Anovulatory? I'm devastated :-(

Just got Day 21 tests (take on day 27 due to 34 day cycle and found level is just 2 when it should be 30+

I have two children already but the desperation of a year ttc number 3 and 2 miscarriages in 3 months is taking its toll. GP won;t give Clomid without consultation with fertility specialist and as we have children it will be 14 week wait.

I just feel so empty and hopeless (CD1) and was hoping there are others out there in same boat or have overcome not ovulating somehow.

I am going to homeopath on Wed.

Hi there, sorry to hear you are so down about it all.

I haven't tried it but I know a lot of people say good things about accupuncture.

Have you asked to go on the waiting list?

Infertility problems can be realy trying - I know. But maybe having the consultation to aim towards may help to an extent, at least with dealing with it month by month.

We are being referred and will be put on list, yes.

Don;t think I can afford homeopath and acupuncture together though.

The worst thing is the guilt I feel for not just focusing on the fantastic children I have already instead of this all consuming desire for another. I feel like a failure as well as a bad mother

It's hard, I know. I can only speak as someone who has faced each hurdle with an overwhelming feeling of negativity and upset but then as each date has got nearer for each appointment or test or treatment I have looked back and been amazed at how quickly they have arrived.

It's really hard but just talking about it can help. There are lots of threads here in the Conception forums where you can find help, advice and support.

Thanks Beanie.

Trying to decide whether to continue with CBFM this month or not now...

one one hand there is the hope that this was a one-off bad month and on the other there is the knowledge that the monitor gave me a peak when there really was no ovulation

Hi

Could it be that you only had an anovulatory cycle this cycle? It does occasionally happen.

Could you be ovulating later in your cycle than you think - My luteal phase was only 4 days so all my day 21 tests came back anovulatory then I monitored my cycle using a clearblue fertility monitor and discovered when I ovulated. I was put on 100mg clomid to bring my ovulation forward to a time when it could sustain a preganancy. I had had 2 miscarriages and they explained that I was ovulating but my hormones never got to a level to sustain pregnancy before my period started. Normal ov has 14 days for hormones to rise and stop periods, mine only had 4.

HTH

Hi oops

I discovered when I ovulated with CBFM too and had the bloods taken accordingly but obviously despite the peak on the monitor (CD24/5 of 34 day cycle) I didn;t ovulate according to bloods.

So my story matches yours almost exactly - except I haven;t got hold of the clomid yet. I hope I do.

I have lost 1 stone in the last 7 weeks (Slimming world) and am wondering whether that could have contributed? Gone from 11 stone to 10. Although miscarriages were before that and cycles been 34 days regularly for last year to my knowledge.

How long did you take the clomid for before you got pregnant?

I took clomid for 5 months - 1 month at 50mg then 4 at 100mg. The month I concieved I had lost just over a stone and was getting fit to run a half maraton, thinking it wouldn't work and I needed something to focus on whilst waiting for my IVF appointment. For somepeople weight definitely makes a difference in conceiveing. I am currently trying to lose a stone so when we go back to the doc in June for comidfor TTC#2 it might work a bit faster.

II've just started Clomid - was referred last year and only just got my hands on the stuff. Am hoping it works.

Honestly, the appointments will come round quicker than you think.

Hi
ILovebeingamummy - I was told by my gynae that sometimes people don't ovulate every cycle - while I don't want to give you false hope - but maybe this is what happened?
