Hi,

Currently trying to conceive DC2. Stopped taking pill in June '08. Since then fairly regular if a bit longish cycles. CD 33-35 usually. November - December was however a 38 day cycle.

Am now on CD38 of current cycle and had been feeling a bit out of sorts today, didn't have any pregnancy tests so decided to use an OPK - reason being that during last pregnancy i got positive OPKs when I was already pregnant but unaware that I was.
Anyway very strong +ve OPK this afternoon so rushed out to get PG test and...BFN.

So any ideas what might be going on? Am I ovulating on CD38?? and if so should I jump on DH again over next couple of days - (am fairly sure I detected ov using OPKs on day 20-21 this month), or has LH level surged just because AF is near?

Feeling very frustrated and not very patient at the best of times
Any advice gratefully received.

It is possible to have a cycle with lots of LH surges - where your body gears up to ovulation but doesn't go through with it. Where this happens you can get repeated positive OPKs. It has happened to me on anovulatory cycles and cycles where I was stressed and ovulation was delayed.

If I werre you, I'd have sex just in case.

OPKs will detect HCG because it is similar in structure to LH but TBH if you were already pregnant I reckon you would have got a BFP on the HPT.

Thanks v much for advice and info. CD40 tomorrow and have been having some crampy feelings today so reckon AF may well arrive in the next day or so.
Do you think it's worth making an appt with the Doctor now that my cycle has crept towards 40 days, or is it just one of those things you just have to grin and bear?
Thanks.

I think I would let one long cycle pass without seeing the GP, but if it became a more frequent thing I would want to be checked out, just to make sure I was ovulating.

Try not to focus on it too much; the more I think about ttc and my cycle the more erratic it becomes!

Thanks Mrs Happy.
I'll try to relax. I think you're onto something. Started to use OV sticks last month and hey presto - long cycle. Same again this month.
Think I'll just need to chill out and enjoy all the practice throughout the month.
