Hi ladies,

I'm new to Mumsnet, so firstly a big hello! I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to jump in and say hi :-D

Anyway, my OH and I are getting married on the 15th May this year, and we already have one 15 month old son, who is an utter joy. My OH works full time and brings home about a grand a month after tax, and I work part time and bring home about 600 a month, we have just moved into a fairly large two-bed flat, and I started at my job last August.

The thing is, although I didn't particularly enjoy being pregnant the first time, I am now ridiculously broody for a second! The only thing is, I'm concerned we won't be able to afford it - does anyone have any advice on when is a good time to have a second baby?

Thanks!

Welcome dear crochet, welcome!!

Will just let you know my experience in case it helps. I has DS1 late in life and DS2 came hot on his heels (fell PG when DS1 was less than 9 months old).

Anyway, with less than 18months between them they are grest pals and they do absoluteley everything together. point is, i have bought nothing hardly for DS2 becauseI have everything in terms of outlay (I did buy a second hand car seat, just remembered). What we have taken a hit on is the cost of childcare as DS1 only now just qualified for "free" hours at pre-school - so last year was pricey for a while. that is the only cost I can think of that we have incurred so far, DS1 is 3 and DS2 is almost 2.

on a purely personal level, I would say go for it ASAP! You are in the zone already and believe me, I am SO glad now that we had them close. Too many little ways to illustrate that here but it is really great having two with the same interests, same entertainment level, same socks.... Good luck!

Know exactly what you mean. DD is just two and we really want another. But London childcare costs rule out me working with two children but we can't afford for me not to work. It's a tough call.

There is never a right time finacially to have another one. As long as you are happy to make sacrifes for the long term you will be ok.
