This is my second month TTC. Last month I did not find any EWCM although I must have ovulated later than I thought anyway as I went from a 26 day cycle to 30 days - so probably wasn't looking at the right time.

Anyway - was checking constantly at the weekend (!) - had watery milk coloured CM until just before I went to bed last night when I final found EWCM. (Am rather embarrassed at how excited I was and had to laugh at myself in the bathroom when I was like "wow- it really is like raw egg white, and so stretchy!"

So I thought - this is it, we'll definitely be BDing tonight. However, DH refused to have sex saying that he was too tired

So after all of that way TMI what I would like to know is - how soon after you get EWCM do you ovulate. Will tonight be too late (will try anyway - if I don't get turned down again!). Am back to very watery milky CM now - no sign of EW since last night. How long does EWCM usually last?

Thanks for taking the time to read - am new to all of this and have already learnt so much about my body that I previously knew nothing about.

Hiya Purple

if you eat fresh grapefruits you may find that your EWCM lasts for a few days longer. Normally half a grapefruit does it for me. Juice doesn't seem to work. Good luck! x

It varies a lot from woman to woman. Younger women often get longer periods of EWCM, although I am an old wrinkly and used (before I had my DD2) to get over a week, building up to a peak when there was loads.
Prior to that peak I would get patches of EWCM - a bit one day, a bit the next etc. And I also got odd days with EWCM which were waaaay before ovulation.

Sorry, that's as clear as mud isn't it?!
The only thing to do is to wait, keep observing what happens and see what your cycle is like over a couple of months.

I am definitely not an expert, but I think I am right in saying that EWCM comes ust before ovulation, and also that eggs can hang around for a bit - so you shouldn't have missed your chance, assumning DH is ready and willing
