Hi All
Went to see dh who is away at the moment with Navy (since Dec) and spent a week togther. I am not taking any contraception and we are hoping for our 2nd child. We tried before he left but only for 3 months.
Anyway I feel different. I have been very tired (could be jet lag I know plus have sore throat and feel generally unwell) My boobs feel tender and I feel different down below too, slight cramping feelings/similar to when I a due on but it all feels much more sensitive iykwim. I have been weeing more and also have massive urge to go and then only wee a little. I feel generally spaced out which i remember feeling before. My instinct is yes but I am not sure if it is all hope rather than fact.
Last period was 4 march for 5 days. My periods tend to be irregular.
When can i take a test for an accurate result? I'm worried about leaving it as need to take folic acid etc (I know I should take it anyway and have been off/on). I just don't feel like alcohol at all...
Any ideas? Thanks xx

Hi there - if your periods are irregular, I would go by when you could have conceived, and test probably no sooner than 12 days after that with a first response kit? I 'knew' when I got pregnant this time round, but didn't get any result on a test until 12 days afterwards, so I wouldn't waste your money (or emotions) before then... Good luck!

Hi cheekymonk- my last period also started on 4th March, and I too have irregular(ish) periods ranging from 24 to 28 days. I don't know when I ov'd really and we BD'd a fair bit this month so no idea if/when I could have conceived- but I will be on cycle day 28 tomorrow so if period hasn't arrived by tomorrow or Weds I'll do a test.
How long is your longest period usually? If you don't get a period by then I'd do a test!

Good luck, your symptoms sound positive!

HI cheekymonk and Jumping

I am in the same boat as well - for the past 6 months have had 27,27,26,26,25,25 cycles and last one was the 3rd March. Am now on day 28 and have been testing (a tad obsessively) since Saturday with BFN each time (using FMU) .

I have never been late in my life apart from once when I moved from Ireland to Boston for the summer. We BD'd on the right days so hopefully.

Feel sick for the past week (just nausea ) have been using the loo loads moer and have the same symptoms as you, the other day cried for no reason at all. Also have vague cramp-like feelings. Last night I was in bed and tehn got a erally sharp pain in my side for about 3-4 minutes like a stitch.

I am in the same boat will probably test on Friday again if AF stays away.

Ooooh Irish, my cycle buddy- I'm keeping everything crossed for you! Sounds like you might be lucky this cycle, and it's just taking a while for those hormone levels to get high enough for a positive test result. Will you test again tomorrow or are you holding off now until Friday? I too have been soooo tempted to test, but resolved not to as just can't stand the disappointment again (this is cycle 10 of TTC for me). But for me AF usually appears in the small hours of the morning so if it's not there by 9am tomorrow it will be officially late, and so will feel justified in testing!

I am knicker checking like a possessed woman though . Haven't really had any symptoms- a bit of cramping and a dull ache/heaviness- but all that is quite normal pre-AF for me. The biggest difference this month is no spotting at all yet- usually I get it at least 2 days pre-AF. Trying desperately not to get my hopes up but it's so hard!!

How are you doing cheekymonk?

I'm going to hold off until Friday - can't deal with another BFP have had 4 so far (3 with FMU!)

AF usually appears by about 11 or 12 a.m. so I'm approaching my deadline for today - DH is on tenterhooks and we are both trying desperately not to get excited but it's the first month this has happened so....

Good luck to you too - you;'d never know we might become more than just cycle buddies. [nervous smile]

I'll keep everything crossed for you - work has calmed down a lot now so I will actually be able to contribute to these boards again instead of just lurking! :-)

Good luck with teh testing

Cheeky how are things going with you - any news on the testing front?

Well the wait until Froday didn't happen and yet another BFN but still no AF.

How did your testing go Jumping - hope AF didn't get you.

Cheeky how are things with you?

Sorry to hear you got yet another BFN irish- but hoping it's a good sign that AF has stayed away so far, keeping fingers crossed for you.

Wellll I still had no AF this morn, so did a cheapie test and to my great surprise it is a BFP!!! I am torn between great excitement and anxiety, as I now have to wait until 11 weeks for a CVS test to see if this LO has CF, if of course we get that far. So the 2ww has now become an 8 ww- but at least I now we can conceive which is a big relief.

Really hope your next test is a good 'un.

cheeky any news? x

Good luck Cheeky, Irish and Jellyfish. I am in a similar position. I am convinced I am pg as I feel so odd and have only felt like this twice before (and have 2 dc!). I feel nauseous all day, less so in the evening, am sooo tired, boobs ache, slight cramps below and really spaced out. I am also feeling quite tense, like bad PMT, which I don't normally suffer from and am on very short fuse. Funny taste in mouth too. My last period was 6th March so am CD26. Really want to know for sure, is it too early to test tomorrow. All this waiting is too much.

I really hope we all get a BFP soon xxx

Ooh have cross posted - sorry about your BFN Irish, I hope AF stays away. Its very odd isnt it when you feel symptoms but dont get the result. I have fingers crossed for you.

Wow congrats Jumping, I hope your 8ww flies by, all this waiting is hard work.

Hmmm think I might test tomorrow.

Hi tinateaspoon I had a weird taste in my mouth the other day - kind of metallic. it wasn't nice at all.

I'm just sick of teh waiting - I am now 2-4 days late (CD29 of a 25-27 day cycle and am getting really annoyed because of all teh BFN and no AF.

Sorry for the rant - what is your cycle usually I'd say you coudl try and test if you're normally a 28 day kind of girl it can't hurt. :-)

JumpingJellyfish · 31/03/2009 11:20

Thank you Irish Really hope you get a BFP in the next couple of days, have a very good feeling!

Tinateaspoon if your cycle is usually 28days or so I'd do a test tomorrow or Thurs- really hope your instincts are right!! This would be DC3 for me too, fingers crossed, if we get through the next 8 weeks!

My symptoms have been pretty negligible really- just more tired than usual (went to be at 9pm last night even though hadn't had a really busy day). I do have a funny taste in my mouth too but, touch-wood, not nauseaous yet. Had pretty bad m.s. with DD, but hardly any with DS, so who knows this time!

tinateaspoon · 31/03/2009 11:30

THanks my cycle is usually 28 days so I think I will test tomorrow. I think I tested 2 days early with dd2. My lack of patience is maddening, but I just need to know why I feel so wierd!

Rant away Irish, I would too. The weird taste is metallic and makes tea taste rank. Am thinking of you - when will you test again? Make sure its the first wee of the day too so its more concentrated.

Jellyfish, I have two dd's already and the pg symptoms were the same. Its interesting your sickness was different with both. We'll see - crikey its odd I feel so sure I am pg, am going to look a right wally if I am not !!

ah wow, lots of posts since last on here! Congratulations jumping jelly!!! I am not up with all the acronyms but presume that means postive result! Wow!
I cannot remember when last period was, annoyingly. I have a funny feeling I did not have period in Feb. I used to be about 28 days but has been more irregular last 6 months due to stress I think( not about trying to conceive more ds1's behaviour and dh going away)
I totally agree tinateasppon, i feel weird too and it drives you nuts waiting and not knowing!
I feel less sure I am pregant now as less symptoms apart from spaced out ness and sensitivity below.
Was planning to do test this week but am scared of negative result! Gool luck everyone else! i feel a fake being included as it sounds as though some of you have been trying for a good while.

Hi CM, don't feel a fake, I haven't been trying for a while, this is the first month tbh. I know how you feel being scared of a negative. I'm desperate to test, but scare too. Test when you're ready - good luck x
