear in mind I was 35 though.

I was 11 stone when i got preg with DS1 (I'm 5'2"...), I put on 5 stone when preg!!! I'm not blaming the pregnancy for that, although I did lose 2 stone within 2 days of giving birth, I used the pregnancy as an excuse to eat and eat and eat. I am now trying to lose weight before trying to conceive number 2. And I am most definitely not intending to eat my way thru another pregnancy!

Good luck with both the weight loss and TTC.
