Hello,

My DP and I are hoping to start TTC and are very excited. He has a history of cystic fibrosis in his family so we are keen to find out if he is a gene carrier before getting started. Our doctors have been fairly useless at advising us how to go about this but finally today DP has been referred.

I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to what is involved and how long the process takes? I have looked online but can't find any info on this...

Thanks in advance

I had a blood sample taken at my local hospital after being referred by my GP. Two weeks later they confirmed that I was a carrier. I think the timescale would probably vary from hospital to hospital. It was all painless & stressfree with loads of information offered - I was given a follow up appointment on finding out my results, with offers of any more help should I want it.

Hey floopy, thanks a lot for your reply maybe once we have the appointment we will find out more info. Two weeks isn't long at all, i expected it to take months. Pleased to hear you had a relatively good experience of the process. Thanks again.
