Bonkers Anonymous - From TTC to BFP, from BFP to Bump, from Bump to Baby and....... from Baby to Toddler!!!!!!

(914 Posts)
Ladies, here we are once again, a lovely new thread!

I am so pleased to see we have new ladies since the last thread began, may we get even more on this new one!

I am so very excited that Detox, HC and Willmouse are all set to give us more bonker's babies very very soon!

I am loving regular updates of our beautiful Bonkers babies and they grown and learn and become more scrummy by the second!

I am looking forward to many more BFP's maybe even from some of the Bonkers Babie's Mummies!!!!! grin

Oh and I am also looking forward to Bonkers going the next step as we get our first 'Bonkers Toddler' - Time has flown and next month my beautiful Bonkers Baby Naomi Caitlin is going to be One!

Let's continue with great friendships and love smile
Lovely start to the new thread MJIM, as always. Thanks.

How long has bonkers been going now? I joined in January 08, but I know it had already been going a while - is it coming up to 2 years before long? That's impressive!!

All well here, Patrick now a total nightmare, but in a good way - climbing on everything, getting everywhere he shouldn't be! He's certainly keeping me on my toes! Off for his first settling in session at the childminder's tomorrow in anticipation of going back to work in a mere 3 weeks. Am now bfing just morning and evening and middle of the night too, and ff in the day, again in readiness for going back to work.

That's my update, brief though it may be!!

Love to all.
Juanitad - glad things are going well! Naomi still isn't crawling lol! I started the original thread in october time 2007 - so yes soon approaching 2 years! Of course the first thread we were not called bonkers anonymous - but still the same grin
Morning all

MJIM lovely message at the start smile Wow, our first Bonkers baby is going to be 1 soon!!

Juanitad lol at P - it sounds like you are going to have your hands full (he sounds just like Josh at that age lol!). Hope the settling in goes well. Childminders?? I thought you had him booked in at a nursery (or are you doing a mix of them both?)

Sam seems a bit more content to actually stay in one place (fingers crossed) so am hoping he won't be quite as hyperactive as Josh is!!
Hello all,

A lovely start to the thread again MJIM!! grin

Juanitad, gosh you're going to be busy with Patrick from the sound of it! grin I know what you mean about making preparations to go back to work. I've decided to take two weeks holiday now at the beginning of October to extend my mat leave a little, but I will be trying out the childminder during those two weeks aswell, just to make sure Ellie will be Ok. hmm

Ceebee, how are you? I'm sure Sam won't be staying in one place for long!! wink

So ladies, I need a bit of advice. You've all been there I'm sure so I'm hoping that you'll have some good hints and tips.

DH and I have only taken Ellie to the shops twice. Both times she cried. blush She's fine until we have to stop the trolley/pram, the minute we stop she cries. We've tried making sure she's got a full-tummy and is changed before we go, so she's not hungry or uncomfortable.

So yesterday, I took her out myself for the first time. Wanted to look at the Summer Sale in Matalan. By the time we got to the car park, she was already grizzly, so I gave her some more of her bottle, winded her and kept her really calm. Got her into her pram and took her into the store. So far so good. The minute I stopped to look at some clothes for her, she started screaming!! Luckily the shop wasn't too busy and as it was, there was nothing left in the Sale anyway so I just left. I've always been one of these women that hasn't liked babies crying in shops, it used to really grate on me. And I'm really conscious of how I used to feel and don't want to subject other people to it. Any tips on what might be the problem or how I can resolve it? I don't want to be a prisoner at home and not be able to take her out to the shops!! sad

Dawn - I had exactly the same problem with N, though with her it wasn't just shops it was everything she loathed being in the carseat or pushchair or trolley at all! Even when walking at speed pushing the pushchair she would scream like mad. I got a hug-a-bub sling and a miracle occured! Maybe you should think about investing in one? They are very comfortable to wear and it may help.

As for children being disruptive in shops, I am immune to that, you sort of have to be when you have two little monkeys children!
Dawn Sam has always been a bit like that which quickly put a stop to my lovely fantasies of long shopping trips whilst on mat leave grin He is ok if I am moving, but the minute I stop to look at clothes/pay/whatever, he starts screaming. As he has a dummy, I do use that which buys me a bit more time but obviously if Ellie doesn't have a dummy, you can't use that. I think you just have to turn a deaf ear to it and make the shopping trips as quick as you can - but for your own sanity, you need to get out and about so don't stop doing them.

Sam actually likes supermarkets though (not sure if it is the seat in the trolley which is higher up or what) - I can just about do a full shop (an hour) before he starts whinging - he usually starts when I am at the checkouts but maybe that is because the trolley has stopped hmm

The other thing is maybe go when she is due a nap, keep walking/rocking the pram until she falls asleep and then you can probably get a good hour of shopping done (I have done this aswell and it works well!!)
MJIM, thanks for your advice, but I've tried a sling and unfortunately (due, I think, to my implants) within 10 minutes my back is in agony. sad In fact, even just doing the ironing these days is uncomfortable. It eased when I was PG but it's back again now. It could be a strength thing though, maybe my back needs strengthening, so I will try it again.

Thank you!! smile
Dawn - which sling do you have? the original one I got near on killed me using it even when N was tiny - the hug-a-bub is totally different and really supportive of back and shoulders! Sorry to hear you're suffering so badly with your back though!
Thank you for the new thread MJIM-as usual is is just lovely. smile

Just marking my place and now off upstairs to pack my hospital bag <gulp> Have also booked 2 tickets for the Rocky Horror Show in December when my boy should be a couple of months old. Hope I can leave him. DH has reluctantly agreed to come with me, said OK to humour me apparently but I took this as a yes. grin Have waited approx 12 years for them to tour again so need to grab the opportunity as it may be another 12 years before they tour again.

Will catch up later, FIL cutting the hedge so need to look busy. grin

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
