Clomid - stories from those who were ovulating regularly but were still prescribed clomid

Hiya

I know there's a lovely big long thread about clomid experiences but was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share there experiences of being prescribed Clomid because of unexplained infertility? Have just had an HSG which essentially seems to suggest that my tubes are clear (Thouhg I will know more in a couple of weeks) but when I spoke to the people at the IVF clinic by telephone they seemed to be suggesting the next step would be clomid.

I know this is prescribed for those who have issues RE ovulation but as I don't I am interested in hearing success stories/experiences from people who just needed a little helping hand and encouragement from a low dose of clomid, rather than people who just weren't ovulating often.

thanks in advance.

Hiya, I was ovulating ok & HSG showed tubes were fine ... but I had short cycles (21 - 26 days on average) so suspect I had a luteal phase defect. Conceived DS on 3rd month of 50mg clomid. Good luck with your ttc.

Hi BeanieB

I have just completed my first month of Clomid (in the 2ww wait).

My story is I have had three miscarriages in the past 3.5 years (no children as yet) - can't seem to hold onto them past the 8 week mark. I have a HSG booked for next month if I haven't conceived.

I have been given Clomid as I have just turned 40 recently and they are really scratching their heads with me. I have had the recurrent miscarriage tests which came back normal. They reckon that, due to my elderly age (!) the Clomid would produce more eggs for me and give me a more fighting chance. In the event of a BFP I am to start on baby asprin.

My experience of the Clomid was really bizzarre dreams - it was like I was watching 3 action packed films every night. I would wake up exhausted the next day like my brain hadn't had a proper rest.

Wishing you every bit of luck...
Amelied

Beanie and Amelie, I am on my 2nd try with it myself, will also be 40 this year...had an HCG in January, all came out fine...This month was also the 2nd month for IUI, I go in for blood testing on Tuesday...of course every little twinge I feel I wonder if it's cramping or not! Could drive myself crazy! All has checked out fine with both of us, I have a 13 yr old daughter, he has a 3 1/2 yr old daughter, and is younger than I am...it's a waiting game, but more like gambling, since I'm worried about the money issue as well!

thank you. I am 39 this year and my cycle is about 25 days long. I am scared about the side effects but I am willing to give it a try if they do prescribe Clomid.

Sissy, did they give you IUI as a matter of course?

Yes, that is what I was told up front, how it would go. I've done 2 so far, and go in for my bloods tonight after work, so I'll get a call tomorrow...no hopes up for me, I'm feeling very light twinges of what may be cramps coming on .

The Chlomid makes me weepy...first month I was fine, but weepy, this time around weepy and cranky ...poor DH didn't know what to say or where to go!

bumping. I have now been prescribed Clomid for my unexplained fertility and wondered if there are any more ladies out there with 'unexplained' fertility who were prescribed clomid and then went on to get pregnant?

Hello there, coming out of lurkdom to say yes, that's me! Was diagosed unexplained, consultant sort of threw 3 months Clomid at me as saying " might as well give this a go before we try IUI" and I have a lovely 2.5 year old. It worked on the secind month. Second time around, less successful - tried Clomid again, got pregant month 7, but sadly m/c last month. It can work though!

Sorry for typos - blaming new laptop!

Meant to say, 50mg worked for me both times I got pregnant.

Just seen this, thank you Purplegreen I am working my way through the long Clomid thread at the moment. Am on day four of my first cycle with Clomid, so have had 3 pills, and so far apart from being irritable and very hot in bed last night I haven't really had any symptoms. Am wondering if perhaps they will come later.
