Hi all,

AF arrived on Sunday so now if we are successful this cycle and it's as long as this last one baby would be due early December 2009. Anyone else?

aideesmum, TTC#2, cycle 6, UCL 27-32, cd3

Um, me - but not very good at all the technical things you put on your post

TTC#3 - we are not using protection but dh wants it to be'natural' (doesn't want me to be counting and telling him when to perform basically!) I had a miscarriage in 2005 and nothing since then. I think I need to do some counting then subtly seduce him on my most fertile day!

AF arrived today, usually 28 day cycle but this time 33 day one

Really would love a baby in time for Christmas..

Tillyscoutsmum · 24/02/2009 14:42

Me too I think - although if I was lucky this month, I suppose it would be November ?

Anyway - not sure about the technicalities but I am TTC number 2 (can't find the sodding hash key ). I am using OPKs for the first time and am waiting for the pink line now. I'm only on cycle 2 of ttc. Last month was a 24 day cycle but I am on day 10 of this cycle but still no sign of ovulation

It took 19 months and 2 mc's before we got lucky with dd so I'm not holding my breath just yet but it would be lovely to have a baby by Christmas

Notachance - I haven't told dh about the opk's - he also would feel it was "too mechanical". I have to keep my obsessiveness to myself

II'm not testing for November any more as AF arrived today - 2 days early again - taking my cycle length right down to 24 days!

So here's a new list with me on it:

tillyscoutsmum, TTC#2, UCL 24, cd10
aideesmum, TTC#2, UCL 27-32, cd3
notachance, TTC#3, UCL 28, cd1
fatandiknowit, TTC#1, cycle 3, UCL 24-26,cd 1

Nice to meet you all ladies and here's to lots of BFP's for all of us!

NotaChance · 24/02/2009 15:35

Sorry - what does cd mean?

Is UCL usual cycle length?

Fingers crossed for all of us

Report
fatandiknowit · 24/02/2009 15:38

CD = Cycle day (my AF arrived today, so am CD1)

UCL = Usual cycle length!

Hope that helps.

Ahh - I understand now! So I should be seducing my dh especially around my cd14...(starts scribbling dates in diary!)

Report
fatandiknowit · 24/02/2009 15:58

Yup - well if you have a 28 day cycle that is... mine is around day 10!

But there are all sorts of calculators out there to help

Has anyone used OPK's before ? I'm beginning to regret getting the bloody things ..

Report
fatandiknowit · 24/02/2009 16:21

I'm curious about them - have never tried them, but as my recent cycle length has been a bit haphazard was thinking about trying them..

Why do you regret them?

I'm going to get a basal thermometer this month and really get to grips with this whole conception malarkey...

Report
fatandiknowit · 24/02/2009 16:44

Hi Hobnob

What's a basal thermometer.... and most importantly how much are they?

After spending my teenage years being told not to even think about sex as I would get pregnant, I'm really surprised that it hasn't ahppened first time...

Did anyone else feel like this or am I alone in my naiviety!

Hi fat (I don't like calling you that maybe FAIKI from now on)

I sort of regret it because they are supposed to show when you are 2-3 days away from ov'ing and on the basis my cycle was 24 days last month and I am now on cd 10, I would have thought I would have had a +tive on the opk by now (i.e. showing I would ov somewhere around day 10-13). There's been nothing yet though but I have read they can be unreliable. Its just making me more paranoid I suppose

You're not alone in feeling how you do btw. When I was ttc first time, I was convinced I would get pg straight away (having spent years avoiding it). I think its something like only 55% of couples conceive in the first 6 months of ttc - so don't get too disheartened

OK - should I be putting the little list of everyone's stats at the bottom of each post ?? Am new to this

Hi to everyone else as well

Hi tillys it's nice to meet someone else with a short cycle... though mine seems to getting shorter each time at the moment

I think I won't induce any extra stress at the moment by buying OPK's...

we are trying to be "relaxed" about it all, but it's amazing how you start assessing every thing about your cycle really isn't it...

I think it just gets updated when a new person joins/it's a new day kind of thing not every post.

Hi FAIKI - a basal thermometer is used to measure your temp in bed, before you get up (use the same time every day).

For the average 28 day cycle the pattern of temperature would show about 12 to 14 days of lower temperature readings.

Around day 14 your temperature would show a rise above this coverline. This rise happens after your ovulation, and your temperature will stay elevated for 10 to 16 days.

Around 28 days you get your period. Your temperature normally drops at this time as well.

There's loads about it on Fertility Friend. Basically, it's good for charting when you're fertile, together with things like looking at your cervical mucus (yes, you get to do lots of fun things when TTC!), and peeing on ovulation sticks. I've avoided all this palaver, as baby1 was conceived in the second month of unprotected sex - no charts or anything. BUt baby2 is proving a little more challenging!

Sign up for Fertility Friend - it posts a course daily to you, to explain all the ins and outs (so to speak!) and has a great chart for showing when you're most likely to conceive.

Good luck!

Hi everyone, I'd like to join in too if that's ok. I've not joined a TTC thread before so here goes! AF arrived today ( 4 days early). I have 2ds's (from marriage to ex) but am newly married to a lovely man and we would like a dc to add to the family. Am a bit annoyed that my cycle aeems to be getting shorter each month at the moment so I was wondering about OPK's too. Fingers crossed for us all.

Hello everyone,

Am sure I'll start faffing about with my OPKs soon even though I'm very dubious about the reliability of the OPKs I've got! (None of my OP sticks were positive last month but I still went on to get the early signs of a pregnancy last month - I even felt the implanting, I'm sure!)

Fingers crossed for everyone!

Hi ladies

We plan to ttc #2 from next month, so my good friend Tilly suggested I join you all on this thread.

I have mixed emotions about ttc #2 as I am an only child myself, but am ignoring all those niggling doubts and pushing through! I have one dd, soon to be 22mo, have been around on MN for over 2y now, used to be Pinkjenny. Took us 2 cycles to conceive dd, but am trying to take it as it comes.

And for the science bit - am on CD19 so have missed the boat for this month! Tend to have a very regular UCL24, so will be starting cycle 1 soon! (I think that's right!)
