REALLY faint line, need to know today, anybody recommend a very sensitive test

I shouldn't be pregnant (on the mini pill, 1st month after having coil removed and then 3 months of condom) but because of certain symptoms (wierd taste in mouth, feeling really light headed) decided to do test this morning. I have the faintest of lines, if I really look hard for it. The thing is - I really want to know today whether I am or not. I have tickets for Glastonbury festival which I have until midnight tonight to sell back otherwise if I don't go I just loose the money (£180 so not to be sneezed at). If I am pregnant- quite apart from going arrrggghhhhhh, I won't want to go to Glastonbury for reasons of higiene, morning sickness and generally being sober watching all my mates get ratted on pear cider!!! The test I did this morning is a first response 6 days early jobbie - I know waiting until tomorrow am is the best option but I need to sell tickets today. Is there a brand of test that would maybe work this afternoon???? Sorry for ramble - its early and I'm in shock....off to work this morning, will check replies this afternoon. thanks so much

The test you used is the earliest that you would be able to test. No drinking, and hold your wee for as long as you can, at least 3 hours preferrably more, to retest later today. Otherwise you will have to wait til tomorrow.

A line is a line so you're pg.

when i got the faintest of lines and i couldn't wait any longer to know i went and got one of those clearblue digital tests which flashed up pregnant and told me i conceived 1-2 weeks ago....they are very sensitive and made it much more final seeing the word pregnant rather than guessing myself about the strength of a line....

good luck. x

I agree with boodleboot - don't pee for a few hours and then do a digital test this afternoon

you used the most sensitive test - a line is a line and means pg

BUT it is very early, many pregnancies never progress beyond a few days - i wouldn't base your decision on a possible pregnancy

Lates face it if you are pg, you can still go or can you sell the tickets on?

I had a really faint line with my first l could hardly see it we looked at it for hours. I was pregnant. A line is a line.Try digital one but my gp told me you are more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. Does that make sense?

Thanks all - I may just buy the digital test in case it helps. Appreciate your thoughts.

FYmmumoftwo - unfortunately I cannot cancel tickets after today and you cannot sell them on. Its like getting in to fort knox these days - tickets have your picture on and everthing. I would be gutted to loose £180 - although, would be more gutted if pregnancy didn't progress and then I'd sold my ticket -Glastonbury is the one thing me and DH have always done together even after children were born, its kind of our time out.

Will discuss with DH but I think I may just keep the ticket and then I suppose just loose the dosh if I have to. I couldn't go - would be fully in the throws of terrible morning sickness by then if my previous two pregnancies are anything to go by.

Hello! I worked for the company that makes Clearblue, (and the hospital used ones as well), for years, and know all about them!

The hormone produced in pregnancy (hCG) is ONLY produced when you are pregnant and it doesn't exsist in the body when you are not. This is the hormone that makes the blue line appear on the test stick when you are pregnant.

Therefore it is absolutely impossible to get a positive result when you are not pregnant (i.e. a false positive). But is is possible to get a false negative, due to very tiny amounts of hCG (below 25mlu) not being picked up by the test.

So if there IS a line, then you are pregnant i'm afraid... But as mentioned, sometimes you can miscarry so early that it seems like a normal period anyway... This is why lots of people claim that you can get false positives with test kits.

Best to do another this evening. But try not to drink anything as it dilutes the hormone too much and is harder to detect. xxx

Hey guys,

Did the digital test this aft, said pregnant 1-2. I guess I wasn't just imagining the faint line.
In shock considering the circumstances - probably Glasto on the telly for me! I'll be glad I'm at home when I've got my head down the toilet throwing up!!!

Thanks all.

proudest - took test yesterday on day 28 of cycle. Usual cycle length varies - 25 - 35 days. Fingers crossed for you - let me know how you get on.

DH is in a state of absolute shock poor dear. Keeps wandering round saying "how can this be" - bless. His shock has kind of toned mine down and I'm slowly getting the head round the fact that I'm pregnant. I've got 9 months to really get to grips with it I guess!!

Test again in a few days proudest that seems pretty early to me.

I think the fact that it shouldn't have happened is the thing, kind of made me stamp my feet like a 2 year old thinking "its just not fair"

will watch out for how you get on

oh go on, why should you stop yourself going to Glastonbury even if you are pregnant? you don't stop being a person just because you get 2 lines on a test you know! What harm can the toilets/ bad hygeine really do you? Can't shield yourself from everything for 9 months!

plenty of very pregnant women go to festivals, if i'm pg later in the year i'm still going to go to Cropredy. and that's with my 3 year old in tow as well.

totalmisfit we too are taking the children to a festival later in the year, hopefully I will feel a bit more "blooming" and less tired etc by then. the main reason for not going to Glastonbury is that ALL the people I would be going with would be drinking and smoking - 2 things I have recently given up and I would find it very difficult to be in that environment with that group of friends whilst trying not to (cannot risk falling off the wagon so to speak). I know that sounds a bit weak but I don't fancy 5 days of being around drunk friends!! also at that stage of my previous two pregnancies I was very very sick - the faintest smell of just about anything made me want to heave. the smells of Glastonbury coupled with the state of the toilets does not make it the ideal place to be in that state.

I didn't sell my tickets in the end though so if I'm feeling unexpectedly chipper I may pop along for a couple of days.

I do find it quite difficult to abstain from forbidden fruits whilst pregnant - have managed it in past but its not easy. I love all the foods I now cannot eat and really miss a drink or two when out with my mates. I can't be the only one. However, in the grand scheme of things its not much to ask eh?

not doing too bad thanks proudest. DH is calming down a bit and getting his head round it which is really helping. Whenever I look at my two gorgeous boys I think to myself another one is nothing but a blessing. What a shock though, felt like I'd been kicked in the gut.

I can appreciate it must be sooooo hard not to just keep testing but I think you need to wait until the end of the week at least. Quite apart from all the money this cannot be good for your nerves!!! Don't forget I tested with a very sensitive test pretty much around when my period was due / poss overdue and the line was incredibly faint. I'm really hope it works out for you.

Hiya Sersi!
Gad to hear you are getting yr heads around it!

What a shock though ay?

And yr right, it is a blessing, and was meant to happen I think

Yeh I knw, my nerves are shattered, did one ths morning too(I know, I know!!), obv 3 days early nw, and yeh it was negative, so waiting nw, can't take the disappointment
But my DS, age 2 had a terrible day yesterday, lost count of the amount of seizures he had, he has a genetic disorder
which unfortunately involes severe hard to treat epilepsy and other probs...just felt soo crap so think thts why I caved today and tested, was trying to cheer mysef up, hoping I would get a BFP

But he is a wee bit better today, seeing consultant tomorrow, thank goodness

Hope you are all good...and bean!
