I had an ectopic pregnancy in April 09 and had to have my left tube removed as it was to badly damaged because of the pregnancy. When they did the laproscopy they said that there was alot of scar tissue and was a mess. has anyone had the same experience and been ok or not. i dont see that there is any reason as to why my tubes would be blocked as i have never had any STIs or endo. However i have a cyst do you think this would of caused problems ie infection it was just an ovarian cyst. Any help ladies???

Hmmm....pelvic scarring and adhesions are usally caused by a pelvic infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or by pelvic endometriosis. One can also develop scar tissue as a result of the normal healing process that occurs after pelvic surgery. Have you ever had any operation performed on the pelvic area?

I have scar adhesions on my right side from an appendectomy I had several years ago. It turns out that my tubes are open but the one on the right is slightly twisted so I have to go in for early scans once i fall pregnant because I am at high risk for an ectopic.

I don't think an ovarian cyst would cause the extensive scarring you mention (or any scar tissue at all for that matter).

Have you had an HSG yet to determine whether your left tube is open?

I would certainly speak to a gyne about your options and find answers as to why you have all this scar tissue. If you have never had a pelvic operation, either PID or endo seem like the most likely causes. Mind you, Endo can only be diagnosed via laporoscopy scans are NOT a reliable diagnosis and it can produce little to no symptoms in many women.

Best of luck....

So Sorry you are going through this Stuck.....its not easy. I remember climbing the walls while waiting for my tests and their results.

The only thing that kept me going was my doctor who kept saying that if everything was blocked, I could still get pregnant via IVF. You are young so this procedure would very likely produce positive results.

I know it's so hard, but you have options!! My strongest recommendation is to find a good doctor that you feel comfortable with and who listens. You also need someone who is going to help you stay positive -- because you WILL eventually get pregnant even if you need a little bit of help along the way.
