Hiya,

This is my first post on here but I'm hopeful it'll be the first of many as I really want to be a Mummy again and not just Mum and have a little one to play with my 7 year old.

I'm very seriously broody right now but as we have planned to get married in August, I just guess we'll have to wait a little while. The only problem with that being that due to my work contract expiring at the beginning of September next year, in order to get maternity benefits, I need to be expecting to deliver come August 2011 or earlier or we'll have to shelve our plans until after I get another job etc.

Anyway, that means if I'm doing the maths right I've got to be pregnant by 41 weeks before that which is towards the end of October. We'll probably start trying end of June/beginnign of July as I don't mind ebing a little pregnant at the wedding as long as it won't show yet.

Basically though, that means we have very little time in which to try to concieve (not even 4 months) and so I want to be really prepared in advance.

I'm currently on the mini pill and was wondering what peoples expriences were of it and when to come off it etc and also as it doesn't prevent ovulation even though I'm currently still on it can I take a home fertility test and expect a more or less reliable result and start monitoring temperature etc for ovulation planning?

I know lots of people are probably going to say that 4 months isn't a realistic time scale and I know that and if it doesn't happen in that time then that's just the way things are supposed to be, all I can hope is that my fertility hasn't changed much from when I had my little boy- that time I got pregnant within my first cycle (which if my fertile period was at kind of day 15 or so was about a week after we made the decision to start trying). The main difference (apart from age) is though I'd never been putting any chemicals etc into my body at that point- i only started that after my first was born.

If anyone can give me some advice from their experiences/knowledge about this that'd be great. I know the best source of info about this would probably be my doctor but i'm disinclined to go to her to ask as my own mum works at the surgery and will want to know why i'm there etc & i don't think i can deal with all her well intentioned concern about becoming a grandmother again etc, especially as it might not get the chance to happen.

Cheers

G

Erm I was on cerazette (mini pill) and had no periods. Came off it in September, first period a month later, positive (home) test a month later. I didn't do my temp but just looked for 'signs' of ovulation. Only had sex twice that month as we were in the middle of buying and doing up our new house! I know I'm extremely lucky but I got myself scared as people said how difficult it was to conceive after that pill so when I read you're more fertile in the two months after coming off the pill, we thought what the hell. I don't know if that was the case or if we are super fertile/lucky but I wanted you to know there are positive stories out there. When I looked (and was worrying about it) I only found negative stories which freaked me out and led to a hell of a lot of stress. Incidentally, same happened when I searched to find out what happened at the 12 week scan and I had mine today and everything is fine. Oh and as for chemicals, I get migraines and had taken loads before trying!

So, good luck and I hope you're as lucky as me.
