Can someone explain to me the mechanics of getting pregnant.

I don't mean the obvious bit (I know how babies are made) but more along the lines of the dates you're fertile.

DS was an accident and so I never really thought about when we should ttc.

My understanding is that if day 1 is the first day of your period, day 14-16 is when you can get pregnant and day 28 is when it's all done. (I know that's very basic).

Would someone mind explaining it to me?

Thanks in expectation..

crunchie it depends on your specific cycle length. It varies from woman to woman, and you may OV as early as day 8 or as late as day 20!

the best time to bd to conceive is between 3 days before or 1 day after OV. There are lots of ways to track OV from calender dates (less accurate) to temperature taking, tracking cervical mucus, cervical posistion and using OV predictor kits (more accurate). There is lots on the internet about this - ask Dr Google and she will be able to give you all the info. the website fertility freind is a good place to look, but I'm too dyslexic to type out the address!

good luck!
